    That... oww...
I have glasses, and now I plan to keep them forever.
Contacts were bad enough, but I don`t want to have to go through this, even if it`s only once and I have anesthetics.

Not like I would need it. With my perfect vision. But if I did, I`d rather use contacts then deal with a live eye skinning.

seems simple, cut the sclara (the clear portion that has almost no blood vessels) and fix the cornea, then reattach the sclara. Normally stuff like this would have made me sick, but after A&P it just doesn`t even phase me.

so if I show you all a video of a heart surgery, you`re going to refuse it when needed?

You do know that the patients can`t see or feel anything right? All surgeries are gross as hell and without anesthesia absolute torture, this video wasn`t even that gross.

There`s a difference between needing heart surgery and having this done to your eyes.

I like wearing glasses. Personally, I feel I look better with them than without. I also don`t like things near my eyes to begin with so why would I go out of my way to have it done to me?

Heart surgery is a matter of life or death. Having my eyes corrected isn`t. You can`t compare the two.

You know, wearing glasses seems like a hype...I`m the only one without them.
But, if I would need glasses, I`d wear glasses instead of having this surgery:
    1. expensive...Really expensive...
    2. unnecessary, combined with the costs that makes it worse
    3. The chance of failure is small, but if one little thing goes wrong you will lose your eyes.

It`s a risk you don`t HAVE to take, and you`re risking your eyes for it. Ofcourse it would be great not to have to wear glasses all the time but I don`t think I would take the surgery.
Enfin, I`m happy I don`t need glasses the first place.

How`re we complainers? If you want to have this done, then do it.

For some reason it`s ok to say "Hey, that wasn`t so bad!", but it`s not ok to say you were put off by it?

Plus you`re complaining about people complaining, so you`re no better.

No offence, but at nearly 21 I won`t be told by anyone, especially people I don`t know, how I should or shouldn`t feel about something.

Alright, i gotta say that looks like it was more painful than i expected it would be lol. Really, i don`t freak out when i see videos of heart surgery and stuff, but i have a natural repulsion of things going near my eyes, so it freaks me out a bit. Stop assuming people are losers because this creeps them out. Everyone has one irrational fear. I may still get Lasik some day though.

LASIK is not bad. I didn`t watch the whole video because I had a similar procedure done called PRK and I`ve seen this done plenty of times...I`m assuming they used the mechanical cutting device otherwise people wouldn`t be complaining how "gross" it is. Most doctors use an all laser procedure where they cut the flap with a laser.

Try finding a video of that procedure they chemically remove that layer of skin before they do the correcting, then it grows back.

With LASIK and PRK there is no pain in the actual procedure and they give you Valium beforehand to calm your nerves. The real discomfort comes in the 24 hours after the surgery but it isn`t a big deal.

For you that wear contacts or glasses and refuse to do this, get a free consultation with a doctor and I`m sure you`d change your mind.

I`ve seen this procedure done many times via videos and even when my father had it, they let me sit in and watch. The patient is awake during the procedure and doesn`t feel anything. Unless the doctor is COMPLETELY stupid and doesn`t know a thing about the procedure they can`t really screw up. cutting the lense is auto-guided by the tool, the laser is computer controlled and only focused by the technician/doctor. It`s safe and works exceptionally well.

Don`t worry guys, it`s totally cool. They completely numb your eyes before doing this. I had a similar solution on my eyes for an optomotrist visit, he poked my eye with an instrument and I did not even know he did. I just thought he came really close, that`s how numb your eyes are.

I`ve had this operation. It was slightly painfull when they clamped my eye open so I wouldn`t blink, but other then that I didn`t feel anything. Smelled like poo tho, from the gas they used to laser pew pew. Only thing that hurt afterwards tho was my wallet. And I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. Except old people, they can`t fix ageing, so forget it!

I`m no eye surgeon, But have seen this procedure done on Discovery channel and other videos. It looked like he cut to much of the flap with the microkeratome. This person`s eye bled more than any other I`ve seen. Seemed like the Dr. had to spend several minutes just repositioning the flap as well.

For comparison - Check how cleanly this one is done.
