I agree... silly religion states the world is 4000 years old... this fossil is 37,000 years old.

How exciting. :)

Aside from the fact that the mammoth would squash the scientists and not eat it...definrtly don`t want a real live Jurrasic Park

"Very soon my friend. But you gotta pay attention!! Because the first words from this baby will be, "there is no God" and then the world will cease to exist. Keep your eye`s peeled."

The world won`t cease to exist without God, it seems to exist without it pretty well.

"amaqdrinker that was a quick swerve from the whole we lost the creationalism evolution debate by scientist finding yet another fossil thousands of years older than the story of the bible! onto dna!"

i didn`t lose anything, i`m not a creationist or an evolutionist(?). i don`t know how the earth began and either way it doesn`t disprove the existence of God. and yes daruiz, that would be full of win.

They`re already working on cloning mammoths. They found an adult and they`re planning on fusing ot with todays elephants, then somehow over generations of breeding them, we`ll have a whole new race of mammoths.

Hey habbazoot, they can change the gender of the animal by changing the genes. The cloning must be done \o.o/

alright the whole creationism evolution debate is stupid because it doesn`t prove or disprove God, period. but the whole cloning thing...have you seen jurassic park? i personally don`t want any woolly mammoths devouring scientists on some tropical island.

Hmmm...I haven`t really thought about the relation of this and god, but now I realise that it`s impossible to both have a 37000 year old fossil and a god who created earth only 4000 years ago.
Also: AWESOME! I read in some newspaper that they`ll be cloning them by 2020. It`s probaply bogus, but still awesome =]

This *is* the nearly perfectly preserved one that was found a while ago - did you see the date on this? April 2008 - and they wouldn`t be wheeling it out for display like that until quite a while after it was discovered.

"WeeToddDid-I don`t think it is photoshopped, though. If I remember what my fiance`s dad said, they found another baby mammoth preserved well, too, quite a while ago. So it`s very possibly real."

You`re almost right, they found a full grown mammoth a few years back.

Wait a second... I am not sure why the title of this is the way it is. Shouldn`t the title be something like... I don`t know, maybe, "FURTHER UNDENIABLE PROOF THERE IS NO GOD!"

Oh snap!! flame on...

Same here Teph.

About 5-6 years back I watched a discovery channel episode that mapped how scientists are actually working towards re-establishing the species. They are already breeding elephants and implanting mammoth DNA.
