"Today it is a cab driver, but tomorrow it could be a video game shop owner."

Wow, just what exactly are they implying?

"an obsessive player of the video game"

All things in moderation.

Hm, I`d hate to see what they do to video games in the future if this keeps up. D:

I don`t want to have to end up playing a GTA game with squirt guns. And have people bleed air. Hm.

Repetetive missions, clunky Geers of War shooting. Its a B grade game and you know it, youre only there for Liberty City. Im sorry but "I wanted to see if robbing a taxi cab was really that easy" makes for a cruel and terrible excuse. It ruins the gaming world for the rest of us and plays on the innocence and sympathy of adults.

Also, and I promise I`m nearly finished, "urged parents to pay closer attention to what their children played." Children? He`s F*cking 18, although still nessesarily someones `child`... He`s F*cking 18

Funny that, as I was just playing Postal 2, a game that was deemed so violent it had to be banned in Australia, North america and several other countries I believe. But I digress, todays gaming related rant is on `immersion` everyone say immersion for me. Good. Now I`m not going to claim its impossible for immersive gaming to result in murder or theft, no, for I have seen the effects of immersion. Why it was only a few weeks ago that, after hours and hours of playing Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, I was walking past a locked locker and for a brief second picking the lock and ransacking the locker in search of gold or a repair hammer for my dremora claymore seemed like a sane idea. Of course I didn`t as I, and millions of others, have been blessed with common sense. No, being so obsessed with GTA to the point of murder isnt impossible, its just f*cking stupid. GTA, beside the vast and beautiful landscape it exploits, is a poor game.

now they are going to take away my dust covered pokemon games so i dont try to cram a 150pb dog in to a tennis ball.

people killed each other for no reason long long befor video games and they will continue to. just because we are better able to find out how often it happens doesnt mean its new or the cause of video games. taxis are a easy target for a robber. they are driving around alone and they are sure to have at least a little bit of money.

"death by lethal injection" HAHAHAHAHA

Stupid bastard. Games are an entertainment OUTLET, not an inspiration. This dumb-ass deserves all he gets.

this makes me ponder the idea of committing a major crime so police would blame it on video games, and in court i confess to it and say they`re lieing about the videogame part. i`d never have the guts to actually do this, but it would be interesting if someone did that

If there was a chance of getting out of lethal injection. by blaming a game wouldn`t you try? i know i would.

You know, I wonder. When it`s a game, lots of people jump on the occasion to blame it. (I know this time it was explicitly, speaking generally here).

What do you bet if he had blamed an action movie, it would not have been truly blamed on the movie?

"I warned you both that copycat killings by teens would occur upon the release of Grand Theft Auto IV. Now my prediction has come true...

In addition to multiple written warnings, I told you of this coming mayhem in a face-to-face meeting with you, Mr. Selznick, on Central Park West on May 15, 2007... I am working with authorities now... as well as other remedies against Take-Two for its reckless worldwide distribution of its murder simulation training products...

This is just the latest killing incident prompted by your murder simulators. I aim to make it the last..."

- Jack Thompson on the matter.

What a dick, eh? One more game related murder and he goes all biblical.

Odd how GTA always gets the rap for these actions, I am more inclined to beleive that Super Smash Bros or Mario Cart caused this behaviour. In Mario Cart the idea is to blow up your opponent with turtle bombs and lightning strikes, this kind of non visceral exposure would cause one such as myself to hook up with deranged women whom think they are a princess orelf queens and crash cars. Makes me wonder if landing backwards on a building in a car is as easy as it is in the game.

People must have something seriously wrong upstairs when they start acting video games in real life without expecting the real life consequences. If he was even acting it out in the first place, GTA is a pretty easy scapegoat.

And I’d like to reiterate techgeek, what ever happened to accountablity?

The only thing I ever did in GTA was kill myself by riding mountain bikes off of the mountains. Maybe it would be more fun in real life..... Maybe....
