What makes no sense to me is why she returned a box. It had to be open because she had been putting money in it. How often do you return food anyway? Am I missing something? Also, if you`re storing your money in something, wouldn`t you take the food out?

Youd be surprised. When my grandfather died, we found ALL of his money, in a few paper envelopes, in a normal shopping bag in the top of one of the kitchen cabinets. We almost threw it out!!! I totally believe it.

The old bat should have given an award though..... or like THANKS

If she`s dumb enough to stick her life savings in a BOX, then return the box tho the store (wtf?), then she pretty much DESERVES to have all her money spent on someone else.

For those who don`t realize it, there are legal ramifications from not reporting found money over a certain amount (depending on the municipality). Even carrying more than $2K cash in some areas is enough to get you arrested (stupid, I know). They did the lawful (and moral) thing and turned it in to the police.

As for the ones who call shenanigans for her hiding the money instead of using a bank. Remember a few months ago when a couple of banks filed bankruptcy? Yeah. Well, about 90 years ago, it happened everywhere and no one got their money back. You`d be surprised where old people hide their money. We found about $5K in my granny`s house in various places. Old shoe box in the back of the bathroom cabinet, ziplock baggie in the toilet tank... those weren`t the strangest places either.

As for the store restocking something that had obviously been opened, I`m not going to shop there. Unless the old woman glued it shut, the stock clerk must take the short bus to work.

If you are retarded enough to suggest euthanasia for an old, probably senile woman, then you deserve castration.

i don`t buy it. i bet some lazy so-called journalist has done some `research` on the internet and discovered this story and printed it as fact. It`s probably already on snopes.

i mean...why would she randomly decide `those crackers must go back`
why did the store then put them back on the shelf?

Although why you would return crackers, I dont know. Maybe she WAS crackers...

it is not your place to judge someone on thier generosity..personally ..yea most people would give a reward, but there is no law stating you have to give one, so the old lady is perfectly in bounds
