Dear Diary,

I just learned in history class today that my name happens to be the same as the most destructive presidential ticket in history. I asked my Dad " Yo what up wit dat?" He then sat me down and told me that he decided to "take one for the cause" and give me what will now haunt me as the worst name ever. Also, I bought a gun today. I`m going to kill my dad. F#*k my life!

I have my sources, but I don`t have to give away years of thought to save your dignity. Just so that you can pick apart what I think. Instead, I ask you for your thoughts, and it seems you don`t have any.

starrstreet, problem in your scenario.

Marketing the new amount of items I have. Waiting for the delivery, and inevitable storage of a surplus. Two possibilities:
1. More of the same item makes the price go down (supply +demand)
2. The more items on the market don`t sell quite as fast, and this hurts the over all economy because I slowed my own business by flooding the market.

Add in another 4 years to recover from a drastic move.

Ok, without looking up anything, lets run through a scenario. If I was a large business man, who just got 1.5 million is a tax break, and I decide,"hey, I`d like to invest this, and make even more money, because I am rich and greedy." I start increasing my production by giving my employees overtime, hiring new ones and buying more raw materials. Should only take a couple of months to get into my full capacity of production. Oh, I forgot, I am a rich greedy twat. I also wait another couple of months before spending it.. because if I wait until Jan. to spend it, I don`t get taxed on my equity, or property tax. Which saves me quite a bit. so that is anywhere from 8 months to 1.5 years. Also, tax plans don`t take effect for about 1 year.. that makes it around 1.6-2.5 years.

When Bush 41 raised taxes the economy started going up at the end of his term and then Clinton continued it. Bush 41 did the responsible thing even though his famous line was, "Read my lips, no new taxes"

Clinton then cut walfare and other government spending which is yes, more unusual for a democrat, right? Well he worked with republicans. So yes, cutting spending is important but then reallocating that spending elsewhere. With higher taxes that are fair and less irresponsible spending we have good economic times.

If I was a large business man, who just got 1.5 million is a tax break, and I decide,"hey, I`d like to invest this, and make even more money, because I am rich and greedy." I build a factory/officebuilding/whatever. Construction on it takes around 2-3 years, and an extra .5 to 1 year to hire employees. Oh, I forgot, I am a rich greedy twat. No.. look on the graph. Reagan economics take place from 1990, to 1998. War in Iraq, fall in deficit. Huge gains from 1993 to 2001. 1999 through 2000 Bush Sr`s plan. (remember less dramatic for a 4 year president) Then from 2001 to 2007 Clinton economics.. 2008 Major world economic crisis.. I mean you can actually follow that on Orion`s graph.

Since Reagen got into office it took 12ish years to start seeing the effects of his policy? Didn`t congress which was controlled by democrats at the time try to pass tax policies which Bush Sr. signed which attributed to growth? Also, Bill Clinton did a lot to cut funding welfare which I think we saw the effects of in his years.

If I have offended you I am sorry, but if you don`t understand that it takes years for economics to come into play, I don`t want to talk about it with you. I don`t want to prove that a tax break in 07 doesn`t really effect 08. The overall economic plan of any president taking place in his first term? I mean c`mon its not feasible. Maybe in his last 2 years if he serves an 8 year term, and you have to also factor in global events, like the "global econmic crisis of 08" the oil crisis in the 70`s and 80`s.. along with things like 9-11 were our economy was gone. I don`t mean to offend, but that comment about me proving these concepts is uninformed to say the least.

U.S. economics take time to come into effect. its not like a tax break or increase is going to make a change that year. It takes years of planning for these plans to do anything.

I live on Long Island, one of the places to live with the highest taxes but you guys wouldn`t believe the schools here! They`re incredible and I know because I haven`t always lived here. No need bob, because the fact is, that economics are delayed by about 7 years, and also under Bush we faced 9-11.. you know, where our economy was gone for about 6 months. Hey, you know we (US citizens) are living in Clinton-economics right now. From about 09 to 2016 we will be living in Bush-economics. Just keep that in mind. Clinton rode the coat-tail of Reagan, although he only got to see about 4 years of it.

