Why ask an electrical engineer, when you could ask Björk?

I`d probably understand her better if she just spoke Icelandic... And my Icelandic really isn`t good ^^

Btw @LazyMe484: Björk is a normal Icelandic name, which doens`t make it better, but at least her friends arn`t to blame, just her parents *g*

This innocence of hers, whether faked or not, is kind of endearing.

so the moral of the story is, you shouldn`t let poets lie to you?

Brilliant!

It`s not the quality of the information that makes it great, it`s the chosen expression of it.

You can tell she has no idea what she`s talking about. She seems to act SO curious and in awe of it..."it`slike a little city in there, with streets and there`s an elevator running up to there"....LMAO!!! I was hoping she was going to open that thing and get the shock of her life...but then i saw her hair: maybe it already happened before!!!
It almost seems like she`s high or something too...???
Question: why does anyone think shes attractive? she really doeslook funny with those small eyes, big hair and HUGE eyebrows!!!!...holy cow, call Jesus, tell him to get his lawnmower and cut those things!!!!

"It goes without saying she`s wrong, but if you want to really know... in a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) style TV like this, the big copper-wire round thing at the back of the picture tube is a super duper electromagnet. There is ONE beam of light, which is bent by this to hit the upper left spot on the screen, then the next spot, and so on... it works its way across the screen, then to the next line where it does it all again, and so on till it reaches bottom right. It does this for all 3 colours. The "little screens" are thousands of phosphor dots coloured red, green and blue in a triangle arrangement. When the single beam of light hits a phosphorus dot, it does what phosphor does best, it glows briefly in that colour. This all happens 60* times a second to produce a picture."

... Orly?

The only thing I learnt from that `educational video` was that you shouldnt trust icelandic poets...

No offense Lionhart, but I still prefer Bjork`s explanation.

Yep... I fix these at work from time to time... been shocked (non lethally of course) a few times when I forget to wear gloves.

I`ll keep my fingers crossed for Bjorks next foray into technology.. Maybe she`ll crack open a high voltage neon transformer and tell us a story :)

Yes, pull off that plastic thing attached to the back of the tube (above the copper-wire thing, looks like a sort of futuristic round-based army tank) and you are likely to get a LETHAL zap even weeks after the thing has been unplugged. Stay out of the backs of CRT`s people.

Icelandic Poets... Bad news guys:

"I am the Bjork you all am love to pork,
But I have de bad news, is not you I choose.
Let I just say, when I am telling what I like,
My dam burst not for you but well-built dike."

Nah, just kidding.

Classic Bjork hilarity.

Best thing is that those tubes can carry a charge even when they`re turned off. When she started poking her hands into the chasis and neck board I was actually hoping that the monitor discharged..

That would have been video of the year.

*(depending on the scanrate of the screen - 60 Hz means it does the whole screen 60 times a second)

I love taking things apart. To quote the Flobots, "I can take apart the remote control, and I can almost put it back together."

Also, why exactly was this filmed?

It`s a bad idea to open a TV. Even if the TV is unplugged. There can be high voltages stored in capacitors and coils..
