Link: Richard Dawkins Reads His Hate Mail - Dawkins reads the violent and obscene hate-mail he gets on a daily basis. It’s rather f_cking enjoyable. NSFWish.

Most religious types aren`t as drating retarded as the people who sent him these emails. It isn`t weather or not you believe in god, its weather or not you value compassion and tolerance above all.

I think us non-believers and you believers can all get together and laugh at the idiots in this video, as well as some of the emails that I`m sure creationists get from non-nice individual Atheists.

Regardless of belief, those of us who are good people, who value compassion and tolerance over all, while we may not agree on things, we should all sit together in peace, and watch the ignorant degenerate hate mongering fools wallow in their own self created figurative filth.

Baalthazaq, please stop protecting faith with your nonsense arguments. Man I see you everywhere.

"I have a gorgeous fiance. (And no, I`m not rich, so she can`t be after me for my money. ;))"

You`re right, it`s because women are considered inferior to man in Islam. But I might be wrong, maybe she`s not Muslim, or maybe she`s plain ugly.

Islam also believes that Jews and Christians in Muslim countries must be submissive and pay the jizya, an especially high tax for infidels. Islam does not recognize polytheistic or atheistic religions such as Hinduism or Buddhism, whose followers must be converted. Religions such as the Ba`hai faith, which claims to be a successor to Islam, are considered apostasy and persecuted in Iran.

The Qur`an, on Sura 9, versicle 5, says "kill the unbelivers wherever you find them".

    Just beautiful

GAHH as a Bio major i hate how those "dummies" keep saying evolution isn`t real, of course it isn`t real its a "theory". In case they`ve dropped out of high school in the name of "God", a theory is something suggested and have so far yet to be disproved. when will these "dummies" learn that we don`t "descend" directly from monkeys, we`re relatives with the monkeys out of a common ancestor. I also grind my teeth when those religious nutjobs keep calling The theory of evolution "darwinism" like its some sort of religion.

the only thing worse than creationists are the people that think they know better. 2000 years ago the most learned people on the planet argued that the earth was in fact flat. 2000 years from now we will still be a bunch of doofs.

    WCKoser:
    She`s actually not Muslim.
    Women are not inferior.

The verse is out of context (try reading the line before it about not fighting anyone who doesn`t wish to fight, or who has a treaty with you, etc. or the line after it about protecting any who ask for it).

You have come up with an opinion, and picked out a snippet out of context to back it up. That is not research. That`s the intellectual equivalent of starting with "Gravity doesn`t work" and ending with "Look a balloon". Context matters.

There`s also the minor detail that Middle Eastern countries at least have some of the lowest taxes on earth, and in many cases the tax rate is virtually 0. I don`t pay any tax and neither would you if you lived here. What if I were to come there?

Oh that`s right, I`d be giving up a quarter or so of my income.

I also notice you having created an account solely to argue with me, and suspect you are either 1) Garga, 2) Garga`s friend, 3) A troll.

In cases 2 and 3, thus endeth the conversation.

In case 1) Garga: Just because you see something, and that makes you think something, doesn`t make it proof.

See above with "Gravity doesn`t work" and "Look a balloon".

See your post with "Theists suck" and "Some theists sent hatemail to Dawkins".

Consider "Atheists suck" and "Look, Stalin".

It just doesn`t PROVE bugger all and thus is not proof.

Thus, your proof is still 0, although your argument has gone up to 1.

Let`s be clear here... the people who are sending this guy these messages are about as qualified to be called Christians as they are grammarians.

Christianity, as I understand it at least, is typified by the concepts of charity, kindness, love, benevolence, patience and so on. These concepts are at odds with the vulgar, violent and offensive mail Dawkins gets, and the senders should, obviously, be ashamed of themselves.

Christianity is unfortunately polluted with confused, hypocritical extremists, just like any other religion.

