Please clarify. As soon as I can argue using more than three points, what will occur?

ROFL! I`ve been reading your argument for a while, and I have to say its f_cking hilarious. I must say this knowing that there are many people that agree with me that religion is by far the worst STD(spiritually transmitted disease). All it is, is a defense mechanism in your brain, that makes you actually believe that everything is going to be alright because some guy you see for an hour on sunday says so. I can`t wait for the aliens to show up and put all that "god" $hit to rest. (BTW I`m not talking about Tom Cruis`s aliens, I`m talking about the hard core "probe you in the ass" aliens. Just to clarify) Oh yea, I almost forgot, something tells me sixclaws13 uses a mac, anyone else get that vibe?

A predictable answer, Cheese84o6. You don`t seem to make any distinctions between varying types and intensities of porngraphy, and while surely there are categories and fetishes that qualify as wicked (though one could argue these content people with fantasy; I wouldn`t), not all pornography is necessarily so. You speak of `horrors of porn` but do the career choices of those working in the industry truly compare to the horrors of, say, the sex trade? Is willingly exposing one`s body to a camera for compensation truly as miserable as being betrayed into service, forced into sex with strangers? Gain a little perspective.

"I have no lack of evidence."

I specifically said *objective* evidence. You have only *subjective* evidence. Please tell me you can appreciate the distinction.

No reason really, it has no relevance to anything but it`s a morality VS. Self Control Question. People fight for freedom of speech in terms of porn, but there is not doubt in the mind of anyone who knows the horrors of porn that it is wrong. And if you do look at it your supporting it.

Hey, Cheese8406, just out of curiosity, do you masturbate with your eyes open or closed? Be honest.

"Your conversion experience saved you from ambiguity, from fear of the unknown, fear of disorder. Fear of Death."

I`m atheist and I have no such fears. Ask me why.

Sorry the fear thing was a quote i forgot to put quotes around. I was responding with the CS lois bit.

And eyes open now answer my question.

Your conversion experience saved you from ambiguity, from fear of the unknown, fear of disorder. Fear of Death. Now you have an infallible manual to tell you what to do, to comfort you, to divide the world into black and white, good and bad, saved and unsaved. There can be no middle ground b/c there is no middle ground. You need never to think for yourself ever again, which is good as introspection is painful. And whenever creeping doubt comes back (as it inevitably does) there is always the book you can use to kill those thoughts.

"Trust me, if you are blessed enough to experience it, it will be enough."

Delusions can be delightful little things, Sixclaws. I don`t dispute that. What I`m asking is that you provide something that suggests what you are experiencing is not a delusion. Until you do, you have no justification to claim that I am a slave to myself for not participating of your beliefs.

"God has no obligation to prove his existence to us."

Is this what you tell yourself to reconcile the lack of objective evidence of a god, that he`s hiding from us? I wasn`t requiring proof from God, I was requiring proof of God from you. I`m making the point that you cannot provide such proof and that no honestly rational basis exists for belief but rather that belief is culturally-determined.

God has no obligation to prove his existence to us. If it was obvious, almost everyone would claim to love him, only for the rewards it offers. Faith, an integral part of Christianity, would become pointless.

"some direct or trace evidence that is not tied to personal experience"

Trust me, if you are blessed enough to experience it, it will be enough.

"Yes. It did save you from yourself. Fundamentalism hates above all the individual consciousness and seeks to destroy it whenever it can. Nothing is more painful and confusing then the daily messiness and connection to mundane existence. "

When you`re ready to give up your human traits of pride and conceit and willing to admit that there`s something more, something that you just can`t grasp, find someone to talk to. There`s a lot of incompetence out there that you have to look out for, but there`s also a lot of good people who would love to help you.

"Yes, but it`s not."

Righto!

I`m often accused of being too narrow-minded and set in my ways, but in my defense I strenuously object (wink) that I am indeed susceptible to having my mind changed. There are conditions, of course, but to that I would argue my conditions are more reasonable than someone of opposing view. A faithful Christian would only abandon his view if humanity can definitively disprove God`s existence, which is currently impossible and might remain so. I`m asking for far less, namely some direct or trace evidence that is not tied to personal experience, appeals to emotion, appeals to morality, or phenomenon easily attributable to natural processes; something that suggests a deity or a being with deity-like abilities exists or did exist in some objective, verifiable capacity. If one feels this is asking too much, it is only because religion cannot meet me halfway.

