Two are disqualified for jumping the gun. The last one races against himself. Guess who won?

FIRST No, for Olympic qualifying rounds you only get one chance because its just to qualify and they have to move faster than what they would at a typical meet.

Second, I respect him for having the courage to do that but that was a slow time.

Third, 1:06 is a slow time. considering you`re in yard not meters. And That i can swim breast stroke faster than that.

i have a lot of respect for him, having the courage to go up there and swim even though he isnt that good.
but how on earth did he qualify for the olympic trials?
and if you jump the gun, don`t you get to re-do it?
thats how all my swim meets went.

awwh i just googled him, he was determined to finish..

and they didn`t let him in the 2004 olympics becaue of a visa!? bah! it`s the olympics! make exceptions. he should be competing this year, his personal best is under 57 seconds now!

The guy comes from a country where the biggest pool is 20 metres. He learned to swim eight months before going. I have the biggest respect for him, for going out and swimming, and he probably can swim faster than most people laughing at him.

what`s sad is that the guy`s not fooling around. he was really trying. whose idea was it to go for a medal in an area they couldn`t practice, let alone win in?

At 1:50 the commentator says "Well, I`ll tell you what I like about the black guy..."

LMFAO racist much?

======================

^^ Idiot.

That guy actually went out there and did his best, he lucked out. I`m pretty sure this was for the 2004 Olympics (wouldn`t be 2002 because those were winter olympics, and swimming in winter isn`t a good idea)

As a swimmer, watching that just made me cringe. I don`t recall ever watching this coming out of Sydney though.

That was a from a show called "The Dream" hosted by "Rampaging" Roy Slaven and HG Nelson. The show was on every night during the Sydney Olympics and was very funny. One night they commentated the table tennis final. "ping pong ping pong..." You had to see it, I guess.

The commentators are Roy Slaven and HG Nelson. Yes, they are comedians. Google them and also `Fatso the Fat Arsed Wombat`.

I can`t even begin to imagine what the guys sitting on the side were feeling, watching this guy struggle in the water like that must`ve only added to the humiliation.

I laughed. Hard.

i`m pretty sure he wasn`t swimming slow on purpose. he was REALLY struggling and slowing way at the end.

and he now holds the record for 100m freestyle for equitorial guinea.

Melissa,
He was going slow because he didn`t need to go fast. I swam faster than that back in highschool. It was on purpose

I`d like to see swimming made a little harder thses days... perhaps fill the pool with jello or man-eating sharks or fat guys in speedos.