I would suggest that a TRUE Christian would respect Dawkins God-given right to make is own choices - respectfully disagree with him - and treat him with love and kindness. And most Christians do just that.

It`s too bad that the kooks get all the press.

Zerocyde...unfortunately you`re wrong. ALL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE ARE AS RETARDED AS THESE PEOPLE. Think about, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary they continue to base their beliefs on FAITH. If I was to believe that the Sun goes around the Earth, even though overwhelming evidence shows the opposite, wouldn`t I be a retard?

Blind faith IS the root of all evil. Religion is the root of most evil. There is no way to logically argue in favor of religion. Religion has done nothing positive for man, but rather hindered ALL human advancement.

The fact of the matter is that religious people aren`t truly "good". They`re good because of fear of other-worldly punishment. Non-believers who refrain from "sin" are the truly good people. They refrain from "sin" because they know the difference between right and wrong, and adhere to their own moral principles.

Gargaflute is 100% right. Anybody who disagrees is an idiotic religious apologist.

Baalthazaq is wrong. Unfortunately you can`t really blame him. He apparently lives in the Islamic world. They don`t have the freedom to believe otherwise. Before you say "i don`t know ish", I lived in a muslim country for several years, and I kept my lack of belief to myself, because of fear of capital punishment.

Gargaflute`s post had no opinion in it. Rather he was stating a fact. The only opinion in that post was Baathalzaqs.

Baathalzaq (or any religious person) you seem to know for a fact that religion is right. If you can give me ONE piece of credible evidence, (not conjecture, or the pathetic illogical argument that "faith is an important virtue" I will convert to whatever religion you want.

On the same note, can you produce any credible evidence AGAINST evolution (again, the same rules apply as above)?

Every single sort of religious belief is wrong and irresponsib

"I would suggest that a TRUE Christian would respect Dawkins God-given right to make is own choices - respectfully disagree with him - and treat him with love and kindness. And most Christians do just that."

A true Christian would never respect that fact. It completely and utterly defies Christian belief. The Crusades, Inquisition... are examples of it. It is the DUTY of Christians to spread the "word of god", and by not pointing out the flaw`s with Dawkin`s theory you`d be violating God`s law.

Bill your assumptions are simply incorrect. Being a Christian does not mean that you have to accept things on blind faith. Those are your preconceptions showing. Sure I have faith - but it`s not blind by any stretch.

For example... I totally accept the concept of evolution. This concept is not (as some would say) exclusive of Christian faith. Evolution is observable and exists, and I accept that. Doing so in no way conflicts with my belief in God. You are making the assumption that it does... and your assumptions are the problem here.

Christians are thinking rational people. Certainly they are as flawed and human as anyone else.

I really don`t understand why people are so insistent on forcing others to agree with them - or in the absence of agreement so determined to degrade and humiliate them.

I disagree with you - but I`m not going to ram anything down your throat - your beliefs don`t cheapen my own.

I`m not sure you are the best judge of what describes Christian belief Bill. Dare I point out that you have a clear bias here?

Indeed, your statements in support of science seem at odds with your bias. Science is, after all, concerned with fact untanted by opinion.

I submit that you are as much a hypocrite as the letter writers we started out talking about.

In fact, your negative, vulgar and disrespectful language is quite similar to the mail that Dawkins was reading.

Again I point out that there are kooks on both sides of the fence.

In fact Christianity is not exemplified by the crusades or the inquisition. No thinking person that I know would ever suggest that these were good things. And certainly no one alive today can be held to account for the evil actions of history`s confused extreemists.

Instead true Christianity is, by definition, following the example of Jesus Christ. You know, loving your fellow man and all that.

