All religions are based in magic..prayer is sorcery. Using prayer to answer problems or to wish people better using an outside invisible force...is well... the definition of most magic.

Frogtango, yep, sacrificing a chicken isn`t needed. Besides, Satan would be above that, it`s God who wants the animals sacrifices(it`s in the bible).

the only difference(as far as I am concerned) between black and white magicians is the spiritual beliefs behind it. They can both do good and bad. Actually, I can picture a white magician f*cking poo up worse than a black one, lol.

and the 3 fold law doesn`t exist.

Apparently not, since the modern spread of stupidity and the spread of "witchcraft" seem so closely statistically linked. May a thousand ignorant, vomiting prairie dogs shred your astro-turf to cotton wool for daring to ask! :-)

SumireMoon: I`m sorry to hear that you were a victim of it, but if it helps I`ve heard of the rule of three. Where whatever you cast upon your target or targets, comes back three-fold.

So if it was bad for you, it was worse for them.

I can relate to this, in my culture(dominican), some people do witchcraft for good and evil. There was this one time where someone put witchcraft on my whole family because they were envious of us. It can be really harmful. :(

Psychosomatic responses sometimes work better than any scientific medicine.

Pooptart: The same kind who do horrific things in the names of their gods.

Herbal medicine I hear has some amazing results. For instance, a friend of my partner went and saw an Eastern medicine practitioner, was given a specific tea blend, had HORRIBLE nightmares that night, but woke up feeling like it was the best day in the history of the universe.

Be it spiritual, scientific, who cares, the fact is he FELT BETTER.

"WhenIsLunch: weird, i thought catholocism looked down on magic and all that crap"

In terms of Americans and Europeans, yes. When Catholicism spread to Mexico and South America, the two systems of belief blended more easily together.

Keep in mind that most, if not all, Christian holidays fall on days of old pagan festivals- primarily Celtic. They had to get people to buy it somehow. That`s also how Halloween in *some* cultures got a bad reputation.

Not so in Mexico.
