The acting is really horrible... sorry for stating the obvious but that`s what they meant by "Horror movie" when they labeled this movie.

The best part of this movie is either the dead old lady in the bathroom or the guy in the bunny costume givin that one guy head

Wait, are they making a remake? Because if there is one, it would suck like the Omen remake.

Ohh... I remember watching this movie a few years ago...

I`m not really sure, but wasn`t this movie one of the first horror movies?

For those of you who haven`t seen the film and are saying it`s dumb because of this clip- Shame on you.
The Shining is a classic!
No joke here. I can`t believe kids now a days.

Ah. I figured there was a reason behind the knife in the bathroom.

I`ve seen the movie a few times, just couldn`t remember that...

To all who are saying "why was there a random knife" and "why doesn`t she climb out the window":

She carries the knife with her from the kitchen after she locks Jack in the pantry before this scene.

They are snowed in, and most of the window is covered and she can`t fit anyway, only her son can.

I just finished the book, and it was fantastic. I haven`t seen the movie, but judging by this clip and others I`ve seen, I want to keep it that way.

everyone saying that she should have just stabbed him in the face

he`s her husband! she probably doesnt want to hurt him cos she thinks the insanity is temporary. most people wouldnt be able to stab a member of their family. even if that relative had gone insane and was trying to kill them

Kubrick was a genius. I will always love him for clockwork orange (both the book and film are amazing)
I actually prefer the bit in the shining with the twins though.

I watched the film before i read tha book, and i liked it. Then i read the book and realised the film was rubbish in comparison. Left out so much, like the hedge animals.

"In terms of screenplay, a very bad angle to be quite honest. Making it so she was on the left side of the door and him on the right would make it seem a lot more realistic, rather than have the angle of both of them on the right side."
jack nicholson was on the left not the right

why not either A: break through the window and get the heck out of there or B: stab the guy in the face?

Talk about no survival skills =)

She should have stabbed him as soon as he stuck his face in the hole.

It`s such a great movie but yeah the book was even better.

I think the best part of this scene is how the camera follows the axe. Makes the whole thing that much more intense! Like Kubrick or not, but you have to admit, the guy was a genius.

Stephen King really hated what Kubrick did to his book, and didn`t want this movie released at all.

Yeah i can understand that. I`m half way through the book now and after watching the film a couple of years ago it (the film) can`t hold a candle to it.

Am I the only person in the world who thinks that Shelly Duvall is hot in this film?

He is doing that all wrong. If you use an axe, never cut the wood along the grain - you will just split it. Try a 45-degree angle next time Jack, maybe that way you`ll get it the bathroom in time to kill her BEFORE she runs away. Tut tut. *shakes head in despair*

VictoryRider, the window was too small to get through. I must agree, though, that she`s the most annoying character in The Shining.

Wait, this place gets modded now. Before it was sold, people got away with murder.

She sure screams a lot. She should have stabbed him in the eye when he said, "Here`s Johnny." Plus, there was a friggin window right there. Maybe there was a reason she didn`t go out it, I don`t really remember. I`m guessing it was just to make the movie more interesting.
