People like him, who have 100 pounds or more to lose (and do it) are an inspiration to everyone whether you have 10 pounds of 100 pounds to lose.

Thanks for finding this!

Its great to see the story behind his weight issues, and how he overcame it. I have total admiration and hope that he can become an inspiration to many who find themselves stuck in the same trap.

"Death by fire?!
Ugh, that man is messed up in the head."

^^
idk, but if I was a teenager and weighed 650 lbs, given that life makes you miserable every single day, I`d prolly think the same.

This is very inspirational. I nearly cried after reading this. Whenever I see an obese person, I always wonder why they don`t try to at least lose a bit of weight, or try to eat healthier. Now I know why, life had made them very depressed. :/ But good for him though, he looks very happy now. :]

"And yes, it would have been ok if someone said "I hope no atheists take over this forum." And it would be perfectly ok for me to tell the poster to go drat him or her self. And it`s perfectly ok for you, or anyone else, to tell me to go drat myself. I think ideas should be freely exchanged, even if I disagree with them."

You just contradicted yourself. You said you don`t want people saying this is a miracle or praising God. Then why did you just say that you think people should freely express their ideas? You probably just said that because you didn`t want to lose a fight. It`s people like you who got bush into office. >.>

Good for this guy. In the United States` "fast food-must have it now" society, obese people always think they have to have surgery to "correct" their problem. When really all they need to do is have some inner strength and fortitude to make it happen. I admit to being the jerk that doesn`t particularly enjoy the sight of fat people, so I hope this catches on.

he`s lucky that he found people to pay for it him. Most people wouldn`t be able to afford all that surgery.

He had his teeth done, as all the sugar and sweeteners from the crap he used to eat damaged them, and he also had laser eye surgery

Shut up, boredjford, this thread has NOTHING to do with religion, yet you make a superfluous comment trying to turn this into a religious debate. No one has tried to "hijack" his story. I`m seriously wondering where the hell the idea of inserting religion into this thread came to you.

I read the first paragraph (written by him) and stopped. He was molested. By his best friend. That`s why he was obese. I makes no sense: "Someone molested me last night, I must eat till I explode!"

I don`t want anyone praising God for this or calling it a miracle. It was hard work and dedication of entirely secular origin--no supernatural manipulation was necessary.

Boredfjord:
You mean by inserting something espousing their personal philosophy in an otherwise neutral thread?

Maybe try not doing it then? Seriously, if my first comment was "Jeez, I hope no atheists try taking over the thread" would that`ve been ok? No, but you seem to think it`s alright when it`s your viewpoint?

You know zip about religious tolerance.

The part that disturbs me the most is that he got molested by another child.

How screwed up do you have to be to molest somebody at age 6?

Personally, I think it`s great to see someone take action to change their life, instead of becoming complacent and accepting their situation as their fate. Good for him.
