I know this is a classic cartoon, but seriously, who gives out rocks on Halloween?! Even raisins or apples are better than rocks...

Ok, so watching this made me think of one of my favorite songs that my dad and I used to sing all the time when I was little. (I had unusual nursery rhymes including Maxwell`s Silver Hammer, Bonnie & Clyde, and The I Feel Like I`m Fixin` To Die Rag.)
Wonder how many of you have heard of it before.

Snoopy vs The Red Baron

Give it a listen, it`s awesome. (And I took the liberty of posting the lyrics in proper order right after this post. )"

I LOVE YOU. YOU JUST MADE ME REMEMBER ANOTHER SONG FROM MY CHILDHOOD.

Snoopy vs The Red Baron
-The Royal Guardsmen

After the turn of the century
In the clear blue skies over Germany
Came a roar and a thunder men had never heard
Like the scream and the sound of a big war bird
Up in the sky, a man in a plane
Baron von Richthofen was his name
Eighty men tried, and eighty men died
Now they`re buried together on the countryside

Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more
The Bloody Red Baron was rollin` out the score
Eighty men died tryin` to end that spree
Of the Bloody Red Baron of Germany

In the nick of time, a hero arose
A funny-looking dog with a big black nose
He flew into the sky to seek revenge
But the Baron shot him down--"Curses, foiled again!"

The Bloody Red Baron was rollin` out the score
Eighty men died tryin` to end that spree
Of the Bloody Red Baron of Germany

Now, Snoopy had sworn that he`d get that man
So he asked the Great Pumpkin for a new battle plan
He challenged the German to a real dogfight
While the Baron was laughing, he got him in his sight

That Bloody Red Baron was in a fix
He`d tried everything, but he`d run out of tricks
Snoopy fired once, and he fired twice
And that Bloody Red Baron went spinning out of sight

Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more
The Bloody Red Baron was rollin` out the score
Eighty men died tryin` to end that spree
Of the Bloody Red Baron of Germany

It still is in some place, don`t judge the whole world by the standards of the society around you. Even within your own society, there are still people like that - gentleness, peace and fellowship are a choice, not an impossible option, but modern rat-race living makes us forget that.

I love how Schultz used various mood colors during the Red Baron fight. Also, you have to hand it to Lucy`s character, she may be a complete bossy bitch but she loves her brother so much she`d go out at 4am just to drag him out of a pumpkin patch. :)

I guess with the lack of sfx and technology (compared with current animation) you get a lot better story and sincerity in your cartoons and animation.

it makes me truly sad that the world cannot be like this any more. i sat down and watched this straight through three times, and i loved it every time, just as i always have. it was quite a bittersweet experience. :S

lol... as long as you forgive me for it Freddy (also, because I`m feeling egotistical I`m going to take that as a compliment.. you know as "nobody is perfect" and not liking Peanuts TV specials is my only downfall.)

I love the Peanuts comic strips (fun fact: I stole my dad`s old Peanuts Treasury that he bought from a book fair when he was in like 4th or 5th grade) but I`ve never been a fan of the TV specials. I`m not sure why.
