Wow. That was some drating annoying protest. Utterly pointless, something like that instantly ridicules your whole cause. What were they thinking?!

that was brilliant. it pisses me off that they tackled the guy as soon as he said something but did nothing about the girls, to avoid controversy. it was a good protest but they needed more people.

ok that was not necessary on both parts.
But It really wasnt necessary for the mall security to put the guy in hand cuffs and walk him out. Idiots. I understand animal rights and I`m all for them but that kinda got annoying but they never harmed anyone so it really wasnt necessary. Could this be illegal? It could be violating the first amendment.

The third guy in the black was a bike cop, that`s why he was cuffed. If a security guard asks you to leave and you don`t then you are trespassing, and the cop there took him away for that.

"PAUL BLART: MALL COP"

That second security guard who came up wanted to do something important so bad that he was looking for any reason at all to arrest someone.

Well as annoyed as you can be with the girls- the people watching are stupid sheep.

I believe 100% in adopting...but "What are you doing??? You`re breaking the law! This is PUBLIC property!!"

Um....no?

And then all the sheep follow suit. I wasn`t aware that Payless Shoes was private and you can protest without a permit in a privately owned shopping mall.

Of course, they are not allowed to handle someone like that if they are not resisting. They cannot place you under arrest- only restrain you IF a cop is coming or you`re a direct danger.

"However, why did they take the guy but none of the girls?"

Probably because men are routinely assumed to be in the wrong and women are routinely seen as a special class, so there would be much more chance of trouble if they took any of the women.

i think calling something un-american should be banned. it`s annoying as poo.

Wow, Really?, there is also a law that says that people have the right to property, so are you saying that it should be legal for someone to walk into your house and into your bedroom and protest you sleeping in till noon? IT`S CALLED PRIVATE PROPERTY!This was in Lloyd Center Mall in the Lloyd district of Portland Oregon in which it is owned by Glimcher Realty Trust. This means that as long as they do not violate Civil Rights by not allowing people based on their skin color they can prohibit whoever they want from

I hate Scamps, Not only are they puppymill puppies, but they often will take mixed breed puppies and sell them as if they were pedigree (ie the "designer" dog excuse).
"Hey Bob, whats this puppy?"
"well, it looks like its part lab... part poodle...part..uh..pug. We`ll call it a Labrapugadoodle YEAH! $1200 for that Designer dawgie!"

Hello? The only problem with this video is that Gary Coleman wasn`t the rent-a-cop. Now THAT would have been awesome (and yes, epic).

p.s. Puppy mills need to go. Use Animal rescue or go to the pound.

They did have a message. If you want a dog, there`s a lot of abused, malnourished and love-starved dogs in shelters. Many of them simply on a theoretical conveyor belt to the death chamber.

If you can, get a special needs pet if you have the ability. They need extra love.

Yeah I`m getting all preachy but I do so because I can`t adopt any pets at the moment myself. :(

Here in Canada, cases have held that picketing in the mall is not appropriate because it`s trespass. The dissenting judge, however, noted that malls are the only public meeting space we really have, and that picketing should be permitted.

In a later case union reps were permitted to set up in a mall outside of the store where they were holding a membership drive because the worker`s rights to unionized trumped those of the mall (and because setting up at every mall exit and bugging everyone would be worse presumably).

In another case people handing out pamplhets in an airport were evicted and charged with trespass. The court held that the airport has public areas where freedom of speech should be permitted and protected, and private zones which were not subject to freedom of speech.

The safest place to protest a store is on the sidewalk outside (provided it`s a public sidewalk and you`re not causing a safety hazard.).

The other problems of the world do not take away from the facts of animal cruelty, and the resources are not directly transferable. Remember, all this is happening in the "Land of the Free", the security guys waited for a guy to turn up for them to have a go at, obviously as they were afraid to be seen tackling young ladies and grabbed the guy. If a guest in my house voiced an opinion I disagreed with, I certainly wouldn`t get myself and my friend to throw him to the floor and cuff him. Painter, I`m sorry that you have a blanket bias against cheerleaders, maybe you should consider that that kind of attitude could come across sounding a little bigoted. Beware what you say, it can reveal a little too much about you.

pdjr, on private property, we have the right to not listen to a bunch of slobbering screaming cheeleaders. Sorry, but I hate cheeleaders, of any kind. They have 100 percent of public space to air their grievance, they even can get permission to obstruct traffic, and shut down public facilities to do so, but privately owned buildings are looked at here like guests in your house, they have to behave or there`s the door.

