uh, fake? I was using an older camera and was recording and had a lightning bolt shoot down about 15ft away, the Camera`s circuits, batter/ etc shutdown. And that was the day i learned lightning bolts have EMP charges, i just never knew someone found a way around that With a Camera.

Doubt very much that it`s fake. The light given off by the bolt lights up the whole area consistant with its position.

15 feet (4.5m) away from a lightning strike. RIGHT, you do know the you would have suffered flash burns and being knocked unconscious right?

Also that guy is about 25m (82 feet) away from the strike, well out of the "EMP" range. drating crazy though. Further proof that nature is drating awesome and will kill you if it feels like it.

It didn`t hit the power pole, It just looked like it, It hit on that island in the background. I`ve Personally witnessed 2 lightning bolts, 1 within 30 yards, The other within 10 yards. Yes, you will feel your hair stand on end. Yes, It can knock you down. Yes, One can deafen you for several minutes. The first one, Blew a dinner plate sized hole in the pavement. The second split a neighbors tree in half and left it burning! (It also cracked my bedroom window)

Steyene: 15ft away would`ve knocked someone down and deafened them yes. Flash burns ? Not necessarily so, Although it`s a definite possibility. Likely hood of wetting/defecation on oneself 80%. At 15ft you`ve technically "been hit" by lightning.

It was only a 58 second clip. No one here can wait 58 seconds? Besides, it built up some tension, I was waiting for it to happen. I wouldn`t want it to be a 5 second video with just a lightning strike, then it would have been like, oh, a lightning strike.

Since we`re all talking about really close strikes, how about a strike 8 feet away and another 2 feet away. I still suffer from really bad headaches because of them.

The one 8 feet away shattered a picture window I was standing next to, which showered shards of glass all over me.

The one 2 feet away was at a red light and I had to open a car door to re-close the door. Upon opening the door, the bolt struck in the small gap between the body of the car and the car door and blew a chunk out of the concrete curb.

I had that happen to me once. Was the most scared I have ever been in my life.

It happened a long time ago when I was in the 6th or 7th grade, and I was sitting in the office after school waiting for my mother to come pick me up and there was a telephone pole about 100 feet from the office.

First it started off as really loud static, and then it built up into a high pitched sound, and next thing we knew a bolt of lightening struck the telephone pole and the flash was so intents it was almost like looking into a flash bomb grenade as one goes off. Left everyone blind for a few seconds with ringing in their ears.

My mother and I are very electro-sensitive (she more so than I) and when lightning has been that close to us, geeze, it is the /worst/ feeling just before the strike. It`s almost like you can feel the particles in the air aligning or something and the hair on the back of your neck starts to rise.

Shadow Xein: nope. only hurts if you`re actually hit. you may however experience chest pains, and shooting agony in your left arm, in which case you`re having a heart attack. but anyways. try going somewhere like croatia when it hasn`t rained for 8 months, then getting stuck outside in the storm. i tells ya, it`s scary as hell, but only lethal if you`re struck, and even then it`s not a guarantee.

    I, too, had a close-to-lightning experience.

To make it simple and to the point, we were driving home from the grocery store on a rainy Sunday evening, and when we least expect it, BANG! Lightning struck about 50ft away and we almost crashed because the sound scared us fuckless. Like another user said, it was like a flashbang, but a bit worse.
