I used to live in NYC & let me tell you, the freaking bike messengers are WORSE then the cars. Maybe if they stop zipping in & out of traffic like they`re invincible this type of poo wouldn`t happen.

If you watch the video you can CLEARLY see that the messenger went into the van`s lane. Try rearview mirrors dumb ass..

Besides, it`s a Con Edison truck (electric supplier for NYC), I`m MORE then sure he sued the crap out of them & either got a boat load of money OR lost the case because of this tape.

I hope he lost because the bike messengers that do not pratice saftey are asses and deserve what they get.

The bike got too close to the van. The van was still in its lane. It was really the bike`s fault.

I find it hard to believe that someone just happened to be filming this before it happened. Fake/Setup.

dude, buy a new bike. your not dead. an f-ed up bike is better than tire meets face meets pavement.

screw this guy. i hate bikers. my mobile device is much bigger than yours, i think it would be smart if you didnt ride it inches from me.

>>Power of the human mind

I think you mean "Power of the human BUTT" - dums#it nearly gets himself killed, and rather than be thankful he`s alive, he want`s to pick a fight with someone. Would have been better if the van killed him.

the thing is bikes are not insured. so ppl think if they make a big fuss they will get better compensation. also if you are hurt seriously you do act in a way different than usual. problem is there is no clear line between the two.

Can`t feel the least bit sorry for the bike messenger. Does anybody here live in New York? Well if you do you know that these bike messengers are absof**kinglutely insane and that is an understatement. They disregard every traffic law there is, they run red lights, they don`t give a rat`s ass where they turn or how, and if you are a pedestrian you better jump out of the way really quick if you see one heading towards you.
Therefore I say oh well, you can only ignore the rules so many times before it bites you in the ass.

Okay, Before I start I hate bicyclists with a passion. I don`t understand how they can abide by the same regulations as cars do. The guy was riding to the side (which he should in my opinion) and simply decided to ride in the middle..or turn left, i haven`t decided. How is it okay to have to ride behind a dick with tights on, who rides in the middle of the road at 10-15mph on a 40mph street (Where i live..not the video)

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULDN`T RIDE YOUR BIKE IN THE STREETS PEOPLE.

serves him right for being so close to a car....i don`t like those bikes that think they can be so close or ride where they want because they are smaller and they will get sympathy from the law when injured...
HAHAHA...he was crying over a bike...hahaha

I call BS. Why was that being filmed if it wasn`t staged? Why was someone just "randomly" filming traffic on the street like that?

That was a setup. The rider knew where the camera was and picked out a vehicle to get by, then let it "hit him". Which means he ran into it. The whole going nuts thing is beyond me though, I still don`t get the point of that.

His bike = his job.

And 200$ rims would take a while to replace with no bike to earn the dollars. Not hugely expensive for rims 4e574e57363g(check bike prices for kit before you sound condescending ) but if he can`t do any deliveries, he wouldn`t be able to afford to replace, nevermind the spokes/hubs/frame damage.

Aahnold, bikes are supposed to ride on the road. In fact, in most places it`s illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk at all. I couldn`t really tell if the bike messenger swerved in front of the van or not, but assuming he didn`t, the van is entirely responsible for giving any bike rider enough space to ride safely.

Aahnold, the messanger was turning onto the sidewalk, he had right of way, the driver had no reason to keep going, its unacceptable
(btw i think there is a bike lane in Times, but idk about that)

Looks like he got a lesson in physics, bikes should not try to share the road with cars. I don`t live in New York, but it gets annoying when people on bikes ride in the road like they think they have the same rights as cars. If you are incapable of going the speed limit then stay of the road.

I saw a bike messenger get cut off by a garbage truck in San Fran...the guy went absolutely berserk. The truck stopped, and the messenger was screaming at the driver, "stay in your own f`ing lane!", while hitting the side of the truck with something (couldn`t tell what it was). It was nuts. The cops finally calmed him down.

O_o Whoa! $800bike/job/confidence on the road. Three things lost in a couple of seconds. I CANNOT blame him for being hysterical (and what a bout of hysterics he had) after that. The van driver didn`t even stop right away. Could have stopped instantly, and not injured the guy`s ankles.

And ...XD Bobbyo!!!

I wish that hadn`t made me laugh. :/
