Wars aren`t fought in a day. Everyone thought the Civil War would last 2, 3 months tops... on both sides.
But I am honored that he fought for me. Something that I could not do. So he does have my gratitude as an American

Hey, I had a little hook thing like he has for a while when I was younger...

Though he lost his arm. That`s WAY tougher.

And thanks Davy, it`s good to see an example here of how both sides (all sides, really) are represented in the army.

    AAAAAAND let the discussion begin!

Most people already have their views set in stone. No alleged "evidence" or "arguments" are going to sway anyones opinions on anything. That being said, eh, f*ck it. THC needs to be pumped lightly into the water system. If people were just a little more chill, things would be much better.

This war had to be fought, Sadam was a monster and people need to remember it was he who claimed to have WMD. I`m sorry this man lost a hand but many have lost their lives for freedom, both ours and others. Support our troups.

vv "And thanks Davy, it`s good to see an example here of how both sides (all sides, really) are represented in the army."

To be fair, user orionsbelt has to get the credit for finding this and posting it in the discussion on the other video. I just submitted it as a link.

vv And birdbranze, to repost a comment of mine from the last thread, of course we support our troops (I`m British, our boys are getting killed too), and we all want them to come home safely. But it`s really really OK to support the troops and at the same time oppose the war and the lies we were all fed going into it.

I`m constantly amazed that there are millions of people out there who cannot (or will not) make the distiction between those two compatible views.

it is getting to the point in this issue where I am just wanting to smack people. And scream at them. Dude from the last veteran blurb. . .did not even finish watching his little mini napoleonic tirad. .

because the reality is as this gentleman states it is. . .it will just take the jar heads WAY longer to get it.

but some Americans might actually not be able to handle the truth. But in their pretend world the were WDM`s we have freed people allover this world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war...

cause to actually "see" can be really upsetting or vastly liberating.

    Freedom isn`t free, That`s a fact.

I`d say this guy is out numbered by 1 in 10 on his views. Most military troops don`t think this war was a mistake. Maybe this guy didn`t get to see WMD`s first hand, But they where there.

And to any of you that don`t believe Saddam was supporting terrorism, Consider this.
Saddam was paying the widows of suicide bombers $25,000 for their sacrifice.

    Saddam pays suicide bombers

Agreed. Which is where I see the greatest irony in that the vast majority of hardcore supporters of the "War on Terror" are right-wing conservative christians, who are ususally the first ones to spout things like "God doesn`t hate homosexuals, he just hates their acts of homosexuality".

There were no WMD`s. Osama and Hussein hated each other, there was no Iraq connection to 9-11. Undisputable facts. I support our soldiers when they defend our borders..but not our imperialistic oil grab. I was a soldier. In a volunteer military, if you don`t want Iraq as a destination, crosstrain with another afc and get located in the states and live of of the taxpayers conflict free like 99.7 percent of our military is doing right now. Active duty isn`t doing crap..it`s the National Guard that is doing most of the fighting.

Well, its true.... There where none, and there still isnt any mass destruction weapons. They wanted the people to go over to take over a country. They wanted us to BULLY another country to get them to do waht we want. The sad thing is, many, if not all, of the politicians are CHRISTIAN, and, the sad thing is, christions are supposed to love thy neighbor. WTF. Then, theres another thing. They wanted US to go, but when it comes to the congressmens kids and the presidents kids.NOOOOOO. They dont go. We do.
The politicians SCARE us into doing things. THEY are the terrorrists! They use terror to get Iraq to settle down. When, iraq didnt even DO anything to us! 9/11 was Iran, maybe not even Iran. MAYBE IT WAS AMERICA THAT DID THAT! When we want something, we go at alllll costs to get it. Even if it means killing thousands of people, people with families and friends. I swear, im movin to cananda!

the war in Iraq may have been justified...but not the way bush did it...anyone will tell you the war was poorly planned and poorly executed

and what about if troops should be pulled out? well Iraq has said they want our troops out by 2011...so they are coming out

but the bush government deserves to be kicked out on its ass for basically throwing our troops into a war zone without any real plan of action...then had the audacity to say "mission accomplished" when they had done nothing at all

When you sign up to be a soldier some of your constitutional rights are taken away.

And in other news, I just heard that Hollywood is waiting to see who is President, and based on their tax brackets, that will decide how much they decide to spend on movies.

"Maddog, I dont really think they can question it."

Yes we can question it. I often do... very intelligently as a matter of fact. I am , along with many of the "dumb jar heads" someone called us earlier, fully aware when our Commander in Chief makes a bone-headed call. Or, our Government sends us in a direction that seems a little hairy and a little shady. We know it and we do question it, but we also have faith. We have all read "a message to garcia" and most of us carry forth the flame into the unknown whether we like it or not. We are all fully aware that we "may" be doing harm and that we "may" be doing good. I am sure the military personnel carpet bombing Japan during the World War knew they were killing innocent civilians too. We are not stupid. And yet it was still war and war exacts a price. We share the burden of command. So don`t call me ignorant sir.

