It`s a nice story, but...if he had just paid the debt when he got to home the next day, none of us would think twice about the story. So when you think about it, the thing that makes the story stand out is not that he paid his debt but that he delayed paying it for 40 years.

If I had the money I borrowed to others back this instant, I`d be...not exactly rich, but wouldn`t be unhappy. I don`t think that an average person would do this, but it`s nice to know that there are people who will.

aww, that`s so cute. I remember I still owe a penny to the lunchlady from when I was 5, and 20p to another teacher when I was 9..

gorgack2000, you hit the nail on the head!!!!!!
can`t find the link, but a 92 yr old grandma of 20 scratched off a ticket in the store, left it on the counter and went home. Some how he calls the woman and tells her,her ticket was the Million dollar winning ticket, which she claimed thanks to that young man. He could have kept that and not said a word! There are NICE people in the world, only we hear only the rotten crap because news channels with only nice stuff wouldn`t sell commercial time.
screw Happy Holidays political correct b.s.

"Merry Christmas" IAB people!!!, even if your Jewish like me!!!

Indeed this is interesting because there are people with such high ideals of morality, yet it seems redundant since if anyone were to give a homeless man $5, its not really `lent`, you expect the homeless man to spend it.

Always nice to have a heart-warming story between the reports of terrorist attacks and child murders ^_^

Day 1: wait till occupant leaves home for a moment, leave check and note (with email address) on door.

Day2: reply to email and suggest meeting at hotel restaurant across town on Day 3.

Day 3: Secure in the knowledge that occupant will be out for the better part of the day, knowing he has money because he is donating the £200 to charity, break into his house and steal all his stuff.

hahaha, He`d repay as soon as he could afford it...
Still, it`s made me a touch less depressed about the State Of Things These Days. With a capital S, O, T, T, and D.

40 years?
Please, the guy obviously gave a falsified check, which bounced, and he only wants to get back in contact to steal stuff from his abode....

I wish there were more stories like this in the news rather than the usual murders and beatings.

I guess that guy called the news about it??

Wow, that`s really nice of him. But one thing I don`t get, is how the hell do people hear about this? Like news crews and stuff?