Evolution and Christianity ARE mutually exclusive. Only an imbecile would argue to the contrary. I believe in 1996 the Vatican finally accepted the "theory of evolution"...after 150 years of condemning it as blasphemy. You don`t see anything wrong with that? The bible says "God created man (on whatever day)...then created Eve out of Adams rib". You`re probably going to make the pathetic argument that "the Bible is being metaphorical, and doesn`t ACTUALLY mean that god literally created man". Now tell me, if today we PROVE that God doesn`t exist, what do you think will be the Christian feeling 150 years from now? I believe they`ll say "Of course God doesn`t exist. He`s a metaphor for being good".

Christians ARE NOT rational thinking people. How can you claim to be rational and "thinking" when you believe in something based on faith? That`s exactly the opposite of "rational and thinking"

My stance has a basis in Science. Your stance (in regards to evolution) may have a basis in science, but it UTTERLY contradicts the bible. You don`t see the hypocrisy in that?

"I really don`t understand why people are so insistent on forcing others to agree with them - or in the absence of agreement so determined to degrade and humiliate them."

We`re wrong for forcing heliocentricity down your throat? It is your RIGHT to believe the opposite. You don`t see the flaw in that? When you`re teaching somebody to believe something on the basis of faith, rather than logic...you`re doing evil. We have brains, and we should use them. If I force you to use your brain, am I really wrong?

I was born a muslim, went to a private christian school for most of my life. I think I have more of a right to comment on religion than most people. If I have a bias, it`s based in science. A person who argues helicentricity is biased, because he won`t accept "the fact of geocentricity". Is that really your argument?

"Indeed, your statements in support of science seem at odds with your bias. Science is, after all, concerned with fact untanted by opinion."

Why are my statements at odds with science? If I was to accept scientific dogma on faith, yes I agree. You seem to assume (wrongly) that I`m uneducated, and am blindly accepting something.

Science has repeatedly shown the "Fact" that is evolution, the "Fact" of heliocentricity. Religion has never proven anything. So I`m biased because I don`t accept an unproven theory? LOL.

By your logic I`m biased against the "Pink unicorn living in the center of mars" fanatics. If they can prove to me that such a creature exists there, I`d be willing to believe it. Until then it, as well as all religion, is conjecture with no valid basis. So sure, go ahead an call me biased. If I`m biased against illogicalness, that`s a bias I`m willing to accept.

You need religion to teach you that? Are you really in such a state of moral ambiguity? Don`t you see how sad a state you`re in, when you have to be told what is right and wrong?

Okay, I agree that you personally might not be an extremist. But the fact stands that you`re going to teach your children to believe in Jesus unequivocally. If you disagree, you`re not Christian...since then you don`t wholeheartedly believe in Jesus. So by teaching blind faith, you`re planting the seeds of fundamentalism and extremism. So, even if you don`t actually go out and kill abortionists, you`re teaching your children that its okay.

But what I find rather strange is that Baalthazaq`s supporters are Christians (primetimekin and Cashcleaner). Seens like they both stepped over their (many) differences to join forces. I also would like to know why Baalthazaq believes in the Qur`an rather than in the Bible or The New Testament etc...

Your assumptions about my beliefs are showing again Bill. In the end I feel little need to justify myself to you, however, I would suggest that taking the bible as literally true in every respect would be naive and foolish. Had you ever gained even a simple understanding of christianity you would realise that.

Of course you haven`t bothered to try to understand... you would sooner degrade people and be rude.

I`m not sure how the sun got into this conversation. Are you suggesting that Christians aren`t aware that the earth orbits the sun? Are you really that backward?

The concept of evil that you introduce is a subjective one. You think it`s evil to teach people to use faith. Are you so egotistical as to suggest that you should be able to define good and evil for all of us? Now your the one who sounds like he is conducting an inquisition or a crusade.

Yea, exactly (read my previous posts). Here comes the argument "the bible shouldn`t be taken literally". RIGHT ON CUE! If it can`t be taken literally, it shouldn`t be a basis of believe. Simple Fact. You mean to say that Jesus didn`t really walk on water? He didn`t really ascend to heaven? He isn`t really the Son of God?

"Of course you haven`t bothered to try to understand..."

