Completely dirty. What a douchebag. The whistle blew while that linebacker was still at the line, so it`s not like he could claim he didn`t have enough time to stop.

Half the QBs fault, he never stopped motioning like the play was dead, so the guy kept playing too. Granted the whistle blew, and he was the only player besides his other DE still moving. Bad luck and I don`t think the guy meant any harm.

sorry for the triple post but the announcer is like
"Kemp stopped what a cheap hit!"

It looked like to me the quarterback pumped the football, and its so loud in there i doubt they heard the whistle in time bullpoo protect the quarterback

but i do feel bad for him

I say that the LB shouldn`t play until the QB can play. Which means both of their careers are over.

"Half the QBs fault, he never stopped motioning like the play was dead, so the guy kept playing too. Granted the whistle blew, and he was the only player besides his other DE still moving. Bad luck and I don`t think the guy meant any harm."

No excuse. He had to have noticed that no one tried to block him. Or that the other DE was slowing down. And even if he didn`t notice that or the whistle, you wrap up the QB and place him down. He`s played for a while now. He should know that no QB will ever be that easy of a target

That`s exactly what happened. WOW and he celebrates at the end. I hope that douchebag sits on the bench for the rest of the year like that QB now has to. Sorry, this kinda poo makes me mad.

See I was ready to maybe give him the benefit of the doubt until I seen he was celebrating well after the play, and AFTER the guy`s teammate came up and gave him a shove. He absolutely HAD to know at that point what he`d done

and he doesnt celebrate peloos he puts his arms up like " i didnt do anything wrong! i didnt mean to do that" i dont think he was celebrating and if he was celebrating then he certainly didn`t know it was a late hit because getting a 15 penalty is one of the worst things ever and coaches do not appreciate it

Isobar, It`s not "half the QB`s fault" He`s free to do anything (but hit someone) after the whistle blows. Playing by the rules is part of the game.

Well problem is, if you watch Michigan football, i`ve seen them run a play where if there is an offsides and they notice it before the ball is snapped, the offensive line won`t move but the receivers go down field.... this should be illegal because of things like this that happen.

Agreed. The hitter either had a serious brainfart or it was intentional. Either way, I just hate to see someone get hurt without the benefit. Like if he got hurt on a fair play and everything was legit well, those are the risks you take. But this... this will just eat at him for the rest of his life. All the work he did and his possible future shot down by something that simply did not need to happen at all.

It`s like living through countless battles in war only to come home and die falling down some stairs...

Now THAT was a hit! If you can`t take it don`t put on the pads pussies!

But really it was a cheap shot and I agree that he shouldn`t be allowed to play until the QB can. There is NO excuse for that. You can list all of the BS excuses you want, they`re garbage. He shouldn`t have hit the QB like that even if he didn`t know the play was over. He was going for an extreme hit and he should get an extreme punishment.

All I know is there`s 3 types of football players.

-People who play football to win

-People who play football for the spotlight

-and crazy Kevin Greene type motherdraters who only play football because they`re allowed to hit people and will smash somebody anytime they get the chance.

I just got the feeling that guy falls into the last category.

im actually a linebacker for my highschools football team. trust me, when ppl r shouting like that and the adrenalines pumping, you hardly notice the whistle. at our homecoming game, the other players couldnt hear the front i was calling and i was tops 3 feet away from them. trust me, it gets damn loud. that combined with adrenaline and a quarterback looking like hes still getting set for a pass, ur gonna hit that guy even if the play was dead

guys i dont know if you follow football but even if that wasnt late it would have been a personal foul, you cant lead with your helmet like that. Plus the field is designed so you can hear the whistle. when your playing its the crowd thats barely audible. but either way that hit was dirty

whether he heard the whistle or not, when youve played football your whole life you know when your lined up against a lineman, and he just stands up and doesn`t even attempt to block you, you know there is most likely a false start

I don`t see how everyone else stopped moving. The receivers were 10 yards down field before they even slowed down, the entire offensive line started backing up to pass block, and the QB was holding the ball up like he was going to throw until a moment before he was hit.

Watch it again. Watch the two offensive tackles, the ones responsible for blocking those edge rushers. The left tackle was busy blocking someone else, and the right tackle tried to block for more than long enough to give the rusher the impression the play was still moving.

This is an extremely unfortunate play, but the defensive players aren`t particularly at fault here. Now that is not to say that the QB IS at fault, it`s just an unfortunate situation.

at 33 sec you can clearly see all the players began pulling up, the right tackle doesn`t make a move at all on the blitzing linebacker who he was moving to block. the whistles were blowing the entire time from right before the ball is snapped.

also if u watch the first part, with the on field camera u can see everyone in frame stand up for 2 seconds before the qb is hit.

One last thought, If his reaction time is good enough to get off the line on a blitz right when the ball is snapped, it should be good enough to know not to hit the qb with 2.5 sec of continuous whistling from 10 yards away

Well as a Wide Receiver... the guy on the bottom was wide open... yes I`ve cried wide open on run plays...

And the whole... couldn`t hear it thing doesnt make sense if the other DE was slowing down. The QB had the ball really low, when they are about to get hit they put it tight to the chest. And the LB was going for the kill.

If you don`t hear the whistle, then you`re trained to make a play.

NOT a cheap shot, but an unfortunate accident.

As IF they heard the whistle, but secretly planned to clobber the QB.

"If you don`t hear the whistle, then you`re trained to make a play."

youre also trained to be aware of whats going on around you, you see everyone pull up like the guy next to you, then you stop

Now if hes blind and deaf then he has an excuse.

Deaf because of the crowd, and it`s not everyone`s job to sack the QB, so those linemen that stood up were in a completely different mindset.

When I`m focused on a task (like "GET QB!!!") I don`t give a sh*t what everyone else on the field is doing. Until I hear that whistle...it`s GO TIME!

I`m still having trouble understanding how he didnt here the whistle when everyone else around him did.

Also no linebacker at the D1=A college level is told get the QB only, you have to be aware of what else is going on on the field, what if the running back ran a check down then the linebacker would of had to change his "task". Linebackers are have to know multiple things on a given play, they dont have one mindset or task.

there are no excuses, im not saying its on purpose, its more of a HUGE mistake then an accident.

QB should learn to get hit yeah, but not blindsided AFTER the whistle is blown. So he wasn`t completely blindsided, but he definitely was not looking for someone trying to hit him. `iambluebeard` you would be down just like him, probably longer. I don`t see how this is the least bit funny.

I`ve gotta ask, does American Football have anything like the red card in...rest of the world football? :P Or is there even some sort of penalty box?