To be Honest and fair
"Sarah McCain Palin" is actually a pretty good little name if ever I heard one. The syllables are right and they fit together. Unlike Kal-el Cage (Nicholas Cage`s Son) or Moxie CrimeFighter Jillette (Penn / Emily Jillette`s daughter)

As for political reasons.. I understand the Chinese are big on this... naming their children after famous events and people (if you dig you`ll find a report somewhere that shows the statistics of how many Chinese children were named "Beijing Olympics 2008" I kid you not..)
But here in the West? COME ON!
Be original. Just because you like John McCain and Sarah Palin now.. if they get into office and screw the country.. you`ll be sorry when you hate them.. and 20 years down the road... you will look back and think "wow.. what compelled me to name my child after famous politicians I liked at the time? Why would I burden them with my interests by naming them after them, so forever they will be haunted..

The same way you guys are saying that if you give tax breaks to wealthier people to create jobs couldn`t you with similar reasoning say that if you gave more tax breaks to middle class and lower income families that they will spend all the money in the market? Which can create more wealth for big companies also creating new jobs?

I mean if you give the tax breaks to the lower classes they have no where else to spend their extra money but things like relatively inexpensive luxury items.

They`re not buying mansions, tennis courts, jets, ect. but cars, travel, electronics and services which probably make up a bigger part of the economy.

Giving tax cuts to the wealthy doesn`t guarantee that they will be making new jobs because greed comes into play far more. I`m not saying every wealthy person is greedy, but maybe enough are to cause the economy to hurt.

It isn`t good having a business that many people do not want to buy your product because they don`t have that extra money, rig

And Clinton presided over the largest peace-time financial growth in American history, whereas Bush has presided over the greatest deficit in recent history which has precipitated the current global economic depression. I can cite sources if you want.

But, hey, in Bush`s reign that 35% has dropped 4.6%, also note, Clinton raised taxes on the rich 7.6% in his term. You guys who don`t know much about economics really need to think about how much money we are talking about here. Even if you are rich, that much of a hike, really isn`t fair. Imagine if YOUR taxes went up 7.6%

Also note, AahNold may be correct in saying he will pay more, and thus earn less take home if he gets a raise.. example: at 32,000 a year you get taxed 15%, at 33,000 a year you get taxed 25%... bull poo isn`t it?

oh, and someone said 200,000 to Bill Gates.. understand he pays 35% in taxes, which translates to quite a bit of money. 1% of that would be 3 dollars a secound.. roughly and depending on microsoft`s stocks, which is about 90,000,000 a year. So to say he wouldn`t do much with a tax break is silly.. (not sure how correct those numbers are, pulled them off the net, but they seem normal, considering his net worth is like 56 Billion.

AahNold, it isn`t about paying taxes, its about how the government collects them. I agree with you, you are just wording it wrong. Everyone in America knows that we have to pay tax, its that we disagree with who should pay what % of tax. I think the less we tax big earners, the more jobs they will create, Reaganeconomics at its core. Democrats, want to spend it for us, and decide who pays for it. Lately, it has been compared to socialism, which is the polite way of saying communism. (Something by the way we have laws against, and have fought against since the cold war.) Socialistic health care like Obama is wanting will hurt our economy, in my opinion.

Almightyboob1,

I don`t give a f*ck about european politics, I completely understand the need for taxes and don`t really disagree with them, its just how induviduals are taxed, for example if I got a raise that put me in the next tax bracket I would actually take home less than someone making less money than me. So why would I want to work harder to make less money?

Saying I`m KKK or NAZI implies that I am a racist, it has nothing to do with politics. Communism is a form of government that redistributes wealth. You can shine, polish and change the name of a piece of poop but in the end it is still a piece of poop. Just like the democratic party.

And by the way, there are more than 2 political parties in this country, we just make you think there are only 2 to make it easier for europeans to understand ;)

"I think it going a bit far calling me a nazi/fascist/KKK"

Exactly his point about your view that redistribution of wealth = communism. It`s a huge leap from one to the other. A government without taxes cannot function, wealth must always be redistributed.

