So, no, Almighty. The statement was correct the first time.
Or perhaps just righteous indignation of intolerance towards sexual orientation.
"If you ban underage smoking, what will happen to the child that smokes illegally?" "I dunno" "Any other crimes that you can name have no punishment?! You`ve never thought about it?! "
Underage smoking. You punish the sellers, not the children, it lowers the rates, it cuts social acceptance.
In other news, only about 6% of prolifers actually stand against abortion in case of rape/incest/abuse or in the case where the mother`s life is in jeopardy.
Meanwhile 24% of pro-choicers are in favour of abortions of full term babies, without restriction.
don`t bother replying to me from your high horse about intolerance and moral ambiguity, because if you do, you are actually inferior, because you think that you`re thinking progressively, and you`re not. prove me right, faggots.
Guess what else was accepted for thousands of years before people grew some brains? Slavery, racism, oppression of women, etc, etc. Oh but they were going on for a REALLY LONG TIME so of course that makes them perfectly acceptable. Sigh.
(By the way, I`m aware that all that still goes on, but at least it`s not widely accepted/allowed anymore (at least in the West))
^ There he is supporting Prop 8 like a huge crazy douche.
Bullsh*t. Who do you think gives preachers their licenses to wed people? Marriage is first and foremost a state matter - any decoration of the actual ceremony is superfluous and irrelevant.
As for the video... pure brilliance.
I have heard of couples that are married in the eyes of their church, yet are unmarried in the eyes of the state. They honestly would prefer not to be married in the state`s eyes, because even though they are missing out on benefits, they have the added bonus of increased privacy.
Believe it or not, there are valid points to your argument, even for Christians.
Why? If you want your marriage to be a contract between you, your partner, and your state, then it`s a state matter. If you want your marriage to be a contract between you, your partner, and your god, then it`s a church matter.
I vote that we separate the two completely, and if you make your contract with the state, you don`t get your marriage sanctified by the church, and if you make your contract with the church, your state doesn`t recognise the marriage and doesn`t give you the rights, privilages and tax breaks that they give to state-married couples.
I think that sounds fair. If god-botherers don`t want the state interfering with their marriages, then let`s take the state out of their marriages altogether, benefits and all. :)
But on subject, the church should stay out of matters of State. The problem is that since marriage is both a matter for the church AND state, there is always going to be a fierce disagreement on how it should be viewed. Marriage, by definition, is a LEGAL bond between two people. This bond ties them together as partners in all future decisions in life. Thus marriage, by definition, is a matter of state. Even the bible is false in calling Marriage an act under God. Let me explain. In those times, couples were united under God. This wasn`t a legally binding contract, thus could be severed at will, which was rare. These unions were bonds of love. The word marriage is in the bible as a replacement for the phrase spiritual union.
heh, life imprisonment for abortions aye
...another story, but at least he is thinking about us (in a positive way)! And that is a start.
I also have another article that specifically highlights all the LGBT sections of the agenda, but the site contains more racier content, and I`m not sure if I`ll get modded.
But in a nut shell: He plans to make Civil Unions exactly like marriage. Only difference would be the names. And a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet :).
He also wants to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, and opposes anything that tries to make gay marriage unconstitutional.
He want to repeal the "Don`t Ask, Don`t Tell" policy, get adoption rights for all couples, gay or otherwise, develop a strategy for AIDS/HIV, and he also supports including LGBTs in the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
It`s all there and even more! Whether or not he will actually do all of this is an
Society is slow sometimes. We can`t go from 0 to 60, even small things like what gender can marry what gender will take generations.
