How does a building "pancake?" Easy. Cause the top layers to fall by weakening their support structures. Not a month after 9/11, I saw a report put together by a Civil Engineer. Due to the 1971 restriction in the use of asbestos, the insulation of the supports was stopped after only 64 floors were protected. There were reports a long time before 9/11 that said things like "if there were ever a fire above the 64th floor in the WTC, the support beams would be compromised enough to threaten collapse of the building."

That`s exactly what happened. The planes hit high enough that their fires weakened the support structures. The upper floors were supported for a while. But once the steel got hot enough, the beams collapsed. The weight of the upper floors, combined with the momentum of the collapse, smashed the next floor. And the next, and the next, in the exactly the way that computer simulations have shown that it would.

I was just flick through to see what had been said since yesterday and this reminded me about Mugabe (I think that`s his name) He chased out and threatened life of his opposition and family so he could have free reign of voting, he starves his people, gets his monkeys to kill his people if they speak out against him. Technically he isn`t even recognised as the President of Zimbabwe because he rigged the election (so publicly at that) he shows no remorse and just kills whomever opposes him. He is a bad threat to the people of Africa and bad for the rest of the globe due to his underhanded political actions. Why is nobody rushing to stop him? Sure he hasn`t bombed our countries but he`s still a threat none-the-less

"Gov. please tell me the justification of sending 80% of our entire military system, including national gaurd and national reserves into iraq when they posed no threat to the US. Give me an hour and i could name you 10 countries in the area that genocide their own people that we don`t put that kind of focus on. Another hour and i could name you 10 countries that toy with the UN that we don`t put that kind of focus on. What i want to know is this, how do you as an american citizen, can justify the use of nearly our entire military to invade and occupy iraq over afghanistan and pakistan? How you as an american citizen can support a governmental political war over the revenge and justice of 9/11? Those werent political leaders in WTC, those were american people. Your fellow citizens (plus some others). Those were your neighbors, your firends, your family, your cowrokers. Those were your brothers, your sisters, your aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers. Those were your children."

If, on the other hand, 9/11 was not a government conspiracy but part of a strategy by Al-Qaeda we must conclude that it was well done and for the exact same reasons that made it a bonehead conspiracy. Like a rat biting a dragon’s tail the terrorists whipped us up into a frenzy and allowed us to make mistakes. Counter-terrorism is hard and it’s expensive and it takes a long-time. And Americans don’t like long wars. World-opinion about America is overwhelmingly negative and rifts are beginning to appear between us and some of our allies. That increases the isolationist bent of Americans at home. The result is that America is now in a weaker position since 9/11 which is exactly what the terrorists want. We planned for a short war, but their strategy is global and takes into account that victory might be years away. As a part of strategy 9/11 was a winner.

If 9/11 was a government conspiracy it is a total failure. It was too short-sighted. Sure you can whip up your people to invade a country, but how do you get them to persevere year after year? (You think they would have learned from Vietnam.) And do you think that a government that killed thousands of its own people would blink at planting WMDs in a prostrate country to vindicate that it was right to invade and whip up its people even more? Instead, no WMDs and the government ends up looking stupid. The final result of such a devious master-plan is that the American people are more disillusioned with their government than ever, and if the support of the people drops away you can kiss your military adventure goodbye (Nam anyone?). So if the conspiracy is legit, it can go down as one of the most idiot things ever done by a government to secure power ever.

It seems to me that we Americans are too prone to overrate ourselves and underestimate our enemies. My own personal opinion is that the conspiracy theory is compelling because it feels better to think that our government is competent enough to pull something like that off, than to think that the folks up at D.C. really have no idea what’s going on. (I mean seriously, is it likely that the government has gotten better at conspiracy 101 since Watergate, the Pentagon Papers, and Iran-Contra?) At the same time we underestimate the terrorists. It`s hard to think that a bunch of sand-monkeys are playing this game better than we are but look at the results.

I know, instead of talking about things that actually matter and affect the entire planet and future generations, we should just make 500 comments about an old man getting kicked in the balls or a celebrity puking on the paparazzi. Diversionary pop-culture news, requires so much less thought and responsibility doesn`t it?

"somebody could`ve tossed a burnt seat belt into a field of dead grass and said it was from the plane"

OK smart one, there is a small, miniscule possibility that you could be right... but I think my theory is better.

