I can never understand american political elections... It seems like its more about showmanship and slogans. Also is bob the builder in the elections? Why were the crowd chanting YES WE CAN?! In fact why were the crowd chanting. Its POLITICS! Not a rock show. I prefer good old boring elections like ya get overe here. At least that way you can see the politicians for who they are, and not just some stupid act. Well its still an act, just... not a stupid one.

I dunno what I`m talking about :D Just ignore me :)

I think their supporters do more work for them than they do at winning people over for the election

    "Socialism II, the New Deal"

Except it`s the same old deal; a boot stamping on a human face - forever.

Actually Andrewgaynor, that`s a pretty fair criticism. To quote Jon Stewart,"It`s like those dish soap commercials. They always advertise "New More Lemon Scent!" Yes. That has been the problem w/ my dishes. Not enough lemon scent!"

    Baelzar: Pulleaze.
Why is it republicans always go back to the 80`s (their glory days)and imagine they`re fighting their old nemesis? Red and Dead, 1991 remember?
reagan`s old platform will do you no good in `08.

Its not fighting the Soviets Zira, its fighting the "help" given to this country by way of FDR and his New Deal. The only thing the New Deal did was allow Socialism to root in the U.S.

Granted the New Deal helped just a bit during the Depression, but other methods would have helped pull America out quicker, and would not have left us with a terrible Welfare system and the extremely short sighted Social Security mess.

From what I`ve seen, most of what Barack is encouraging is a bunch of short-term solutions. And from what I have learned and read, in many instances a short-term solution leads to more problems in the future, due to a lack of foresight. That is why Baelzar made that comment.

I`ve yet to make up my mind on who to vote for in this election. I`ll wait a bit longer and start more in-depth research, but both candidates have a lot to do in explaining their policies more.

And by the way, it should have been Baracky III. I <3 Rocky!

I think calling Social Security socialism is a crass misrepresentation. If you eliminate it, we go back to the good old days when your grandparents and mine starved to death and died in obscurity b/c they could no longer take care of themselves.
Besides, any attempt to dismantle it would be shot down by AARP and 9 out of 10 americans immediately.

    Short term? No.

If the Democlans/Republicrats let socialized medicine pass, our economy is finished.

Our economy already has very little room to maneuver, with the socialized entitlement programs already in place: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid - already consume half of our budget.

Just imagine what "free" health care will do.

You haven`t seen socialism yet. With President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid....the nightmare will begin.

Baelzar, in essence you`re saying everything now isn`t the best, but we`re on the right track - stay the course.

Baelzar, how would that be bad? Every western country with socialized medical care has way better med. care than the US.

    No.

I`m saying staying on the current course will eat our economy already, without adding the complete disaster the Democrats want.

The Baby Boomers retiring is already going to destroy Social Security.

Look, I realize some people are beyond hope on this issue. They`ve been taught that the government should take care of it`s citizens, and is the source of "good," whereas corporations are corrupt and evil.

It`s like religion, really. Once it gets in your head at a young age, you can`t eradicate it.

I`m simply telling you that our economy - currently the most powerful in the world by far - will decline if the Democrats carry out their plans. Not a depression, not a recession...worse.

    Government does nothing right. Nothing.

Baelzar: "Conservatives have this idea that you can trust government to protect our interests overseas militarily, but not to pass out cheese. It`s this idea that corps. work well, but government can`t. But at thier heart, aren`t they both made of the same atomic material? Us?"-Jon Stewart.

The military is a money eating monster. It`s inefficient. It`s also the only one we`ve got. We are forced to trust them, and frankly, they get results.

I`d love to see a liberal/progressive/whatever they are this week argue FOR a private, corporate military. Ha.

Our military is proven. Our entitlement programs have led us to....a socialist probably getting elected.

I wonder how the genius of our time, Mr. Jon Stewart, would respond to that.
