Now wait, they don`t want milk from cows (which is common in almost every country in the world) to be used because of the effect on cows, but they want humans to somehow collectively get women around the United States to produce an endless supply of milk 24/7? Um, they didn`t talk much about how they were going to do that or where they would GET the breast milk did they.

    In short, drat PETA

Talk about hypocrites. They want to stop cows from being forced to give milk and yet they want human women to be forced into the same situations? Not only that, but I don`t even think PETA knows just HOW MUCH milk goes into creating all that ice cream so it can stock shelves all around the US.

PETA needs to die in a fire. I`m all for treating animals nicely, but these tards take it to a level that shouldn`t have been created.

It would really be great if PETA could learn to count. I will admit that the much of the meat industry needs to be reformed, but if we removed meat as a source of nurishment people would die. Their is not enough land on the planet to support the amount of farming needed to feed the world. People are starving from lack of food already. Do we really need to get rid of a large portion of that. Also I drink milk every day, and have never once broken a bone.

I am really starting to think PETA is run by the beef industry hellbent on making vegetarians look bad. Every damned thing they do is stupid and poorly thought out, to the point of being comical. Whether they are trying to undermine vegetarianism or they really are that dumb and idealistic, they are about as helpful to the animal rights movement as McDonalds. If you care at all about animal rights, you will speak out against PETA!

They keep talking about how cow`s milk is incredibly unsafe for customers, yet

    1) Ben and Jerry`s goes through all the precautions to make sure the dairy products are clean
    2) PETA`s claim is saying human milk is 110% pure, clean, sterilized, and safe.

I agree with Batmanners. After the onslaught of Onion articles we`ve been getting here, I expected this to be fake.

It would be interesting to at least see a limited edition run of a breast milk flavor.

    1. The women would get paid for the donated milk
    2. Breast milk isn`t nasty (why would human milk be nastier than cow or goat milk?)
    3. Peta is insane to believe all B&G ice cream could be replaced
    4. B&G don`t use hormones to over-milk their cows
    5. Ben and Jerry sold their company last year, or two years ago. They might have a say as figureheads or stockholders, maybe, but they don`t technically own the company.
    6. PETA act like r-tards, though sometimes they have good points, they`re just overshadowed by their ridiculous behavior.

honestly, this makes a lot of sense, i don`t see why its that outrageous, humans drink human milk cows drink cow milk, that makes perfect sense, we as a species were not intended to drink the milk of other animals. this would create more jobs. it would be healthier. honestly i couldn`t care what happens to the cows, but we would be greatly benefitted

I really thought this was going to be an Onion article. I have several problems with this. 1) Think of the quality of people that would end up selling their milk. Drug addicts needing money for a fix. I`m sure there would be a screening process, but there are always bound to be people that slip through the cracks. 2) Women who don`t even breastfeed their own baby so they can save milk to sell. 3) Women who get pregnant JUST for the sake of selling milk. This has got bad news written all over it.

Oy... PeTA is at it again. I think all that soy is getting to them...

Human breastmilk would be a bad idea. It wouldn`t freeze properly and you can`t really mix flavours into it well. Once you freeze breast milk, it layers into its components.

I used to breastfeed my son when he was a baby. (He`s three now.) I got curious. It`s extremely sweet and extremely thin. Not a good idea for ice cream.

If they use common sense, they`d do better to ask for a line of soy-cream to be marketed alongside the regular ice cream.

Wait... Don`t B&J do that already?

My main concern would be that human breastmilk would really affect the texture of the ice cream. It`s really watery and really sweet (so I`ve heard, anyway). It doesn`t seem like it would be a very good substitute, I don`t think. Plus...it`s weird.

It annoys me how stupid some of these comments have been.
iAMzach, they aren`t putting animal life above humans. The way we are milking cows as of now is milking them until they are so unhealthy they can`t move or anything, so they are made into crappy hamburgers. Humans, on the other hand, if they were milked, the milkers wouldn`t continue to milk women if they were being medically affected by it.

And smashking, although the milk is clean in the sense that there isn`t any bacteria or stuff like that, our species isn`t meant to drink cow milk. Cow milk, as well as animal meat, even though it is extremely common to consume these, our bodies still have trouble with them. Meat, our bodies have trouble digesting it, and it increases your risk of many different types of cancer. And milk, as this article says, does increase your risk of obesity, prostate cancer, etc.

