@ McDuff
i agree 100%
if your not qualified at all to handle such the stress that a disabled child may bring some days, then why the hell are you driving a god damn mentally handicapped bus?!??!
people these days!
and whats worse is i have a mentally handicapped cousin!
what a disgrace that lady is!

she should not be working with children and should be prosecuted for assaulting him, hes a child with a disability and you dont discipline anyone by banging their head against a window and anyone that thinks she was right or defends her is quite sad!

theres no need to be yelling at him like that, he doesnt know better. And whoever was supposed to be with him SHOULD OF BEEN THERE.. i personally would of shot her in the knee for overreacting in such a immature way towards a child who needs help

I agree with BigWaFuu. I have a pretty good level of patience, but just listening to that kid lose his sh*t was highly annoying. And he needs discipline, no matter what he has.

I am torn between both sides. YES children NEED discipline but KNOWING that the child has a history of problems and also PROOF just from the video the even BEFORE the bus driver took off the child was already acting up. How in the world was she supposed to control an out of control child while driving? They should have kept someone on the bus besides the driver and maybe this wouldn`t have happened. I do agree that there is a breaking point for everybody too. :-/

I woulda choked the little drater too. I dont care wtf he has. What gives him the right to act like that and throw poo at the driver? Its ok if she gets hurt and wrecks the bus and dies. But oh no, dont you dare think about disciplining the retard.

She didnt really choke him either. She just pinned him against the wall. It doesnt matter how much "training" you go through, everyone is still human and has a limited amount of patience.

A glass partition would solve the issue. The drivers job is to transport the children safely, nothing more.

"I don`t recall hearing about attention deficit/hyper activity disorder back when corporal punishment was allowed in school, coincidence? I think not. Pain is a Good Teacher."

Right, back when mental illness was classified as demon possession, you didn`t hear a lot about therapy, either.

Pain is a terrible teacher. Study after study shows that kids who are hit are worse off than kids who aren`t.

Silverthread, go screw yourself. This isn`t normal, you should train bus drivers to actually be able to handle abnormal children. Don`t hire busdrivers that will kill your passengers.

Psh. My busdriver hit a girl and ran over animals. And in my defense, I was not there the day he hit the girl, (I knew her, she`s a bitch) as he was fired when I got back.

Sorry for sounding quite evil, but her punishment seemed to have worked. I`d bet that if that video was longer it would show the kid doing nothing but behaving.

I don`t think he`s being choked, the woman`s most likely just pushing him against the seat.

I`d be pissed off if I was the driver too, and that telling off probably prevented an accident.

But honestly I would go with the driver. You should not be unacompanied if you`re Bipolar, that`s a really serious mental disease.

She had all the right to do what she did, she could have prevented a potential accident.

I`m going to say I`ll side with the driver.

No `mentally challenged` person should be unaccompanied by a qualified supervisor.
The driver should have a separate cab, but that would mean the district would have to hire a supervisor on the bus; and we all know they don`t have money for that.

If someone fires her or she gets sued for this I would countersue the City or whatever claiming that there needs to be an enclosure for the driver. A retard who thinks its ok to throw things at a driver is a retard who may think its cool to get up and start choking a driver too.

I say this driver was rather well restrained and by taking care of the issue right away, she may have saved a pedestrians life she would have hit otherwise if she let this retarded individual continue with his behavior.

effing right on, it doesn`t matter WHAT the kids are doing NO BUD DRIVER has the right to CHOKE a CHILD, that`s what diciplinary systems are put in place for.

"Its not ok to choke any kid for any reason."

IronDozer, you`re either not a parent or a pooty parent. If you can raise a kid to adulthood to be decent and respectful without choking them then good for you, but to say that ANYTHING is out of the question when it comes to dealing with children is pure poo.

You do ANYTHING necessary to raise a decent, respectful child.

There are 2 things that can help stop this sort of thing.

1. I think the biggest problem is the bus drivers are not trained on how to deal with children who act up on a bus. They need to be trained on how to deal with these situations.

2. I think school buses should be redesigned to be similar to airplanes, in that the driver is in a cab completely separated from the kids. So that a driver can not be hit with an object or be harrassed by the students. A majority of accidents on school buses occur because the driver is destracted by the students.

there`s no context to what is really going on with this kid, bipolar and mentally challenged is really a pretty vague description.

The bipolar diagnosis is really difficult and takes years, and they are especially careful when it comes to kids. I guess this kid is mentally handicapped as well, which just makes it worse.

How old do you have to be to be diagnosed as bi-polar these days? It`s a bad question for a bad system that doesn`t really know what it`s doing. Just curious. That Xavier kid looked teenagish, but who knows. Or cares. I don`t believe any of the medicine does anything to cure the underlying condition or reeducate kids. It seems that the medicine only controls the moods and the behavior. Or, in this case, not. I could see how that kid would not understand or be able to respect the bus-driver`s (of course, real) authority. What worries me is the bus-driver`s not being trained to understand the misunderstanding. What a world.

i had that much force used on me by my father as a child and i think that it is completely fine. she didn`t hurt the kid at all, she just sort of scared him a bit. kids need to respect a figure of authority in a simple situation like this.

I would`ve just taken away anything that he could throw and that`s it. You can`t choke a mentally challenged kid fer faks sake, I don`t care how annoying he is. But I agree that she isn`t qualified to deal with him and shouldn`t have to, without his caretaker.

It`s amazing just how many of these `mental illnesses` disappear in these kids the moment discipline is used against them.

*shurg* seems to have had a bit of an effect. Not like she hurt him or anything. Any good parent will probably side with her.

Weather or not doing something like that could have a positive effect on the kid really just depends on how messed up is brain is, but like I said, it`s not like she hurt him.
