The next person who says it`s a crap remake of a british film `mean machine` should blow their brains out....

The Longest Yard is an actual remake of THE LONGEST YARD from 1971 that starred burt reynolds in the role Sandler did in 2001.

God, IAB people are so retarded.

So apparently no on has seen The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler? circa 2005?

And even then they probably stole that trick from someone else.

This is not new or innovative.

The center only needs to hand the ball to the QB. It doesn`t have to be be between his legs. The play is totally legal. The other team should have been more heads up. Tricky.

actually not only is that a cheap thing to do, it is illegal. watch the snap closely before it zooms in, the center just turns around and gives it to him, which is quite illegal

Yeah cheating, fully. Doesn`t matter if it is legit, it is not in the spirit of sport. It`s about which team has the better football skills, not which is better at duping.

That`s a dirty trick.
They are kids, and probably didn`t know all the rules in such detail. Plus, there`s always exceptions to rules in these leagues. When I watched my cousin play hockey, I spotted lots of things (offside and such), yet the refs didn`t say anything.

I`m waiting to see a video where someone tries this and the whole offensive line gets planted on their butts, the quarterback gets injured, and the parents get pissed and get the coach fired for being such a douche.

Male 2,148
It`s a legal play. Once the refs place the ball and start the clock and what not, when the ball is moved by the offense it starts the play. There`s actually two arguments to this play. First off, the defense should know that when the ball was moved the play started. However, and more importantly, I bet someone quit football at the end of the season because at such a young age it`s just a dick move to do this.

It`s not illegal but it`s crap. The other team should just beat the holy hell out of them after that. Screw getting penalties, go for it. Knock them out, facemask their asses into the ground, kick the poo out of that quarterback. Maybe next time they`ll play like they should instead of using cheap crap like that.

Male 7,933
"only a whiny kid could pull that off. and how good do you feel after that?"

The defense should`ve seen it coming.

"wasn`t that on an Adam Sandler movie?"

You mean the re-make of another movie? That plays been in football for a while.

Rule 9.9.3 is a standard rule for high school football. With that said I dont know if it applies to all states (Its from the NFHS, I know in Florida we use the NFSAA), or if it applies to all pee wee leagues.

And Jersey? They play sports in the North?

Actually not basketkase, not all leagues have the deception rule.
I know here in PA in my midget league they didn`t, we used to have a play where we would have the QB walk out yelling "move out" three times.
On the third "move out" the ball would be snapped to the RB who would throw it to the QB who is streaking down field. The play was called moveout, go figure. It all depends on who your league is sponsored by.
As far as your little profile, you seem to be bragging a little, I`ve been scouted by a number of D1 schools and you don`t see me flaunting it (whoops).
No matter what though, it is a question of semantics on whether you think this should be allowed in a you league. As far as the snap is concerned, the center turned around and handed the ball to the QB, which is legal but is not typically known because it is not typically seen.

Oh, and football > all other sports.

Here is the exact rule

Rule 9.9.3 - "Actions or verbiage designed to confuse the defense into believing there is a problem and a snap isn`t imminent is beyond the scope of sportsmanship and is illegal." It is a 15 yard unsportsmanlike foul and the ball remains dead.

0
Reply
Male 1,182
actually if you guys know anything about football which you obviously don`t, let me inform you

As of 2006 this is an illegal play, and its a penalty and its called Deception - The offense can make no sign/signal that would make the defense believe that a snap is not imminent or something is wrong with equipment

sorry that you guys know nothing about football

"wrong ball" is nothing new. If kids still fall for it then too bad. It`s up there with the first baseman pretending to the the ball back to the pitcher and then tagging the runner out.

"whilst we`re on the subject of trick plays, can i throw in Brett Favre`s trick play and TD throw to J-Co
oh yh the game where the jets beat the tunas, suck on tht ptk"

That was a BS throw, he wasn`t even aiming for him.... and Pennington has no arm, he can`t even reach the endzone 20 yards away... Jets still suck

I still enjoy the Steelers trick play, one of the few bright spots of Kordell Stewart`s career there. I can`t find a video, but he went to the sidelines claiming he couldn`t here the play. The ball was direct snapped to another player and I think it was thrown to Stewart in the EZ.

Its like what they did in Adam Sandler`s Longest Yard. Such a fantastic play.

LOL...I don`t want to be one of those guys who says that this is a repost but....it is :) And yes this play is completely legal. The ball was snapped but no one on the defense acted on the snap because of what the player said...this means that the ball is live and it is basically just a quarter back sneak w/o the defenders trying to get you...but I do have to commend the coach for coming up with such an innovative play...I also have to scold the defensive coach because his players should have been taught to jump when the ball gets snapped, so the defense should have attacked as soon as the ball moved...This is a fundamental of football

totally legal, just really dirty play.

All that has to happen is the center snap the ball to the QB. It`s the defense`s fault for not jumping on the ball when it was snapped.

I don`t know the rules of peewee football, but unless they called for a snap before he ran I think it`d have to be an offside or early snap call. Then again, the refs didn`t blow a whistle at all so who knows
