Animecha your right. Its not a hologram, thats just CNN`s "name". But the technology is pretty impressive, transfering from a real 3-dimentional environment to another. And actually the blue screens are green, and she is in a tent. The blue "hologram effect" that sorrounds her and the low rendering is intentional, becouse CNN didn`t want it looking too realistic.

The technology is developed by a Norwegian company, Vizrt.

For those who are curious... Its not a hologram! Its sensationalist bull! They are in front of a blue screen and the person cant really see them! As if having camera`s synced constitutes a hologram.

I saw this last night, didn`t believe it was actually a hologram. Pretty cool, but I guess it`s ineffecient if they need 35 cameras surrounding her for it to work.

My 8th grade teacher actually tested a hologram... Im a junior now...
He gets called in to do varios consumer tests, he actually said he didnt like it...
He raited it low... Expecially the hologram keyboards and screen that were like on air and you could "touch" and type and stuff like that...
I remember he said it was "Too complicated"

Even with all the camera`s, you`d need a lot more and more defined technology to make a true hologram. As simply as she put it, didn`t seem to explain how an image can be projected yet magically stop in mid-air to form a shape.

JimboH: "What do they think we are, friggin` kittens that can be distracted for hours on end by a "hologram?" Is this what they have to turn to to "report" the news?"

I also loved how each news station had a touchy-feely television screen thing that they just couldn`t keep their drating hands off of. More gimmicky bull$#!t.

That hardly qualifies as a hologram.

I actually watched that live. They placed a bunch of cameras around her and taped her from many different views, then they used some software to piece it all together. He could not see her at all, and they mentioned that fact when it was live. As she put it, her cameras were "speaking" with their cameras. There was no actual hologram. However, everything needs to start somewhere,.

It would be cooler if we knew anything about how it actually worked. She mentioned how she is being filmed, but not how it is displayed. It looked to me as if they put the image directly to the film, and not a real hologram. That is why he had to stand 20 feet away.

sooooo, is the image only seen on t.v. or does the real anchor actually see the hologram in the studio?
if it`s only on the t.v., then he`s talking to basically nothing.
