Wait, what? He actually flew for quite some time without realizing his aircraft plane was missing a wing? Now THAT is being hardcore. Also, the fact that that plane`s engineering was genius helped. Certainly something I would want to be flying on the battlefield. Lose a wing? No biggie! I still have the other one.

Oh my god. This guy should be one of the most skilled - or lucky - pilots in the world. Already, when you lose one wing of an aircraft, I`d probably say that you`re f*cking screwed. But even worse, he STABILIZED IT THEN LANDED IT?! This guy is Fox McCloud, bitches.

I`m gonna have to weigh in here before my fellow non-American IABers lay down the inevitable and predictable "yeah, America builds good war machines, well done! That`s all you know how to do! Blahblahf*ckingblah" and say:

Come on, you have to respect the technical ingenuity in pure aeronautical engineering design here, not to mention the resolve and skill of the Israeli pilot. I`m personally dishing out kudos to all involved.

    Indeed, that is surprising.

UNTIL you learn that it`s an Israeli pilot. poo like this is NOTHING to those guys.

If air forces were people, the Israeli Air Force would be Chuck Norris. They`re that good.

    HELL YEAH WE DO!

Too bad the F-15 is decommissioned.

Amazing aircraft, and an amazing American trained pilot!

darn,i never knew an F-15 could fly with one wing.maybe thats why none were lost in combat.but what happend to the the other eagle?did it brake into peices?i hope the other pilots survived.im sure i would transfer from the F-16 if i saw the F-15 fly with one wing.the F-15 has another trait the F-16 doesnt:two engines.with two engines,if one fails, you can get back two base.but with one engine,if you lose it,theres not a high chance of gliding back to base.actualy, its a very little chance.fighters arent made to glide.

why are we wasting so much money on the F-22?they could take the F-15,make it stealthed, make it a little faster, and update its weapons, instead of wasting PILES of money?

We need to make a nobel prize for being a badass. We could give it to people like this guy, Audie Murphy, and that one pilot in WW2 that shot down a german airplane with a handgun while he was parachuting down from his plane.

It would take even larger piles of money to make an F-15 competitive with the fifth gen aircraft on the horizon on the level that the F-22 is. There`s only so much you can do with a 4th generation airframe, and we don`t accept "good enough".

they took the F22 out to alaska and ran simulated dog fights against a group of five F16s. The results were 163-0, in favor of the F22. Not once was it "shot down". The F15, while admittedly being a beast, is no 5th generation.

And to those that cry "fake"... Do your research before you start whining. This one is quite real, I`m afraid. Go check out other sources before screaming. Then come back with the predictable "oh, that`s not that impressive. I could`ve done better"... Yes, the reenactment was fake. Shocking. The incident happened.

Legion5: Your a freaking moron! I used to live in St.Louis (Where these are built), My dad took me through a short tour of the McDonnell Douglas F-15 factory hangar in the 1980s. These planes are still awesome, and only the F-22 can claim it`s better. The engineers that designed it were wicked smart and using (then) state of the art cad/cam tools. It was impressive and got me motivated to learn computer programming.

LoofahBoy: No, They can`t. The F-15 is made of sheet metal and wasn`t designed for thrust vectoring, etc. Stealth requires newer materials, A different shape, and internal weapons pods.

its 100% real, the F-15(as said in the video) is wide enough to produce enough lift for it to keep it up if going fast enough, add to that a pilot who listened to his gut(If you didn`t notice, he said he did the opposite of what he was trained to do in that situation) and a good "fly by wire" system that could keep the plane stable.

"why are we wasting so much money on the F-22?they could take the F-15,make it stealthed, make it a little faster, and update its weapons, instead of wasting PILES of money?"

Because it would most likely cost more because you would need to update everything from the frame to the software so your adding the cost of stripping the old plane down + having a team of engineers re-design it

"pilot who listened to his gut(If you didn`t notice, he said he did the opposite of what he was trained to do in that situation)"

I think it was the opposite. He says that opening the afterburner (makes you go faster obviously) is the oppostite to your gut reaction when you`re spinning towards the ground, it brought him out of the spin so he could level out. That sounds like something you could only learning in training.

danthew, what training teaches you is that in a spin, you cut power(thrust aggrevates your spin, normally). but that`s with both wings. I would guess that with one wing, it wasn`t a true spin. I highly doubt there`s any training to be taught for an aircraft with half of its lift gone, control surfaces missing, and being 10 miles away from nearest airport. that`s why military uses ejection seats :)

    O RLY? :-D

But yeah, you`re right. But still, it might be viable for a lesser upgrade across the board to complement the Raptors. They`re only getting 126 of them. :(

crakr jack,no plane of these G`s(gravity force)can be made with sheet metal.the plane would break up when it brakes the sound barrier.also,it would be torn to shreds if it whent through a high G turn.at least i think.