Sorry, nope. My conversion saved me from nothing except myself, damnation and ignorance. If you think believers have no fears than you utterly do not understand the religious mind you seem to think you have completely psychoanalysed. I have more fears, and deeper ones, than I ever did before. I don`t turn to the Bible for the response to every situation or for pre-programmed thoughts, I turn to it be be closer with He who inspired it and to read of the man who died for us. You either can or will not see that, so you smugly assume you`ve got it all figured out. Truth is not deterred by doubt.

On a side note, it`s bed time. God bless.

(cont.) Human beings, be they Christian, atheist or otherwise, are stubborn by nature. We might like the idea of this other life, but the actuality of it is too much for us to handle. Even we Christians are apprehensive about it. We don`t at all like the idea of giving up our worldly goals and ambitions for it. We want Christ to take us in, but only certain parts. We want the godliness but we want to keep some of our human selves too. But it doesn`t work like that; it`s all or nothing. When you refuse the idea, when you opt to spend your life satisfying your needs and your goals, even if they are unselfish and honourable, and when you deny the offer itself, you rob yourself of unspeakable treasures, you stop yourself from ever growing to your full and intended potential, and you are enslaved to your desires, and to yourself.

Male 2,313
(cont.) The gift that God offers us all, which is possible through the sacrifice of Christ, is the ability to turn ourselves from these shells of souls we are now, made, to what we are meant to be, full, complete, and begotten. You can start in this life, but it will never, due to our human nature, be completed until the next. When you do not acknowledge the presence of God and therefore the availability of this gift, you rob yourself of the most precious thing we could ever hope for. When you spend your time satisfying human desires, no matter how honourable they are, you can not see this thing that is offered, that can give more than any human desire fulfilled ever could. Personal gain, human love, fulfilling your goals; all of those seem great if you think this is the only life, but when put next to the real gift of God, they become infinitely obscure, even obstacles. (cont.)

And finally...

""Atheists are slaves to themselves"

So it`s bad to own yourself, rather than letting others own you"

An inherent aspect of slavery is that the slave is unwilling. When a Christian gives himself to God, not the church but God, he does so of his own free will. Therefore he is not a slave to God, but a willing servant. The "it`s better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven" argument assumes that when we die, we remain the same way we are when we are alive, we just go to a new place. That`s not how it works, however. When you give yourself to God, you change, from the inside. You become "like Christ", as the Bible puts it. The Bible says that God "made" us, but he "begot" Jesus. You beget things like you, and make things different from you. A man begets a child, but makes a house. A bird begets an egg, which becomes a bird, but makes a nest. Jesus is like God, and begotten, we are unlike God, and made. (cont.

My post detailed symptoms of a specific mental attitude, menticide or the intense desire to kill off the questioning/reasoning mind.
Fundamentalism claims to have all the answers, so there should be no need for objective thought...period.
The book has spoken, and is quite clear on what you should think, what you should say, and what you should do.
Obeying mindless rules has taken the place of compassion for and identity with your fellow man. Any religion that takes away the mental autonomy of an individual, or that sanctifies hate ceases to be spiritual at all. It is totalitarianism masquerading as piety. That was my point.

Completely wrong. There is nothing in religion dictating that you believe people behave a certain way. Believing that all people are bad or all are good is a personal opinion. Some believers think people are generally good, some hold the opposite view. Christianity says absolutely nothing about non-believers, or "uncontrolled", being bad or vicious. In fact it goes the other way, saying that every single person is created by God, and has some of His pure goodness inside of him, it just needs to be revived to shine through.

"God is unnecessary. If we accept that the universe was started from the big bang, we then ask "what came before?" many people say "God". But, then, the only logical thing to ask is "what came before that?" this is where religions say "God has always been." Well, why not just save a step and say that the universe has always been and is slowly evolving?"

Everything in existence is unnecessary. That doesn`t mean it`s not there. And we can`t "save a step" because there is a God. Yes, in that respect it would be simpler to say there wasn`t. Religion is complicated because it is true. It`s easy to be simplistic when you don`t have to bother with facts.

I believe that is because all the major religions and beliefs stem from the same basic truths.

Actually, I am significantly more in awe of/intimidated by my insignificance now that I know there is a God than when I thought this life was all there was.