This idea`s creepy and I dont even think it`d work, but if you don`t know what you are talking about, don`t pretend yo

this is the smartest thing i have ever heard from anyone ever, so the fact that PETA is saying this is a shock. j/k, i dont really mind the idea i could give a drat less, but i don`t really think it will fly with everyone so in this creation PETA, would sub create a group against Human cruelty and milking HCaM and then there would be an epic battle over the milk in which poor women would get caught in between and there will be cow milk being thrown at PETA and the world will be in total chaos.

smig, too many. On an average feeding of a three month old, a woman`s breasts produces about six ounces TOTAL of breast milk. It takes about four hours to produce those six ounces. For a six month old, it increases to eight ounces TOTAL over a course of about five hours.

Human bodies aren`t meant for mass production of dairy products.

To Mrhomestar, that is propaganda given by the Physicians` Committee for Responsible Medicine. The PCRM has been well known to have at least 70% of its` members with revoked medical licenses, and are on the payroll of PeTA itself. They`re paid to claim the things that PeTA wants to shove into the mainstream media. They figure because they`re DOCTORS (whether legitimately or not) that people would listen to them.

I just threw up a little at this.

Women would be getting pregnant to sell their milk, which means more people, and more people means more food, and a great deal of our food comes from meats and dairy products. If we cut out the meats and diary products, then we have less food and more people, and nasty ice cream.

I will not buy ice cream if human breast milk is being put into it. That would seem to me like eating someone`s spit.

Then answer me this. If meat is soooo bad for our system, why is it we need it to LIVE? Also, I demand medical proof on how cow milk causes cancer and fat people. Unless I see DOCTORS WITH COMMON SENSE telling me MILK AND NOTHING ELSE caused this, then I ain`t believing it.

Okay 1. this is PETA we already know it`s going to be crazy.
2.A man with a single resturant could replace 70% of his milk with breast milk cause he`s one restuarant, not a franchise.
    3. I have never heard of any doctor or physician saying feeding any form of milk was bad. Whether it be cow, human, goat, or cocunut. (yes it`s technically not milk, but it`s referred to as milk)and being this is PETA I pretty sure it`s someone being paid to say that.
    4. Yes cows to have to be insemmentated every ten months, however they can produce a lot of milk and for the care of a cow as opposed to a human is much cheaper.
    5. Women can consume much worse stuff than cows, seeing how a cows diet is regulated and they are doing any drugs that could show up, cows milk is safer, yes I said it safer.
    6. EWWWWWWW
    7. Where do you find that many women willing to sell breast milk? I want to know.

I am a vegetrain and i do stand up for what PETA stands for, although i agree they can take things too far. but the thing about this one is that they don`t want ben and jerry`s to literlly use breast milk, they`re making a point, saying that if you won`t drink another woman`s milk than you would you drink an animals? also, i heard some people say that if you dont take the milk from the cow then it will have too much milk or something, but cows these days can produce more milk because they have chemicals put into their bodies. although i am not a vegan, i do support the fact that the cows should be treated properly, because there is sooooo much animal abuse taking place in those farms and there is no law against that kind of cruelty. thats just not fair! =

The key word in this article is "Urges" because it sound retarded to force people to make such radical changes when you have no authority.

PETA only wants to draw attention to the fact that some companies would never get away with what their doing to animals if those animals were humans or could speak.

It`s time to end capitalism and remplace our economical system to a resource based economy, that would change everything. Protesting like they do wont change a thing.

"And smashking, although the milk is clean in the sense that there isn`t any bacteria or stuff like that, our species isn`t meant to drink cow milk. "

Just to tell you, human milk contains traces of blood, which can easily contain things like STDs and other blood based diseases/viruses. And homogonezing it will be a pain, along with getting enough milk. Last, humans have been drinking cow milk for centuries, perhaps millenniums, so by now it`s highly probably that we`ve adapted to cow milk.

Honestly, using human milk is just not feasible. It`s not economically possible, and it would require forced lactation from thousands of women just to make enough for a single day`s supply. I doubt it would work.

Breast milk is extremely thin, extremely sweet and doesn`t actually freeze well.

In the leading dairy farms, cows are treated extremely well. They`ve found that the more relaxed the cow the better the milk is, so they try to keep the cow relaxed. Besides if the cow isn`t milked every so often they get uncomfortable. It`s similar to you needing to go to the bathroom and holding it for a long time. You can feel the pressure in your bladder build and you go to the bathroom. In some milking facilities that`s exactly how they milk the cows. The cows feel pressure from the milk so they go to the automated milker.

Taitai - It`s not the chemicals that make them produce so much milk. It`s natural. Yes, chemicals make them produce even more, but even cows without the hormones still enjoy being milked. It`s like your bladder, you want it empty.