My theory is that ALL of the anti-war/Bush and conspiracy people are Brainwashed sleepers from various terrorist cells and 9/11 was a trigger for you people to activate. (you`re mission? TO CREATE DIVISION AMONG AMERICANS AND TO LOWER CONFIDINCE) That`s my conspiracy theory... what do you think of that? Think I am crazy? Well, you have no grounds if you do. And guess what moron, all I have to do is go out there like all the other nuts and CREATE evidence just like ALL the other nuts do. Can you imagine if we took the term "you`re either for us or against us" literally? You would be branded a terroritst and I would have the undeniable pleasure of detaining you at worst and shooting you in your ugly face at best. Only in my dreams...

"I thought they said they went in because of weapons and afghanistan was marketed as a war on terror. It is there now anyways considering all the car/suicide/roadside bombings." In the beginning it was, but when no one could find evidence that they were developing, researching, or producing WMDs, the first phase of the war was already over. Bush finally admitted that the intel regarding WMD was bad, but a lot of americans were skeptical about that to begin with. Most people think we are there for oil. I disagree with that, as i said, i think we are there to establish a mititary presence. Once a military presence is established, then the Big Oil producing countries will cave to our demands under fear of a large scale military action. But honestly, given all the terrorist and insurgency reactions from the middle eastern people there, the government now sees that it was a failed venture from the start. I don`t think they counted on or even factored in the suicidal response.

Gov, one last point i want to talk about. "I personally would`ve shot a missle up his a55 when he started that crap." Why? What does the polities of a dictator have to do with you and your family (and by family i mean america). Given your age you might not remember the first gulf war. I had school mates and firends that fought in it. Desert storm was a Joint venture of UN and US military because Iraq invaded Kuwait. I distinctly remember people saying that Bush sr. failed that war because they didn`t over throw Hussein. But that wasn`t the goal. The goal was to drive Iraq out of kuwait and ensure a no military zone anywhere near them. We accomplished that. There was never any intention of gov. control in iraq during that time. He really didn`t change anything he has done in the last 20+ years. Remember, the reason they tried him were for something he did in the early 80s. Plus iraq was a member of the UN until the 90s.

Over 3000 people died, and that is the one true fact, yes. It`s not deminishing this fact by saying there was a conspiracy. If there was a conspiracy, and the governement is covering it up, then that is dishororing those lives. And the fact that our own government killed our own people, which would make us no better than the country we invaded. I would like to think that we could trust the government, but they hold the power, and THEY LIE.

Gov - they are marketing the iraq war as the war on terror. They are claiming it is a base of operations for al-qaieda. Remember al-zarqawi or whater, the "second in command under bin laden" was found and killed in iraq? This government went into iraq against strict orders from the UN. Your telling me we went in because he was screwing with UN weapons inspectors, but it was the UN that forbid us to take any action. Bush and co. were gnashing their teeth, they had 150 thousand troops lined up in kuwait a year before the official invasion. The UN made threats against the US if we invaded. That is why there are no UN forces there. Sure GB sent troops in with us, because apparently at the time Tony Blair was puppet for the US. I`m not going to pretend to know the GB policies as intimately as someone from there, but i have an idea of their sentiments. So i am still waiting for a reason to send THAT many troops into iraq vs afghanistan. And "because he was a bad man" isn`

Gov. Again, doesn`t justify the full focus of our military, we could have covertly sent a sniper team into baghdad and taken him out. We could have financed a political uprising and marketed a campaign for another leader to take over the country. I think reality is that this government want an established settlement in the middle east in order to forcebly put countries there in their "proper place". If we have an established ally and large military installations (no embassies, but bases) this government would try and control the surounding countries. Iraq is a strategically located so that every branch of our military could have large fortified bases spread through out iraq near the borders of the other countries it wants to control. Thats how i see it anyway. And we have what 15 thousand troops in afghanistan, compared to the 300 thousand plus in iraq?

You have to admit that there are many fishy things about the 9/11 attacks. For one the CIA created Al Quada...which was a group responsible for the attacks. Another is that the high jackers that they claimed attacked the buildings are mostly still alive. There is also the evidence that was incoming from various sources to warn about the attack. That and they had a training exercise going on at the exact time with the exact scenario. However the most fishy is that NAFTA stood down during the attacks. You combined all of those and don`t suspect something is up then your a idiot.

