They like to do that, Kurei. They even misspelled words in one of my submissions...

Why the hell did Newsweek split that into two pages? There was _one_ drating sentence on page 2! No need for that gay splitting-of-articles-into-millions-of-short pages that is so popular now.

Stupid? Not at all. She made the best choice to call the police. It not only may have saved her life, but someone elses.

It isn`t false arrest - she wasn`t arrested for drunk driving (since she wasn`t driving at the time) - she was arrested for public intoxication and underage drinking. And she wasn`t stupid, she had the introspection to see what was happening to her, and called for help. I hope she gets it. She shouldn`t be condemned for calling 911 - she may have saved her life in numerous ways (and maybe someone else`s too).

It wasn`t an act of stupidity, it was an act of willingness to face the consequences of her actions and a plea for help. She knew what she was doing. Could end up being the smartest thing she does.

She was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle WHILE PARKED?

Wow, either it`s a false arrest or that bitch SUCKS at driving.

" I suggest she has a case to sue for false arrest here, no matter how much she was "crying out for help" in their opinion."

If she didn`t want them to arrest her, she wouldn`t have called. She really wanted them to... so why would she sue for false arrest? I mean... she could.... but why would she want to is my question.

Hey, at least she didn`t kill or cripple someone, better to spend a night in the pokey with your record sealed than to take a life.

I agree with Lion, something seems fishy about the whole thing. But in all fairness, she probably was driving.

Um... not that I`m encouraging drink-driving, anyone who drives a car after even 1 beer is a douchebag IMHO (check the studies, even 1 beer affects your reaction and perception time dangerously), BUT... "she was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated... Her keys were in her purse and she was parked... She did tell us that she had been driving around for hours."

WTF?? You can`t arrest someone for being in a parked car, you can only arrest them if you actually OBSERVE them driving while drunk. Her SAYING she had been driving is only the hearsay of an intoxicated and therefore legally inadmissable witness. I suggest she has a case to sue for false arrest here, no matter how much she was "crying out for help" in their opinion.

To me it just sounds like an attention whore.

She called for help as she recognized she had trouble she doesnt manage to handle. She is not stupid, she decided to be responsible.

Your post is candidate for IAB Biggest Fail of 2009.

Full of fail. the call was a "call for help" because her "life was spiraling out of control". That being said, I`d say she`s actually one of the smarter teenageR`s. She actually tried to get help.

@ Kurei: "Stupidest" and "Teenage" = FAIL.

Also, she didn`t get arrested for drunk driving - she wasn`t even driving. She took responsibility so that she didn`t hurt herself or someone else and to maybe try to improve her lifestyle. If you think this is a stupid move on her part, maybe you`ll reconsider if you were to get hit by a drunk driver.

Therefore, I hereby declare this post to be full of fail.

This is what Jesus would do if he got drunk... and if he lived in the world of today. It`s not necessarily "stupid" of the girl, but kind of... righteous.