"I would not expect someone from anywhere in Europe to be an expert on American politics so I will take everything you say with a grain of salt."

I suspect davymid knows a lot more about American politics than you do about European politics. It`s not exactly hard to grasp anyway, there`s only 2 parties to learn about. Simple, so that even most Americans can understand it ;)

Davymid,

I think it going a bit far calling me a nazi/fascist/KKK, just because I don`t want to spread my butt cheeks and let government steal from me.

If you watched the debates, Obama specifically talked about redistribution of wealth. (communism)

I would not expect someone from anywhere in Europe to be an expert on American politics so I will take everything you say with a grain of salt.

You know nothing of my patriotism, I served my country in the millitary when I was younger.

`he named his third child after John McCain and Sarah Palin to “to get the word out” about the campaign`

In case people haven`t heard about the election?
"Sarah McCain Palin? Who are they? What`s a President?"

What a moron.

And about the actual post, what a violation of trust! Aside from the fact that the name is ridiculous, the man changed the name without even consulting his wife and gave their marital trust a big "f*ck you".

I would be extremely hurt if I were his wife.

"Obamas obviously gonna win anyway (not my opinion, just following the polls), "

davymid, nothing`s certain. Lots of stuff can happen in three weeks.

And prime, it`s a nice ideology, but how often does that actually work? Those 5% can take a bigger chunk out of their paycheck for all I care.

Think of it this way. Bill Gates gives another $200,000 per year in taxes. Not Microsoft, just Bill Gates himself. Is he really going to be hurting that bad to cut jobs in Microsoft so that HIS paycheck will compensate for that $200,000? I don`t think so. Billy Boy probably won`t even notice the tax increase.

Regardless of political views, it is utterly tasteless to saddle a child with a name like that. To turn your child into a billboard is a dehumanizing thing. He could have named his dog Sarah McCain Palin, rather than treating his child like an object rather than a person. Is his child no more than yet another sign on his lawn?

I`m horrified to think of how that poor girl will be raised by a man who obviously is not concerned with how she will one day feel about this name.

Aahnold, you`re taking the (moderate left) ideology of the Democrats, Democracy, and pushing it out to the extreme left wing of communism. That`s utter lies and bollocks.

That`s no different from me taking your view (I presume) of moderate right-wing Republicanism and labelling you a ultra-right wing fascist/Nazi/KKK.

Stop with the mudslinging, and putting words in other people`s mouths. Obamas obviously gonna win anyway (not my opinion, just following the polls), so why keep bitching? Just get used to it, and stop calling your future administration a Communist State... It doesn`t become a patriotic American like yourself.

No, it is communism. I can appreciate certain taxes that fund schools and SS but there plenty of other taxes that are just BS. Key word MY CAKE, I don`t want to give a piece of it to people who have more children just to suck more money from our system or to people who are too lazy to go out and work for a living, but you can give them your money if you like.

"No. It`s called taxing the rich to fund essential government programs such as Social Security, and education."

Dont put essential alongside social security.

And when the top 5% control 80% of the job market.... I`d rather we give them the tax cuts and they can use it to expand their business... thus hire more people

Jesus, people complain about paying taxes, but when you see what good things come out of it, I can`t understand why you complain. Wanting to have your cake and eat it, too.

...And yes. I do pay taxes. A lot of them.

This only further confirms my belief that there should be some kind of basic test anyone should have to pass before they`re allowed to become a parent.

You know, get asked some basic questions, see how you respond. Failure would mean no are not qualified to raise other human beings. I see it going down something like this:

Interviewer: What would you name your child?
Potential Parent: Ummm..... I know! Sarah McCain Palin!
Interviewer: Sorry, your application has been rejected. NURSE! BRING THE WIRE CLIPPERS!

My wife works on with postpartum women and their babies. A lot of people choose some pretty bat-poo-crazy names. This is rather douchebaggey, but far from the worst name to bestow on an innocent child ("Phuc" perhaps?). At least the name will eventually become normalized.
