And he thinks a career in playing Guitar Hero is more valuable than at *least* finishing high school?

"sucking up gets you far inside their"

OH I LOVE MadLibs!

Inside their cars!
Inside their Colons!
... Vaginas!
... Noses!
... ... ok im out of ideas...

Anyway... I would also like to mention that the article mentions the $1000 he won was the dollar value of all the free meals and gift prizes he won. No real cash prizes, just free food. So in reality... this kid is paving the way for the next generation of homeless people who will all compete at video games for free food...

He obviously didn`t care much for school anyway, as long as he gets his GED or something hell be fine afterwards as long as they don`t ask him why he dropped out of high school. (lol) But seriously, not like school really matters anymore, half the kids that come out of high school are still as stupid as when they entered, cheating and sucking up gets you far inside their.

Hey, I can`t help it that I would rather give my money by my discretion to somebody who needs it than have it stolen from me by the government to help some stupid bum who is too busy playing Guitar Hero to get a job.

If only I could talk 2 this young man.I once had similar ideas. 4 me it was Frogger. In my youth I was a Frogger god!I lived and breathed that game-and was rewarded 4 my devotion with unsurpassed skill.Friends and family, hobbies and interests, sleep and social skills were, all of them, cast aside in the pursuit of my single-minded quest to reach the other side of the road, both literally and metaphorically.I still reflect on those all too short weeks of glory. In the end though,my plans for fame and fortune were upset suddenly by the release of Galaga.Sure,I tried to play Galaga, but found myself constantly trying to move forward-2 no avail.Let this be a warning 2 all those who dream of gaming excellence-one day the cheetos will stop flowing-the entourage will stop touraging-and the imagined adulation of your imagined fans will be even more imaginary. It happened 2 me,I pray(moment of silence)it doesn`t happen 2 u.

@Crawdaddy: Do you realize how easy homeschooling is? I was forced into home schooling in my senior year of highschool. Now I was a C student in public school, but as a home schooler, i got straight A`s and my parents didnt even regulate my school work. And getting home schooled only part of of your school career pretty much ruins any chance for scholarships. But thats another story for another time. This kid is just a douchebag who deserves a neutering. His parents deserve several swift kicks from 6` 5" tall samoan martial arts expert, who happens to love wearing steel toed workboots, right in the crotch.

Hey, the world needs guys to work in factories too, this kid was going to a non-accredited christian school any way, which means that all of his classmates will end up as Ministers, or burger flippers themselves. Try getting into MIT with a non-accredited education that was built around Biblical studies.

I`m not going to search through the comments to see if it`s been posted but if you read the other articles they say that he is now home schooled and gets straight A`s. He has an in home tutor. Similar to child actors. Though he`s not an actor The education is the same.

My wife told me before we got married that she never wanted to have kids because she didn`t want to raise children in the world we live in because it`s so screwed up and hopeless. When I see stories like this I realize just how right she really is. We`re doomed.

I hate Guitar Hero... kids are choosing it over actual guitars anymore. Seriously, what 16-year-old kid chooses to play a lame game where you mash buttons over actually learning how to play the real thing? Well, I guess kids of this generation...

Of course we know that, DHise, but that doesn`t change the fact that he dropped out for something that probably won`t matter in another 5 years.

He`s still going to school, kinda. So he`s an anti-social geek with a fake-guitar fixation, big whoop. He could be killing neighborhood pets or jacking cars to buy crack, i guess. Who knows, maybe he`ll even wind up being the next Bill Gates or Bobby Fischer or Patrick Bateman.
Anything but the next Hannah Montana.

I`m a drop out and even I think this kid is foolish. Maybe I shouldn`t judge, but if the kid picked up an actual guitar, gets a G.E.D, and goes to some type of music college...
This could be a different story. That`s what John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers did, and that clearly worked out for him. Except for that period in time where he was, like, you know...
Addicted to heroin.

im 16 and my dad and mom will NEVER let me do that!!!!!!!!1111 ;P
---------------------------------

That`s a good thing.

And I`m thinking the parents are pretty much thinking, "He wants to go pro in Guitar Hero 3? Well obviously the kid doesn`t have much smarts anyways, so let`s stop wasting taxpayer money and see how he turns out. He was only going to amount to flipping burgers anyways so why not get a head start. And if he makes it in Guitar Hero, great for him! Seriously though, did we adopt him, or were our genes this bad?"

What the holy `effin hell were those parents.....wait, they clearly weren`t thinking. It`s just sad that they`re doing this, you know he won`t get anywhere with his tutors. He`ll be too busy with his "gaming career". Which will last a year or so at best, then he`ll be sweeping the floors at Wal-Mart.

Kids should not be allowed to make decisions for themselves.
-----------------------
Then when do you let kids make decisions? Or do you want them to have gone their whole life without making decisions, leaving them still childish when they enter the adult world? That is partly why personal responsibility has eroded so greatly in this country. Everybody feels like they need a nanny telling them what to do at every turn.

This kid has made a wrong choice, but he is a sovereign person and he has the right to follow that path. Unfortunately, the bastard will probably just suck money out of MY paycheck through government welfare.

So funny, but disturbing, the sad part is there is an eight year old or something who can play GH3 blindfolded, I bet he still goes to school, and the current "record" holder plays in his spare time. This kid I never even heard of before, he wont make sh*t.