"Frankly I think atheists respect human life more than theists because they understand that that is all that exists"

We regard life as the ultimate holy gift, a blessing beyond all others. You regard it as a freak accident.

And no, I would not assume you hate all women, I would assume there are women that you hate, which may or may not be all of them.

The statement "I hate Christians", grammatically, means nothing more than there are Christians that I hate. I don`t see why anyone would assume "all" if it`s not there, nor why anyone would assume "some" if it`s not there. Grammatically, the sentence does not specify.

Siyanor, if you don`t specify "some" then "all" is what is implied. If I was a cashier and said, "here`s your change", would you not immediately assume that it was all of the money that I owed you, and not just `some` of it?

I don`t know, I don`t often watch Christian videos, or listen to their music. It seems extremist in some ways. I do agree with the message, however I don`t believe one has to look to a greater entity to help....morals don`t always come from religion. To know what is right and what is wrong should be common sense.

Do unto others, as you would have done unto you.

This basically means, if you don`t like people stealing from you, then you don`t do it yourself. If you don`t like being beat/hit, don`t do it...ect.

Oh, and the "golden rule" can be found in almost all religions. (Yes, even non-christians)

There is nothing wrong with having a religion that one believes in. It is the small percentage of radicals that get carried away that give any religion a bad name, and this is true for EVERY religion. I am agnostic myself, but I enjoy studying religions, all religions. I have found merit and some great values and views in every religion that everyone can take away and apply to their eveyday lives. I don`t believe there is such a thing as a wrong religion or a true religion. It`s all about faith and what feels right to you. Open your minds and accept that different views and opinions are what cause us to examine ourselves and better our lives.

That`s retarded. America is a secular nation, and the major religion of the country has little impact on how we act.

Furthermore, as an atheist I take pride in not stealing or murdering because it`s a dick move, not because an invisible friend tells me not to!

Why would it make you feel dirty? Even an atheist understands that you will be tempted to do things that are unacceptable and you can`t give in. Like when someone is going slow in the left lane, there`s a lot of thing your tempted to do.

Actually we do know. We want it that way. Being a slave to yourself means you`re in control. Instead of being a slave to a false belief. And because you where a "former agnostic" doesn`t mean you understand why people are atheist. I am a former christian but i still don`t understand 90% of whats going on in your minds.

Atheists are slaves to themselves, and they don`t even know. And I am sorry, not for saying that, but that they can not see that. I say this as a former atheist/agnostic.

Morteyur, I have never seen Baal leave a comment that wasn`t pertinent to the post. Just because you don`t grasp what he says doesn`t mean it`s not worth saying.

Anyone who proposes that humanity needs to believe in imaginary beings in order to be morally healthy, contributing individuals is f*cking nuts, and I`m not sorry. There`s nothing to be ashamed of, and no one alive who says there is has power to pass judgement on you after you are dead.

Btw, You can find many many extremely bad examples of secular children`s programming. Fomenting fear and anger over this video is the height of ignorance. Yes, It was bad, But less so than many others.

Hating on Christians is stupid. As stupid as hating Jews, Hindus, Buddhists.... etc.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. ~ Yoda

"I love you, you love me, we`re a happy family"

Beside being reminded of the naughty "children`s" shows that parody this kind of stuff, and Bubba`s big banana cream crime, there doesn`t seem to be anything particularly wrong with this video.
And Barney still beats this by at least two miles, just by the pure retardation factor.

Male 12
This is why people become pedophiles I`m sure of it, in fact Christians are the reason people rape kids. People are raised to be attracted to pure and innocent things and then they see this video, and next thing you know they`re skullf***ing kids in a Mexican basement somewhere.

Sigh.
"I truly want to slowly slice open their throats and splash around in their blood? Perhaps set up a slip-n-slide and slide naked down the river of blood?"
"I hate Christians."
"I`d love to blast their heads off with a shotgun."

See, when I compare certain people to the Klan, this is the kind of crap I`m talking about.

Cue "No, *my* prejudices are rational because......" arguments.

Have a look at this video. Then look through the comments, scroll down to Vagner`s comment: "I drat your mother just in her drating black ass!! with my big white dick!"

See that? That`s you. Enjoy your life.

Also, Davy:
"Guilt, Shame and Fear sure are powerful weapons"
Will you be adding that comment to the Mr. T video? I see more of all three in there.

You saw those three in this video though? No