Yea unfortunately the fact that I`ve read the quran (both by myself and in Islamic sunday school), and the fact that I went to a Christian school from 3rd to 12th grade don`t qualify me to comment on these religions.

Sure, but when one side is teaching something that removes a persons right to logically think for themselves, then what choice do I have?

The thing that bugs me the most is that they always have to bring Stalin in the picture. I agree, atheists have their share of genocide, but which one has the most evidence in its favor. Theists still have to come up with something. I`m not saying we should kill all theists but in this day and age I think it`s ridiculous to take mythology as a fact.

Awww... you slipped up man. Stalin did what he did IN SPITE of religion. He didn`t kill people because his religion told him to. He did it because of OTHER reasons.

The crusades, inquisition, abortion clinic bombers, al-qaeda...etc. They do these things BECAUSE of religion. If you question any of these people regarding WHY the did what they did, they`ll say "it`s god`s will". If you ask Stalin why he killed people, do you think he`ll say "Because I`m an atheist"?

My simple statment is that your adamant "shove it down your throat" style of preaching is remarkably similar to some Christian styles of teaching, and I was merely pointing this fact out.

My use of `prejudiced` was perhaps inadequate...I`ve since looked back and seen that you have studied both Christianity and Islam. Perhaps `jaded` and `extreme` were the correct words?

And who are you to say that all Christians follow blindly? As much as you`d like to think so, a significant portion of the world`s population are not blind followers (some of those people are Christians)...there are reasons behind the so-called madness. Maybe they`re insignificant and worthless to *you*...but that doesn`t matter since (in the eyes of said believer) *you* don`t matter.

Thank you billcosby and Boomstick for keeping the faith of endless flame wars alive. You are truly dedicated to blindly swatting at other people beliefs!
You both win a gold star.

Always amazing how some of the most hateful people are the most religious. I tend to regard people who are ultra-fanatical as mentally unbalanced at best, if not outright crazy.

Orion, I never stated once that I was Christian nor followed any religion. Not that you need to know, but I am not Christian, and I do not follow any religion.

You people are nuts. I still say Buddhism , and endless compassion ftw.
You little children go ahead and continue throwing argument and counterargument, insult and counter insult all you want. You accomplish nothing, as obviously neither will budge on their beliefs, and has rationalizations to defend their beliefs that the other will think is stupid. You do not benefit society in any way, you do not benefit yourself (besides a possible ego stroking, thinking you are winning, when you are at a draw) and quite frankly, you are annoying everyone.
If you are an evolutionary atheist, be a damn atheist, sit down an shut up, stop name calling the religious folk, you claim to be so much smarter, act like it.
And you religious folk, you also seem to have the idea of superiority to atheists, as you have seen the truth, well that`s nice and all, but they don`t care to hear it. so leave them be, Some people just don`t like the idea of heaven.

Again, Buddhism and Endless compassion for the win.

As for the hate mail... well not everyone can speak English in the context of being able to thoroughly insult someone. which has little to do with their faith, and more to do with the fact that they are quite stupid, and they act like any animal when it feels threatened. it`s the verbal equivalent of wimps trying to fight by wildly slapping a professional boxer.

Why would anyone hate such a genial old British guy? I`m seriously. He never did anything but strive for intellectual honesty for himself and encourage it in others.

Oh, and try to obliterate organized religion, but that`s a consequence of striving for intellectual honesty.

    ^^ I agree.

Why do you honestly even bother trying? IT`S THE INTERNET. SOMEONE is going to disagree, okay? So, sometimes it helps if you would stop repeating yourselves when we got the point the first time, okay?

Sure, it`s great to express your opinions, but try to keep your wits about you.

By the way, those people that sent those emails were utter idiots. Do they think cussing someone who doesn`t value your opinion at all will really ever change them?

    Mini-rant over.

I`m a Christian and I`m ashamed of the people who wrote those e-mails. They make us all look bad.