So, don`t go thinking there aren`t soldiers (from the Iraq war and others alike) who are anti-war, or who at least disagree with the current war, and the government that started it. I`m sure they all see beyond McCain`s glorious POW image, too, to see that he`d really make things WORSE with his "foreign policy experience".

Not ALL soldiers are over-patriotic, gun-wielding, conservatives who hate Obama and his "dirty, hippie liberals" like some seem to believe. If you`ve ever been to an anti-war protest, or witnessed one, you`ll know that there are always veterans there that are helping to speak out against the war.

This video is just the tip of the iceberg of an entire group of people.

Japan attacked America, dragging America into the war...and I for one am thankfull for all those men who made those bad decisions that had to be made. Iraq is diffrent. Iraq was attacked for it`s oil. Dont claim it was WMDS! The U.N inspectors found NO evidence to support their where any. America attacked on suspect intelligence. We knew it was suspect, yet we, the UK followed! I don`t dispute Saddam was evil but he had NO links to Al-Quedia no matter what CrakrJak is claiming..Hell Bin, Laden openly called for his death at one point. >>>>>

The point is, America made Iraq what it was. America helped Saddam gain power in the 80s. Now a new generation is paying for that arrogance and breeding a new world of misery.

So..when you talk freedom, where do we stop? Iraq has oil, something we are willingly taking as the spoils of war! Sp do we continue to police the world? What about Dafur? What about Rober Mugabe and Africa? What about North Korea and Kim Jong-il? Hell..millions ofNorth Koreans have died under that madman!

If we justify Iraqm then we must be prapred to continue to remove the madmen from the world. That would be a noble and worthy cause...but thats not going to happen is it. Iraq had oil..and that is the sole reason we are there. To claim otherwise is ignorace. Make your choice!

Funny, you ask the people in Iraq if they knew back then what this would be like, they`d much rather have Sadam in power.

They said what is going on there now if far, far worse and it doesn`t look like its going to be getting any better.

When someone kidnaps their sons or husbands the women joke and say to their neighbors, "Oh, yes, well that`s the democracy working"

The conditions over there are HORRIFIC, please go out and listen to the people of that country and not just what you hear from American television and politicans. Most of them would rather have Sadam back.

I watched this show on Iraqi women and they were Dr.`s, Civil Engineers and Pharmacists who were very educated that came to the US to speak to people about what it is really like and that they want us to leave. Most of them when they returned to Iraq had to leave because they were put on a death list and lost family members because of it.

    Really sad stuff.

Pulling out wouldn`t make another 9/11 happen and if you think that you are ignorant.

9/11 happened because of lack of action with intelligence that the US was given about that attack. Not only our intelligence but warnings from many, many other countries. Other attacks planned for the US during Clinton were squashed and was made public.

Information was ignored and not dealt with by this administration, and no of course I do not believe they orchestrated it. I do believe they had ideas that something in the near future was going to be put in action and they failed to carry out the necessary precautions and defense. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind.

As many iraq/9-11 posts and threads that have been on here i am really surprised none of you have linked up the PNAC information. I`m not a 9/11 "truther" or whatever. I dont believe the government conspired to do it. I believe we should be in afghanistan looking for the people responsible for who did do it. I do not agree with the war with iraq. I was like a lot of you who think that we went there for the oil, but facts are as such. The oil fields are stabilized and some are operational. The oil rigs and reconstruction operation is being done by hailburton and company as you may be aware, but the oil that is being drawn from those fields are being sold elsewhere, to places like india and china and not being sold to the US. If you head over and look at the PNAC site and the wiki on the PNAC is reads like a hollywood NWO/illuminati movie plot. Except these are real people.

The project for a new american century`s agenda is total global econmic domination by the turn of the next century. These people have a 100 year plan to globalize the world economy and want america to control it. Their plan is and always has been to overthrow sadam husein because iraq is the perfect stagin area for america to control the middle east. It has a secure location to build a naval base and access to several surounding countries. Their goal is to make all the middle eastern countries fall in line so that america has the final say over distribution of oil, not to america itself for greed purpose, but because they want america to control the global economy

Now on topic... I don`t support the war, and i dont support the troops. When the man i voted into presidency betrayed my trust and backstabbed a nation who needed a straight shooting leader, i ended my love for the government. I love my country, but our government doesnt make the country. The citizens do. We are the backbone of this country, and we are all family. Every man woman and child who calls themselves a US citizen is my family. The good and the bad, differences and similarities, we are all family. The government who swore to protect this family has betrayed our trust. The troops don`t serve me and my family, the us citizens of this great country, they serve the government. Who do you think would enforce martial law if it was ever to be declared? These people arent defending the constitution, they are just doing what the leader tells them, and they do so willingly, knowing full well what side they chose, and it wasnt the side of the people.