Puppy mills are wrong, but so is a pack of screaming dogs outside the store. Pestering people never wins them over, and screaming sure doesn`t. Really with people starving and the onslaught of the worlds last 1 percent of drinkable water being polluted and disappearing..is this the right cause?

when he took a step away from the guard when they went for him that was fleeing and they have the legal right to use the force needed to detain him and escourt him off the property OR wait for police to arrive. but they do not have to act at all. what they do and how they act are governed by their employers and what the state allows. and they only took the guy b/c he was fighting with the guard undoubtedly said some poo thinking legally he was safe the guard decided to stop being nice and do his job the guy tried to flee and was taken down with minimal force detained and prolly escourted off the property or to the security office to awair the police. the girls atleast had a couple braincells that werent destroyed by animal rights BS and shut up after the guards came in to assist the first guard b/c he looked like he couldnt take down a child muchless one of the protestors.
yay! these idiots have provoked my longest post to date! good for you!

Yeah I agree with this. It`s disturbing the peace; it isn`t fair to the other stores nearby Scamp`s to have all this shouting outside of their stores. :\

They could have protested differently and in a less-annoying manner. I too would have taken them more seriously if they were doing something like handing out pamphlets about animal cruelty involved with Scamp`s.

It`s private property and these dipwads were asked nicely to leave several times. Who knows what occurred during the time the camera was not in view, But we do know it was something or else the guy wouldn`t have been taken down and cuffed.

Security guards are very well aware they aren`t cops (Most of them anyways). But, They do have the right to maintain order and detain people until the police arrive.

"A mall is not public property, but their high school is. So people who think they are a bunch of douchebags, have a right to interupt their geometry class."
Actually...there are cases that have gone to the supreme court in which they ruled that if something is disturbing the learning process it is alright for them to be kicked out...
"It`s funny how those americans think they`ve got freedom of speech."
I am an American and I resent that statement on the sole fact that radical left wing Ash-holes think they have all the right in the world to do what they want...I live in inner city Minnesota where there are TONS of people like this and it angers me...

I also would like to say that if there are animals in that establishment that are being mistreated, the people that are responsible should be found and brought to court and it should be shut down.

Actually, mall cops are allowed to detain people and escort them off the property especially in situations like that. Had I been at the mall at that time I would have yelled at them first, yes they might be selling sick animals, however not taking the animals in to treat any illness, is even worse.
Then I would kick their butt`s for disturbing what could have been a relaxing day of shopping

Annoying? Yep. Law suite against contracted security, mall management company for assault and illegal detention? Most likely. They are security guards with no power to arrest and detain outside the limited powers granted by the state in commission of the crime of shoplifting and even then it`s the same law that applies to shop owners/keepers or employees. Call a cop, observe and take notes that`s all non-state commissioned security is allowed to do.

That guard should have been sacked... for not arresting ALL of them. Naive children shouting idiotic slogans while they stand there in cow-killed leather belts and shoes, hair styled and make-up all tested on animals, waving pom-poms which originally were made from geese plucked alive, while they SMS all their friends using EMF radiation that is slowly killing us all.

Fact is, if the world had only a few million people, things like this wouldn`t be necessary. But humans are in plague proportions on this planet, and the only way to service their needs and wants is mass production, whether its breeding puppies, battery hens or slaughtering 50 million cows a day. It`s not a pretty fact, but we are all responsible, just for being alive and being part of that overstretched society.

I could care less if the protesters are "right" factually, they are demonstrating illegally making a public disturbance on private property. The security guards are just doing their jobs trying to protect the rights of the business owners who have been licensed by the owners of the mall to do business.

Again this is PRIVATE PROPERTY! They should have called in cops and had all those dumb poos arrested.

"...*sigh* cuz they`re girls!!! poor bloke!!!"

Yeah, she`s right.

Mall cops see the guy as more of a threat than four girls just because he took a step away from them as they tried to grab him. Funny thing is, he`s probably got less muscle mass than any one of the girls.

Oh, and he`s wielding a weapon of mass destruction.

Oh wait, nevermind.

That only applies to mine. ;)

P.S.

Next time you put cheerleaders in the description, make sure they`re actual cheerleaders. These gals were posers. Ugly, untalented, out of sync, and fully clothed.

All of which, do -NOT- turn me on.

They are right. Most puppies in pet stores are from puppymills. Where the momma and papa dogs see each other across roach-infested, sh*t infested rooms, and mate. The "doctor`s" instruments are never cleaned, nor sterilized. They they snatch the puppies, most probably not given enough time to wean, clean them up, and ship them to pet stores. And there, the adult dogs mate again and again until they die. Note down the names of the man, or woman, that bred the puppies in your local petstore. If you can`t find their names through research, then they`re most likely "doctors" running a puppymill.

At least they knew how to get their message across. Ever hear a kid scream in a mall? They can be over at the Macy`s side, screaming over DADDY I WANNA CANDY! fifty miles away, and you`d hear them as if they were bawling in your ear.

Sometimes I wonder...if we`re all just long overdue for another epic flood...then you`ll start arguing over who is right, over who is wrong...like it`s almost expected of you...
