"People have been playing with small balls long before the Egyptians my friend..."

Yes I agree, people must have been using stone spheres for recreation long before then.

Well, this guy can make you some new ones, and all it takes is stuff you find in your recycling bin, glass and wet newspaper... Amazing!!

Yeah they look really expensive when you look how much work they put in it but most marbles aren`t handmade...In another episode of how it`s made they showed a marble factory that makes two thousand marbles in 10 minutes...Yeah...that`s a lot. Still pretty cool. I really want a store where I can design my own marbles :P

I have seen something like this before. It really makes me want to make my own marble. Did anyone else notice how long it took? Like 16 hours to melt the first bit of glass and all the other pieces and then the thing at the end to cool it down? I didn`t know it was this complex.

Vhreio,

If you read novels, and like murder-mystery sorts of books, then you might check out, "Shattered," by Dick Francis. The book is about a glass-blower who gets tangled up in the events surrounding his friend`s death. It`s a good read and, of course, addresses the subjuect of glass-blowing to some extent.

In case you haven`t read him, Francis is an old-school, vanilla sort of writer, but I really like him. If Grisham, Rowling, Patterson, and some of the more famous contemporary authors are color, then Francis is black & white. It`s a compliment, though, as I like his style (and old movies).
