Manchester : Making the City Work Together

So it"s pretty obvious that the person who designed this poster wasn"t a genius. (See where the designer screwed up?)

Very Funny :-)
BTW I`ve visited Manchester/Lancashire and Cheshire on several occasions and had the BEST time. Mancunians don`t mind a laugh at they`re own expense.

Funny, but not new. It was reported in the Manchester Evening News back in February.

It`s wrong because if you turned the first gear, it would make the second and third gear move in opposite directions so it wouldn`t move at all. :P

Maybe a sly joke by the designer? I`m convinced whoever came up with the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Mascot had a similar laugh.

viewing this as a graphic designer this is a larf!

"work together" are the words . ..the thing is a shuttle and the gears imply gridlock and the inability to work together. . .yeah a basic fail.

I love the IAB substitution for f***ked with the word @[email protected] So very English! I`m going to substitute this next time when using the naughty word elsewhere on other websites.
Kudos to the guy who sets the IAB editorial screening settings.

I can tell this is in the bus stop outside Manchester Piccadilly Station, mad eh? The cogs won`t turn, no, and my bf works for GMPTE too! I sent him this picture a few months ago and he showed people there, hehe

Manchester, Lancashire, England?
If so then they can make the cogs go the way they need them too. Manchester, New Hampshire, USA then the cogs would strip and they`d all be drated.

TheSharpest, are you sure it`s not past your bedtime? You`re awfully cranky about nothing.

Well I can`t explain the joke until I know which part of Britain you`re from, so I know how many syllables and "oooh-arrs" to use in the explanation...

4 Blokes marooned on a desert island with nothing but a conveniently washed ashore dead horse. Lots of arguing about who gets to eat what fairly till they are starving and the horse is still untouched. Eventually one says "We`ll sort it out on Football lines"

"I go for Manchester, so I will have the chest"
"I go for Cambridge College, so I will have the legs" says the second man.
"I go for Gateshead so I will have the head" says the third man.
"I`m not hungry" says the fourth man, and promptly expires from starvation.

"What the hell???" asks the second man.
"Old Bill was always a big Arsenal supporter" replies the first man.

Wow, how can a poster with only 8 words on it have so many mistakes!!!??

1. The COGS WON`T MOVE if positioned like that.
2. The Manchester Metroshuttle NEVER MOVES ANYWAY.
3. NOTHING WORK in Manchester together or otherwise.
4. The reflection in the poster`s glass DOESN`T show the photographer is naked.
5. The top cog will keep getting stuck on the `E`
6. If the top cog DOES move it will sometimes make it the "WETROSHUTTLE`
7. The squiggly lines in the logo, when read as a soundwave, make the sound "ZZZZZZZZ" - perfect for Manchester
8. There isn`t an 8th but since there were 8 words on the poster I`m saying the 8th mistake was that there was NO 8th mistake.

PS Can you guess I`m an ex-Manchestrian?

No, the gears are place properly, it`s just a question of perspective because gear 2 is in the background only connected to the gear number 1.

This is a common clock gear. The only real trouble with the picture is that you can only see the gear from the front.

The only problem I see is that the gears wouldn`t be able to move. That`s not really a problem with a simple poster design, though...

Is it because three cogs in contact cant spin?

Male 2,199
is it the fact that the gears would counter-act themselves making them move nowhere? cuz other then that, i got nothing... and even then its not that much of a flaw, he just tried to make it look artistic
