Haha my first thought when I read the headline was "Therefore, I MUST start a chocolate farm... for the good of the world... yes... >_>" *pictures herself swimming in a cocoa pool... droooool*
WTF? Shut up. Really. You can´t overrate perfection
As a Swiss that`s a mega insult. >-(
Me, baby, that`s what.

For that matter, my willpower over food is weakening.

Just had to say it.
Good thing I`m going to be richer than poop in 20 years.
I`m almost with you on what is driving climate change. I feel that humans have had an impact on the climate, but it is not enough to overcome to inherent dynamic nature of Earth that is really driving the changes in the climate. Also, I feel those same dynamic properties can easily revert any climate changes humans have caused (i.e. glacial melt alters oceanic currents).
I think people have been sacrificing accurate scientific modeling of these phenomenon to quickly dictate to the world that we need to change our ways.
The evidence shows quite clearly now we are in a cooling period now, Which if it continues would be far more dangerous not only to cocoa but to the breadbasket economies of the world.
I`m convinced it`s a natural cycle that man has no control over for good or bad, The Sun controls our climate far more than we could ever do.
But also... NO NOT ALSO. OMFGGGGG
Sorry for basically repeating my first comment. Just needed to clear it up again.
We cant let this happen.... this is worse than kicking a puppy. If this happens.... god i dont even know.... it would be horrible though.
But... but what if it is? What if it is?! WHAT WILL I DO IF IT IS?!?!??!
*Curls into a little ball and weeps silently in the corner*
Its likely that the worst case scenarios are exaggerations, and there is also a possibility the the Earth conditions can readjust to offset any climate change.
So either way you look at it, the cocoa will be fine.
It`s kind of like saying, Mankind may go extinct, if people quit eating, breathing, and procreating.
That sounded oddly racist.
Makes me feel a bit sad thinking that I was being ok by buying just fair trade chocolate. Hadn`t thought of the de-forestation aspect of it before.
