Disney"s explanation of menstruation, told largely with diagrams and completely avoiding the subject of sex. Weird.

i actually liked this video... far more sensitive and better advice than most old tutorials that feed you crap like "4 days every 28 days" and "Slight discomfort" when it`s really 9 days one month, and 3 days two months later, and searing twisting pains that have you clutchng your sides.

Good ole disney.

Slight cramps? More like feeling like your swelling up like a balloon, craving chocolate like crazy, and really painful cramps that have you curled up in a ball on your bed, taking Midol like candy.

They missed where, three days before you start, you go out with your friends, drink 3 fishbowl margaritas, decide that your boyfriend is Satan, drive by his house at 3:00 a.m. and scream epithets at him while laying on your horn, then on the way home deliberately drive your car into a tree because God hates you. Not that I`ve ever done any of this of course.....it was a "friend"...yeah....that`s why we have the rule at our house "No drinkin` tequila lessen you got bail money first". <lol>

gee, thanks, disney. you take something i`ve come to terms with and accepted as normal, and completely freak me the hell out. that baby was creepy, especially when it faded to a 3-d outline. the girl sobbing uncontrollably was a nice touch.

Lol I love the girl brushing her hair and breaking into tears.

I have to say I always liked the way Disney drew girls so feminine. It must be something that attracted us to those classic movies at a young age.

The bouncy horse scene reminded me of the old thought that if a woman`s hyman(sp?) was broken it meant she weren`t a virgin. XD

"Oh, ED!"

Actually, being in a bath during your period (without a tampon, I mean) doesn`t matter. The warm water seems to stop your period - not exactly stop everything (like screw it up), just pause it XD You stop bleeding while you`re in the bath.

I remember watching this with my mum when I was eight. I don`t know where she found it (It was 1990) but I found it very strange.

btw, Nexus, some people STILL believe the myth that taking a bath during your period will stop up your system and cause all sorts of problems, including sterility. It isn`t true, pretty much none of it is. Just gotta remember to use a tampon, unless you like sitting in pink-red water.

Anyway, after that little TMI thought...

Actually, the vid was rather well informed and didn`t give stupid ideas like `Four days long every twenty-eight days.` Some others have done that, which makes anyone else think they`re a freak for having a two day period every thirty days or something. I actually commend disney for putting out such a well-informed video about menstruation for the mid-forties!

Jeebus Crispies! That was crazy.
from what I read about the era, people didn`t bathe but once a week or so. Daily didn`t come until the 50`s. Can you inagine washing your hair only once a week? Or a shower? Ewwww.

Ladies, try your best not to catch one!!! All those that try are risking complications!

So let me get this straight... Mother Nature gives you an alien implant that makes you play with blocks, dolls and books, then it starts leaking through your body and an evil face in your butt starts ordering velvet wallpaper in exchange for eggs... then the implant makes you short, tall, heavy, slight, or turns you into a cat. You can wash but don`t use hot or cold water, and during your period you will be able to lift furniture with one finger, have a magic shadow and eat like a horse.

Best Bits:
"Try not to... get overtired or emotionally upset (at period time)"
When has that ever happened to any woman YOU know??

"(A calendar) is a useful record of past performance"
Why? So you can keep practicing and beat your personal best?

"Just use common sense (with exercise)"
Like riding a bicycle flat out downhill without holding onto the handlebars??

Their was less "sex" in 1946 and more "breeding". Sex is enjoyable, nobody enjoyed sex untill 1960`s!
