every body just shut up about it being wasteful, this is an early prototype, with no weapons, itll be going against missles,so guns would be usless,in the future, this wont look usless,im sure.

Is this the first step towards a war in which we send only robot armies to fight another nations own robot armies? A war in which not a single life is lost? I say it is...

But the transition phase will be pretty bloody as we have robots killing humans...

STOP SAYING IT HAS ALOT OF GUNS.there pulse thrusters, squirting fuel like machine guns, but they arent guns.so read the comments before you go screaming it has alot of guns.pulse thrusters squirt little bursts of fuel, unlike other rockets that stream fuel.it makes em easier to control.AND I DONT GIVE A DRAT ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS OF WAR,SO SHUT UP ABOUT IT!

There are still rules to war, these rules haven`t changed from the civil war to World War 2, and even to modern day war. The only thing that has changed is the name fighting, and the technology that name is using.
The only reason you hear more about violent things in war now as compared to WW2 recordings/footage/newscasts, civil war, and so on is because of the media. With our world being so connected, it only takes minutes for brutual footage to reach the world.. where as in WW2 it took weeks to months.. some times never even leaving the battlefield.

War is the same. Humans are the same.

When it comes to War and killing ourselves, we are experts. We are savage. We are destructive.
Out of all the skills man has, War/killing has always been the top and it always will be. It`s just who we are.
Stop asking for a war-less world of pure peace. It will never happen. Humans are too... animalistic.

how i see it there are two sides to morality, there is love and there is justice. if war could be fought perfectly it would be the epitome of justice.

"There`s still strategy probably even more now."

the strategy was what i was calling barbaric, not the means by which they kill each other.

"Sometime yes people have to defend themselves but there is no honor in killing."

war is not just killing, there is diplomacy, there is strategy, and hopefully, there is a victory in the name of something just.

There`s still strategy probably even more now.

"fighting using barbaric guerrilla techniques"
I`ve never seen fighting without barbaric techniques putting a sword/musket ball/bullet through someones skull is never civilized.

"heres what there strategy was,a guy would stand there, probably there commander, and say,"fire!",and then there row of guys would shoot at once."

completely not true, the strategy was from where you positioned your troops and when you chose for them to advance or retreat or charge. if a good enough strategic move was made the other army`s commander would concede defeat in order to save lives.

wow,can everybody just SHUT UP to there opinions of war?this wont KILL people, itll save them by destroying incoming missles.maybe nukes,if we ever get to that stage.and yes, people did fight with muskets in rows.heres what there strategy was,a guy would stand there, probably there commander, and say,"fire!",and then there row of guys would shoot at once, but then they found it was more efective for soldiers to shoot idependitley, like today.and once again, lockheed has found an awsome, and very effective, way to destroy things.

"Wars never had honor thats just a method of convincing people to kill each other which goes against everything honorable."

what about when a country is defending itself? should a country just let another country invade because war is dishonorable? there is honor in a just war. but we have been convinced there is no honor in any war so we end up entering unjust wars and fighting using barbaric guerrilla techniques. if you think our military techniques haven`t fallen since the days of napoleon then you are mistaken.

Some of my favorite quotes regarding war
"War. War never changes."- an awsome game
"Only a fool or a fraud talks tough or romantically about war." - John McCain
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."-Albert Einstein

11volcom11: `...that a black president comes along is and your saviour!(who also has hitler qualities in his motivational speeches). think about all sides of something is all im saying.`

That phrase is more right than you know. Obama says he wants to start an army made up entirely of civilians, with equal control to the military, but answering directly to Obama. Hitleresque indeed.

"Civilians need to look at this demo and understand that this is the type of technology that could quite possibly end up being used against THEM."

osirisascend has a point, im not sure why people are bashing him. this has riot control and more written all over it. and some guys said "Especially with obama... GROW THE HECK UP! u probably believe in 2012" to his comment. the 2012 thing aside, this is exactly what the american goverment wants. i know i will get alot of hate for saying this, but the american goverment wants its people to not think about what the goverment is doing. they want a president who can tell you anything and you will agree. a coincidence that after the worste eight years you americans have seen curtesy of george bush, that a black president comes along is and your saviour!(who also has hitler qualities in his motivational speeches). think about all sides of something is all im saying.

come on guys, i thought IAB was smarter than this. It`s not shooting anything, its using the "Parasorber" concepts. The "muzzle flashes" you`re seeing are actually pulse thrusters being fired, like if you ever played that old lunar lander game

all it does is keep the vehicle stable/move it in a predesignate direction. Unfortunately, this process is not fuel efficient, and that would explain its short flight time.

Actually, if you learned your history, because of this, war was almost entirely based upon strategy, positioning, maneuvering, and training of the soldiers. Reduced accuracy does not mean increased luck, it means decreased casualties. Although war was horribly "inefficient", it caused minimal damage, killed minimal people, and the best strategist usually won in the end. An idealistic war in my eyes.

Wow, this is why accurate descriptions are important. This is a kill vehicle, the Multiple Kill Vehicle is a booster rocket that caries 8-20 of these smaller kill vehicles. They are meant to maneuver and collide with incoming missiles.

They are not designed to hover long-term, they do not have weapons, and they cannot "track" on their own as everything I`ve read suggests tracking will be done on the carrier vehicle which will direct these smaller kill vehicles.

look at godoffej`s comment, this will be going against missles, not infantry.i dont know how it will kill the missle, but lockheed is probably the best war-time aircraft manufacuer, there commercial airplane desighn number is small, but they built my favorite fighter of WWII,the P-38 lightning.im expecting they will find a way to destroy the missle.

danthew:its impossible to recharge a rocket.if it uses solid fuel it would be impossible without changing the rocket itself.if it uses liquid fuel it would have to connect itself to a tank of fuel.i dont see anyway they could do that.

Male 330
also, those were rockets, not guns.they dont sound like guns.also, this is kinda usless idea.enemy troops would surley hear it at how much noise it makes.they could wait behind a corner and pop out and shoot it.it needs to be quiter.it looks hard for it to aim at how much the darned thing rattles around.i would recomend rotors.and for anybody with complaints about that, they could put duckts around the rotors.

ummmmmm,i must ask,why do you need a robot that can hover?theres a remote-controlled robot with tracks called SWORDS that can be equiped with a machine gun, gernade launcher, and rocket pods.by the way, this is testing its ability to hover,NOT its aiming ability.it didnt say they were testing its weapon capabilatey.oh,another robot that was built by a couple of guys in a large garage is the ripsaw.the milatary watched a test run of it,boy, they were impressed!it was fast and it could be armed with a machine gun.the two guys even threw a board into the tracks and started it.the board hit the sprocket where the tracks connectid to the ripsaw.the board was ripped in half.

Dakkar: this thing can hover for 20 seconds, which means it`s useful just once. Kinda like a grenade, the MKV will kill anything in a radius in a short amount of time. I realize it`s just a prototype, but still. And I insist throwing a frag grenade inside a building achieves the same thing, at a much lower cost. I`m no specialist, but I`m thinking it won`t be a long time before this things are actually useful. They need to improve the hover time, else it`s just as useful as a grenade.

Not really sharpest, this thing can provide sustained covering and suppressive fire. Not only that but it can kill with that fire too.

I imagine it would make urban warfare a bit safer. Around corners and in buildings, this thing could be a godsend.

cool! Thats some good computing on that thing to keep it steady and track like that. I think the four angled blasts are stabilising jets and the gun is on the front, seen on the last test.

It would be cooler if it goes back into its starting hole to recharge the rocket.
