It takes more energy to bring 4 cars to 100mph.Therefor it expells more energy when coming to a stop. Therefor there is a greater force in the collision.
I`m skeptical at the way the bracket holding the case flew off. It might have been a different story if a huge block of concrete was behind supporting it.

That was a nice waste of time, they clearly just wanted to crash a train into something and finally found their excuse
Someone failed physics then, if the same amount of acceleration is applied to (a) a single engine, or (b) an engine and 4 carriages all weighing the same, then if (a)`s speed is 100 mph, then (b)`s speed will be 20 mph with the same force applied. A single carriage would have had just as much momentum as a train with any number of carriages, because its acceleration can be applied to higher velocity instead of being divided into moving more mass.

Where did the fire come from? That confused me, it looks like the old style action movies where things explode really easily.