PETA has gone to far a LONG time ago. I`m all for not treating animals cruelly and stuff, but it`s not like cows are dying when they milk them or anything. And as for the "health risks" they mentioned, milk and dairy things do a lot of good, too.

Haha. Ok, I got one... will they make human-milk cheese and ice cream??

Heh, the real problem here is production volume. You`d need to enslave most of the human race to satisfy the global demand for all dairy products. Its too funny... PETA would rather do that then milk cows.

"how is milking a cow making them suffer??? they do it every day, we`re just using it for different purposes than the cow."

Not that i agree with what PETA are asking of them at all here, but that comment is stupid..
cows dont "use their milk everyday" the only reason cows produce milk for us all year round is because we keep milking them.. cows are only supposed to produce milk through pregnancy and a couple of weeks/to a month or so afterwards. but when we milk them they produce it for up to 17 weeks, or more...depending on the farm.

so, my point being, milking cows is actually quite cruel when done in certain ways, not that anyone really cares about the cows or anything, after all this is the internet.

ps, when cows are milking for no calf, they get extremly broody...and they sorta, pine for young/ but they cant have any, cos its up to the farmers when they breed. ill stop guilt tripping now, milk tastes good.

Ok... Those of you who think that women produce milk WHILE PREGNANT have obviously never BEEN pregnant. I`m surprised there`s so many women on here who actually think this.

No. Your milk doesn`t start to be produced until about two days AFTER you have the baby. Up until then, the baby is feeding on a super-concentrated version of what they get through the umbilical cord. Once your milk comes in, you KNOW. Your breasts are suddenly feeling very tight and very... big. And heavy. And painful. And the only relief is to let your baby feed. Which is thankfully at that point about every two hours.

However: Like I said, it`s an internal supply-and-demand cycle. The mother will only produce about six to eight ounces every four to five hours. Not viable for harvesting in order to market it to the public in this volume.

So... instead of using cows for milk they want to strap devices to extract milk from women? Thus making the human being a form of livestock, whose purpose is to create milk for the country? They must have some "brilliant" people working there.

Oh, but sereena, it`s not JUST human beings. After all, men would NOT allow things like this to happen to them. No, it`s just the women.

And thus PeTA proves yet again that it is merely an organization that gets away with being overtly sexist and pigheaded.

True, it seems us women are always the ones being subjected to this kind of treatment. The other day in my Psych class, my professor brought up how women are almost always objectified in advertisements, not once have I seen something done like this with men. Unless you count the one Axe Chocolate guy commercial.

Oh come on this is not a sexist thing. The fact is, human milk is produced by women.

Regardless, it`s an insane idea that will never happen.

people, i`m sure the women would be PAID. or just volunteers. either way, i think it would be a good idea... and i don`t understand how drinking a woman`s milk is "discusting" (great spelling there) and consuming a completely different species` milk isn`t. think about the way cows smell o_O think about how they lick out the insides of their nostrils, and you would rather drink their milk than someone of your species who probably has infinitely better hygiene, and who doesn`t smell like a mountain of filth...

    Ok "hollowshyguy"

Yes.. I spelled Disgusting wrong. I also despise people like you who just love and live to correct other peoples spelling. I will misspell as many words as I want. Another thing. WTF! You think its a "good idea"? What is wrong with your head? Everything would taste... different. By different I mean disgusting. You talk about how these women would get paid. Guess what! I DONT CARE! I really could care less if these women would be getting millions. It doesnt change the fact that its coming from a womans tits. Also YOU think about where these women have been before. Think about all of the men/women that have had dirty things done to them. Just think... got it? Yet.... Its OKAY! =D. No thanks. I`m not about to let this happen. I love my cow milk. I have had my time where I would defend animals and say.. "Its wrong. Very wrong. Eating something with a face, heart, brain, feelings" then I would start to cry. THEN I would start to remember a

PETA is messed up and they`ve gone too far! I don`t drink milk at all, except soy milk. But I can`t disagree more. Sometimes I like ice cream and I don`t want sick women ruining it. If PETA cares so much they can make their own lousy human milk and drink it themselves.

PETA tried to get the Green Bay Packers to change their name because they`re named after a meat packing company. PETA said that the name "Packers" is offensive to the animals and hurts their feelings...

    1) I wouldn`t mind sucking some titties for fun, but I don`t think it would taste too good in ice cream.
    2) PETA is a joke to REAL animal rights activists.
    3) Britt, maybe your tits are disgusting, but I find mine pleasurable from time to time. If you think about it, cow udders are much dirtier since they touch the ground sometimes whereas women generally wash that area.
    4) I wouldn`t object to eating human meat. There are actually a few animals that cannibalize and we have more people than we can feed anyway.
