Hey, habbazoot,

Don`t forget that the original constitution also supported slavery.

Man oh man, I can`t stand these right-wing constitution harpers.

People like Dakkar can`t think for themselves so they need magical ancient documents like the constitution and the bible to govern their lives for them.

The constitution was written by rich white men a long time ago in a world that was very, very different than ours is today.

They may have known what was best for the country at the time of its inception; except for the little thing about black people only being good for doing chores, but they had no drating idea what was going to be best in 200+ years.

parties are stuoid because the candidate addresses the issues to make the party happy or to follow the party instead of actually doing what is best

Wow, you`ve got to be pretty damned stupid to support either of the two major political parties. Pretty damned stupid.

True Opie, but I still cling to the hope that someday the partisan party politics will crumble. I think that`s where the College is most effective and I guess that`s the main reason I don`t want to do away with it.

My hopes are likely feeble, but I can dream!

"Way to go, because you know..all republicans are the same and if one or two of them are stupid or radical they all are, same with democrats. Quit saying all or every unless you`re sure that you`ve checked out every single person."
lol, i didn`t say all or every anywhere in that sentence. and i know that was a generalization, but you have to be pretty damn stupid to support mccain/palin. i`m sure that you`re a republican and you`re just SO wonderful and have the bestest views ever so i apologize.

Dak, I don`t think the electoral college is applicable to modern society anymore. The reasons it was created no longer apply. It`s outdated, it causes much more complication than is necessary, and sometimes through unintended loopholes one person in office who might not have been the most voted for.

Not saying we are a true democratic, we aren`t. I`m just saying that it is more hindersome than helpful.

"I`ve gotten every presidential election right since Clintons second term"

Wow. So you predicted Clinton, the most popular president since World War II, would get re-elected for a second term. Not that hard to see that one coming.

And then you love G.W. Bush. Grats on that.

Ugh... I was right at 1000 characters but it still cut me off. Sorry for the double...

My last sentence was, The Electoral College is definitely necessary for the 2008 election, one way or the other.

Sharpest, what a lot of people mistake is that America is not a true democracy and has never claimed to be.

I support the Electoral College because its what the Founding Fathers wanted. They drafted a Constitution that has been "mostly" unchanged for over two hundred years, something very uncommon in our world. They knew what was best for this country. The easiest way to explain why the system was set up is that the Founding Fathers did not believe the average American voter was smart enough. And especially in this day and age, I tend to agree.

People are voting depending on which candidate furthers himself Bush, relying on the tried and true "CHANGE" slogans. It worked to get Democrat control of Congress, so both parties are trying it now. And its wrong, because people stop listening to the ideas each candidate has and all they want to hear is how much "CHANGE" a candidate is "promising".

The Electoral College is definitely necessary for

Ironic that it`s ACORN that is being investigated for voter fraud in at least 13 states. Isn`t that the organization for which Obama was a COMMUNIST AGITATOR -- oops, I mean community activist?

of course that`s true, patticakes...but the Simpsons are easier to follow than actually reading a newspaper

I never got the electoral system in USA... Doesn`t every vote supossed to be of the same worth? But, accordignly to your state, your vote may not be worth sh*t. Democracy should be where the government is that that the majority of the people agree upon, not the majority of states. But again, who am I to judge that? My country`s electoral system is supossedly "ideal", and we ended up with a jack*ss running this country for about 10 years now.

I`m assuming from your other posts you`re a McCain guy, Prime.

If you wanna continue your streak McCain better get to work. It`s starting to look like Obama might end up running away with this.

And if you don`t think a single measly vote doesn`t matter, Prime`s the perfect example. He lives in Florida. Florida`s a key state with a lot of electoral votes, and it`s neck and neck down there right now. Swinging the votes a couple percent to McCain`s favor would be huge for him. Now states like Pennsylvania, where I`m from. It`s looking like Obama`s gonna take it in a landslide, so yeah, my vote kinda doesn`t matter.

I forget how many votes Kerry lost by in the 2004 election but it averaged out to NINE votes per voting district. NINE.

alright I`m finally done lol </rant>

Continuing on that, I`m sure a lot of people would have rather had Al Gore won that election in 2000. Screw what the 10% or so of people out there think of Bush, I`m sure you think he sucks. Yes there was some controversy but if Al Gore would have absolutely ran away with the thing there wouldn`t have been a chance for any. Vote!

But TKD master, hypothetically speaking, let`s say Canidate A wins the election. 2 years in, you realize you really don`t like him but a lot of your friends do. Wouldn`t you rather of had a say in it and upped Canidate B`s chance? Just because people don`t agree with each other doesn`t necessarily make them wrong. It`s all about you.

im never ever ever voting. ever. its pointless, no matter who gets elected, they are going to do a good job according to some people, and a bad job according to some people. if the president saved a baby that fell out of a tree (dont ask why its in a tree, bare with me.) some people would go `wtf why isnt he busy running america!??` and others would go `ooh what a hero!`
To this end, i will never, ever vote.

That actually happened to my mom in a local election. Although it went from R to D.

(for those wondering, no I do not get my political ideals from my parents. They actually get it for me. I`ve gotten every presidential election right since Clintons second term)

It`s a good thing I can`t vote, eh?
And, plus. I couldn`t care less about voting and polotics and everything else? Why [And befoe all the `wiser` people on iab start throwing reasons to care about polotics] Because I`m young. Maybe I`ll get into polotics when I`m older. And don`t have the attention span of an A.D.H.D dog. Polotics bore me.

Should have blurbed the names lol. Ah well! We shall see!
