its all a matter of perspective. if you act like an ass hole and land a woman, you gotta ask your self "geez if her standards are this low, is she realy worth keeping? what sort of damage does she have that shed be attracted by duche bagery?" and if you act like a gentleman and she reacts postively you know you got a classy lady that may be worth holding on too. think of it as quality control for yourself. most of this is just common manners. and if it seems old fashioned think of it this way. it may not be neccesary but it couldnt hurt.

Some of those are just absurd. But I do have to agree with that breath mint thing. x)

I`ve seen enough a-holes in my life, and I know there are more to come, so thankfully I`ve never been stupid enough to date one.

Dick bags have their appeal because, like fluffyhoob said, it can seem like nice = boring. After a while it becomes evident that that`s not the case, and it`s nice guys ftw.

does anybody else notice a strangely gentle racism here?

========================

If you`re referring to the pictures, then yes. Lol.

Good points there, but some are too old fashioned. Like seriously, who stands up as a lady leaves the table? =/

You have a better chance of getting a woman if you break every rule on this list and then some. The age of chivalry is over, women want a*sholes and nothing else. And the women here may try to deny this is true, but 99% of you lie. If you really wanted the "nice guys", you would be with them.

i am with one :) and alot of women are after they get crap from the plebs they have been with previosuly. i think the misconception is that nice=boring...when it doesn`t

saying that my OH is a scruff bag so breaks a few on this list lol!

Well, I`ll be honest: I got 37 "Yeses", 7 "Not Availables/Applicables", and 6 "Nos".

I guess I`m only 74% Gentleman.

It wouldn`t be a BAD thing for me if a guy was a gentleman...

I`ve read wayyy too many romance novels from the Victorian times, where guys were always polite and proper...

I feel like if someone followed all of these they`d be a douche. o_O

But, as much as I`m for equality, being a gentleman (or just a polite person) is really freaking adorable to me.

this is kind of nice, it`d be nice to get a few decent guys out there. but then again, you get what you deserve. if you act like trash, then all you get will be trash.

20. At a restaurant, let women order food first, and stand up when a woman leaves the table.

Sounds a bit archaic don`t you think. Would really get a `wth are you doing?` from most women...

Well whaddya know, yet another article saying you have to be a complete brown-noser to be a decent guy. I think they missed the true #1 rule to being a good guy: IF ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS WOMEN, THEN YOU ARE A PATHETIC, USELESS EXCUSE FOR A MAN. That said, I thought some of the less emphasized points were spot on, namely the ones about reading and not just doing things for money (though I think that second one should be extended to sex as well as money).

"i say stay how you are and if they dont like the main concept of you, then stab them with a meat hook and drop them on the side of the highway..."

Nobody denies that you should be accepted for who you are. This article is about looking at ways for you to better yourself in the hopes of making a better catch. Improving and changing are different concepts. Personally I`m never above making improvements.

Nidonemo, I agree with you about Barnes & Noble. Personally, I prefer used bookstores or little hole in the wall mom and pop type bookstores. They don`t have the same selection, but it changes often and you see things you might not see at bigger stores. When I go shopping for books I never have a set idea in mind of what I want, I like to browse and will pick whatever catches my eye. At a big store there`s just so much that I get overloaded and frustrated. If there is a specific book I`m looking for I go to Amazon, by and far the best prices.

"44. Wear a belt. It’s called underwear for a reason."

Belt is made to hold up the pants, the pants have loops that hold up the belt... WHO IS THE dratING HERO?......

Basically what i got from this article is that every one of the guys that ive met (30 and under) are required to change almost every aspect of their beings in order to be a gentleman. i think that if a girl cant accept you for who you are, including not perfect clothes and the use of profanity, then they why keep them? i say stay how you are and if they dont like the main concept of you, then stab them with a meat hook and drop them on the side of the highway...i mean uhh...:D

B&N Is VERY expensive, try to find a cheaper chain with a great selection.

Also, when disagreeing with something like music or art or even pop culture, don`t say "It sucks", instead say "I don`t enjoy that as much as others." or even "It doesn`t speak to me."

Lol newlife, it`s a nice thought but i don`t think it`ll fly with the fems. I agree that if you invite a girl out to dinner it is appropriate to pay for the meal. If you both decide to go you either split the bill or flip a coin. Fast food is to each his own imo.

They should have a "50 rules to being a lady"
#1 rule....if the guy acts like a gentleman (opening doors, paying for dinner and movie, etc....) you are obligated to give him at least a handjob!!!

41. Barnes & Noble should be your best friend. TRUFAX. Know your ISBN codes, damnit! (No, no, I kid.)

As for the clothing? Seriously, I, personally don`t care. Just get educated. But, to be honest, I`d rather talk about Grand Prix and Räikkönen than what`s going on in the world.

AKA: Stay the way you are. Please.

Guys should listen to a lot of these. But in regards to the clothing and fashion at the beginning... I say guys should wear what they want. They shouldn`t change themselves.

Guys don`t have to be super-duper-smart. Just as smart as the girl they are seeing; girls like being better than guys sometime, too.

And politeness is a HUGE plus for me, and more than likely other girls.

Not bad advice...
I`m particularly fond of rules 27, 33, and 5.

5. “If you want her to be your devil, treat her like an angel.”—Gerrell Gaddis, 32, songwriter

27. Don’t talk down to coworkers, including subordinates. You may be above them in rank, but as a human being, you’re on a level playing field.

33. Don’t just talk the talk.
