Caused me to spit out the meatballs, I just happen to be eating.
And I could be totally wrong here (having never even met a Kiwi or Aussie..), but I thought the way to tell between Kiwi/Aussie accents was the whole `fish and chips` thing..
Aussie: Feesh and cheepsKiwi: Fush and chups
Australian: I want to have some some sex with a fish on wednesday.New Zealand: I wanna hev some six with a fush on winzday.
Correct summary of the comments, no?
The reason is that all we Americans here of "British" accents is from BBC America. I have a friend from South Africa and it took me a couple of months to notice the differences between his accent and an English accent. I didn`t know where FoTC was from but I knew that they didn`t have an English accent.
Uh, its really easy.
Thats like saying "I`d love to see you tell the difference between a Southern Accent and a California Accent"
First of all, new zealand and english (i assume you mean english, because you cannot have a british accent- britain includes scotland, wales and northern ireland too) Accents are not even slightly similar. And secondly, despite having never been to new york or chicago I am completely confident that i could differentiate.
It`s fine to make a mistake, but you don`t have to be such a prick about it.
and it doesnt change the fact that british comedy is still horrible..now it just says new zealand comedy is just as bad.
Don`t watch Flight of the Conchords videos anymore.
What is it with Americans not being able to distinguish between the Australian/Kiwi accents and British accents? I assure you, they are quite different.
luckily she`s not my friend anymore.
