The backbone of this country is based on being able to joke about the flawed systems. This all seems so wrong.

What an idiot. I`m ashamed to be a Minnesota resident. Not only is this cretin a dork for trying to sell his vote, but this moron is in COLLEGE and he doesn`t even know the difference between "you`re" and "your"

That was completely retarded, but then again...it`s Minnesota. A law from 1893? Get the f*ck over it! To use that stuff now should be against the law. Those morons need to get their heads out of their asses and realize it was just a stupid joke. The fact that it had no bids should have also tipped them off. The rest of the world knew it was a joke too. Uptight dickheads.

Seeing as how our vote only goes toward "electors" who then sometimes vote contrary to their pledged candidate, your votes aren`t really worth much anyway. (See Bush vs. Gore Election 2000.) Thanks to indirect democracy, you might as well get more bang for your buck, So to speak.

I think it is total bull that a person can be charged for selling their vote. It`s THEIR vote to sell. Yes, wars were fought and people were killed so we could have the freedom to vote, but that`s like having freedom of religion. They can`t give you FREEDOM of something, then TELL you how to use it. It`s crap. I`d sell my vote. I may want money more than I care who`s elected.

even if someone did buy it
it doesn`t mean the seller has to vote for the the candidate the bidder wanted
he could get some cash and still vote for whoever

i think charging him is messed up though
he didn`t get any money and it was just a joke, a really dumb one

I sure love U.S. citizens and residents that bash the U.S. I know it`s your right, but that doesn`t make you right. For those of you that don`t like it here, move. And take Sean Penn with you."

You need to see a movie called "U-Turn" Sean Penn, Billy Bob Thronton, and a whole list of great actors. Great, great movie and nobody but Penn could have played that like he did.

As for Chris Penn, tho, I mean, come on, get outta here.

laMigra, the whole POINT of the US government is that we get to, effectively, bash it and criticize it. That`s kind of what it was founded upon. There`s tons of countries out there where any word against the government means death. We have rights here, and if things aren`t going the way we want them to, we have the right to speak out.

Besides, moving is such a chore.

As for this, I don`t feel sorry for him. I know he was trying to make a point (that you can sell ANYTHING on eBay), but maybe he should have given this more thought and chosen something better. Why not just go for the usual soul selling instead?

A very sadistic part of me finds it hilarious that he entirely screwed his future over a joke. Because he really is entirely screwed. Wow.

The funniest thing about this is that his trying to sell his vote as a joke means that he will never have the ability to vote again if his is convicted as a felon! Dumbass!

You can`t buy votes from fellow voters, but the candidates can buy them in other ways.
