Is virtual murder even a crime? Anyone who has spent anytime playing Second Life and the like will appreciate this one.

first off, dumbass for sharing his info with anyone, Even his wife. We all know the people we love most can`t be trusted with any sort of personal information! I once told my father my ebay Login, and he used that information to viciously rape me!

Secondly, FIVE YEARS! Holy Turtle Humping Ghandi! If anything, her character should be punished. The woman should be forced to give all her money and items to the husband once he creates a new avatar. As for the lost experience? Who cares! Stop playing so many dang computer games and learn yourself a hobby. I hear yodelers get all the chicks.

"This is why no-one else in my family knows my RuneScape details."

I recall something about a Runescape dude suicided in rl because his runescape account got hacked

I also remember a Wow character in rl died, and his cousin on the forums was posting about his death, n some 8 yr old asked "did he drop good loot"

"Virtual games are popular in Japan, and "Second Life" has drawn a fair number of Japanese participants. They rank third by nationality among users, after Americans and Brazilians."

If people were arrested for killing people in video games, I think most of the people on this site would be screwed. Imagine the call to the police!

"Police! Help! My Maple Story character were just murdered!"

LOL you silly asian people... taking your MMO`s just that one step beyond the boundry the rest of us know not to cross. Silly silly asians.

But seriously... Really? I mean- Can`t he just resurrect his character? Is it really THAT big of a deal that his character was killed? That`s the thing about video games.. YOU COME BACK TO LIFE!

Man people are just so STUPID.

"She was charged with illegal access onto a computer and manipulating electronic data, police said. If convicted, she could face a prison term of up to five years or a fine up to $5,000."

5 YEARS! Thats a little extreme, I mean, it was maple story....

**AN honest question...

I thought she was mad because her virtual husband virtually divorced her without notice...meaning she had an account of her own...

You guys all need to learn how to read. She is going to jail for computer hacking and manipulation, not killing off his character. Last time I checked, hacking computers was a serious crime, especially in RL money is involved, which it was - (NX cash costs real money).

oh my! i dont know whats worse, the fact he whined about it or the fact the police got involved ???

not played maple sorty, not even heard of it. EQ2 is my game but i`m guessing it is sort of similar when you die you can revive, and if deleted you can get the character back. next time i die in a raid i am going to report the mob to the police!

Lol, get your facts straight gorgack2000. This is from MSNBC, not CNN.

And if killing virtual people is a crime, then there`s a whole lot of WoWers who are in deep deep doo doo.

how do you "die" in maplestory?
did she like.. cancel his account or something?
because if she killed him as in made him lose all his hp, he would just respawn and would lose some xp... i don`t think thats worth going to jail over... silly asians...

oh come on...i stole like 35 runescape accounts* and 25 diablo2 accounts* back in the day...so lets see, thats 60 counts of whatever they pulled out of their arse to charge her...which comes out to be 300 years in prison and 3 million in fines.

*rough estimate of actual accounts stolen.

she definately should NOT be charged for anything, if everything went down as said in the article.

hey cup i`m married in the game!!!!

But to my real life guy. I love watching the little 10 year olds have screaming fits when their online boyfriends talk to other girls. Or the guys who get so protective and angry when a guy so much as even says "ur hawt" to their wife who they porbably don`t even know in real life and live in Canada. People usually only get married for the APQ anyways.

lmao. I love my maple story :-( But I have been so busy in school I haven`t been on it in 3 days

I am a bit confused though did she kill his character or maple story? Cause you can`t kill other players on maple story so i`m assuming she just deleted it?