It was either a goverment cover up or a complete and utter goverment failure. Either way it should have been a flag to reevalute the goverment and kick the asses of the those responsible for the lack of actions taken to prevent the attacks.

And when someone does something like this to your family, you fight back. And iraq didn`t do poo to my family. The taliban and bin laden made the claim of responsibility for that. And those are the people i seek justice from. So please, enlighten me, what`s your vested and financial interest in the Iraq war? because only someone who is profiting from a political escapade like this could support it over the facts and reason i just presented you?

And for my final post in all of this would be this, a marketing campaign against the war would have our troops home in 2 years. There is a lot more that would have to go into this plan, but in 2 years most of our troops could be brought home or put in afghanistan and pakistan where i think they belong, hunting down the person who claimed responsibility for 9/11. If we redirected our troops mission to what it should have been in the first place, my faith in our government might be repairable. As it stands now, like i said, our government has shown how much of an opportunist they are by using terrorism, security, and fear to start a foriegn occupation and strip our own people freedoms away from us.

I am no conspiracy nut.

However, these photos (and the god-awful Penn and Teller vid) prove NOTHING.

1. Erect straw man.
2. Knock it down.
3. Claim some kind of logical and moral victory.

The weakest argument of all is to use "some people say [insert ludicrous statement here]" and then dispel the point with some verbal flourish. RUBBISH. Garbage in, garbage out.

Burns my butt.

But because we had a leader that ran on a religious platform, and through proxy the war on terrorism became a war on Islam and those that threatened good christian americans, the red state, right wing moral majority was all in favor. It took them 2 years, but as time has proven, 2 years of marketing is all it takes to bring the masses of the US on board a policy they wouldn`t have agreed with initially. If you don`t believe me that the american people are able to be manipulated into doing the exact opposite over the course of 2 years, i present an example unrelated to 9/11 but related to what i mean. Napster. The millions of people who downloaded and used napster and made claims in news interviews and on forums who said they would never pay for a music down are now paying members of iTunes. And it only took about 2 years to turn people completely around. Same with the war. It can easily be done if Obama wins the presidency.

Because we already had our eye on iraq/iran, even though there are/were plenty of countries that not only harbor terrorism, but produce them. But we ignored those countries. I personally thought we would wind invading countries like Libya, Syria, or Jordan. But not even a spark of interest from our government. No, their focus has always been Iraq and iran. The moment we started pressuring the UN for permission to invade Iraq, i remember hearing international reports from Reuters and AP that Saddam Huessein denied alligations of harboring terrorism. He was in total shock that we were turning our focus towards him. But we said nothing about terrorist harboring in the beginning, no it was "WMDs". They never really told us what these supposed things were, they just kept using that term. Weapons of Mass destruction. It was shoved down our throats to the point that some of us would puke a little in our mouths at it.

The government has shown us throughout history that in the face of disaster and tregedy, they can turn their forwns upside down and find the door opportunity knocks on. 9/11 was more than they could hope for to get the american people rallied behind them to go into iraq/iran. Instead of the Axis of Evil, which was a campaign designed to get the citizens behind a political war against thier governments, they were handed the excuse of terrorism. And they said, "how can we use terrorism as the flagship reason for invasion?" Answer: we will make the claim that if a country is willing to give safe harbour to terrorists, there would be no limit to what we will do to that country. That threat actualy worked and some of those countries began complying and working with our government almost immediately. But that statement was the real cover up.

Here`s what i think really happened: The republican party formed from war profiteers stole the election from the american people in 2000. They began formulating a plan to get the people on board to go to war against a new "Axis of Evil". Which consisted of Iran/Iraq/N. Korea. Their marketing scheme to get the people on board the "allies" plan to bring down the "axis of evil" was suddenly interupted by 9/11. Now, the reason it is easy to believe that the government had something to do with 9/11 comes from our governments uncanny ability to use every disasterous situation as an opportunity. Our Government is so preoccupied with internal squabbling, chest beating and entertaining lobbyists, that to believe the government can come together long enough to formulate a masterminded plan like this is in my opinion, a fairytale faith leap. But what our government HAS proven time and time again, is that they ARE the masters of opportunity.

