I get how to make it look like it going down, but going `up`, wouldn`t the light have to be going pretty damn quick?

Well it`s similar to stop motion. It`s the concept that the little frames you see are put together in the brain`s eye to form a continuous flowing image. The times when the strobe light is off, between flashes, acts like the space between the slits in a zoetrope and provides our vision with only certain images.

I would imagine that this is a much better effect on camera than in real life, especially if it`s synched up with the fps of the camera.

the strobe lighting is so fast our eyes see it as one continuous beam of light

opie...it`s not stop motion...tell me how it could be, please, and i will happily withdraw my denial :)

Strobe lights are perhaps the single greatest thing ever created. Seriously, with a single strobe light and a portable generator, the fun never stops.

Whoa, this is a freaking awesome application for stop motion technology.

fuzzy, i believe the reason you dont really SEE the strobes is because of the way the frame limit of the video clashes with the flashes of the strobe to show solid light instead of flashes. i may be wrong tho, thats just a guess

i want a ton of those in my living room.

@yofuzzy:
that concept is older than you are my friend. it`s called stop-motion, and that`s exactly how you do it. however, if it was stop motion, the guy`s moving hand would be almost impossible to do so smoothly. it`s pretty sweet what you can do with strobe lights: play jesus and make water fly...do "the matrix" like a badass...have an epileptic seizure...I want one.

great concept. crappy video. i didnt see any strobe lights flashing but this also could have been done with the camera. the video is really just a bunch of pictures strung togeather and played fast enough to appear to be moving. so if every time a picture is taken a water drop is slightly above the position of the one before it in the next frame. it will appear the origional drop moved upward

Um

Bannable?

i saw something like this a long time ago, only on a much smaller scale, it was cool. could be made rather easy though the strobe lights have to be timed right, interesting stuff.