Neither these photos, nor the photos that the conspiracy theorists use, confirm anything. The entire 911 attack is a cluster fcuk of theories and guesses. Just be intelligent and make your own decisions regarding what happened.

In my mind, I have no doubt that the government knew it was going to happen. I also don`t think they acted properly to prevent the tragedy.

If you`re interested in this kind of stuff.. Pick up a copy of The Shock Doctrine : The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Campbell. It`s a very... Relevant read.

most often the most plausable likely answer is the correct one. the government has definitely given their own version of events, but not in an effort to cover up some great horror they have taken a direct part in. much more likely they are covering up somewhat poorly built buildings and defence systems all designed and manufactured by the lowest bidder. that is what politics/business is all about; cheap, quick and disposable productivity. their main aim is to remain in power and strong in doing so, this is most easily done through maintaining a positive public image and a substantial stockpile of money/resources. any act of self terrorism would be totally against this policy regardless of how they handled it. think about people`s priorities and how you would feel in their shoes, that will tell you almost exactly what anyone thinks. we are all far more similar than different and all very afraid of being in this world, because it is so big and scary now. trick is not to get paranoid ;P

So all of you who proclaim the conspiracies to be absolute bollocks, are you honestly telling me that nothing strikes you as suspicious about the whole event? Even if not about the physical falling of the buildings, what about the Bush / Binladen affiliation? Moore`s `Fahrenheit 9/11` has a lot about the latter.
If you believe that the government were completely innocent of having any part in the 9/11 attacks, I hope that doesn`t also lead you to believe that there`s no corruption in the Bush administration ;)

I really don`t know what to believe, one I was in 4th grade when this happened, and two both the conspirator`s and the government have valid points. Sure the government have a bit more but the conspirator`s do have some thought-provoking ones as well.

Aside that, I found the second picture really haunting.

there are many ways to make a lie seem truthful and and truth seem like a lie, I do agree that there is some secret order that wants to control the whole world, and they are making it so that no one can fight them because they are unseen, but one never learns from history, look at all the world empires that have risen only to have gotten too powerful and taken down by its own people, this will all end when the rich are too rich and the poor are too poor and we start hanging the aristocrats

tell me I am wrong.............

This was enlightening, I never saw those debries and these photo`s debunk the Zeitgeist conspiracy film. I always tought it was to crazy for the goverment to do it themselves, the only possiblility of a conspiracy that is left is that the goverment supported the pilots or let the pilots do their buisiness without a attempt to stop them. Which I still see as a possibility since fake/planned attacks for politicall motives are nothing new.

Also, it wasn`t really a pancake collapse, it still hit other buildings when it fell

when has any (especially two) building in history fallen in a pancake collapse (such as in controlled demolitions) completely by accident?

ummm didn`t we all appear by accident thanks to the big bang?

I love that last part! "A bigger irony is that if there is a conspiracy, truthers with their deluge of disinformation are doing more than anyone else to help cover it up."

Got it to work, thanks for the help. It saddens me to say but there`s a few things that still bug me about 9/11 (which sort of makes me believe it is a conspiracy), when has any (especially two) building in history fallen in a pancake collapse (such as in controlled demolitions) completely by accident? Why did the owner of the buildings take out a huge insurance loan weeks prior to 9/11 (I`m sorry, coincidences just don`t cut this one)? And finally, why was the Empire State Building (in 1945) able withstand and not fall from a B-25 Bomber crashing into the 78th floor?

it`s really disappointing that there was no way to prevent it. I mean c`mon, you`re one of the most powerful nations in the country, you should have a powerful information network as well. Seriously...

The site is down! What a co-incidence.... or IS IT??? Wow, a site showing that the Conspiracy theorists are all wrong mysteriously goes down and is inaccessible... what more proof do you need? Also, a Whale from Atlantis crash-landed at Roswell after helping fake the Moon Landings, my brother says so and he is one of the Secret People from the Centre of the Earth...

I personally have little faith in my government. They can`t put a well known pedophile in jail so instead toss him in my neighbourhood! He didn`t even get a trial! It`s like "well, he`s too well known so we won`t bother, let`s give him a house and make people spend $1000 a day plus personal security for him instead" and then scratch their heads wondering why we protest everyday :(

I really hate politicians

you should second guess everything your goverment does.
however, you actually have to have some proof that the goverment did it

"its sad some people have so little faith in our country."

The reason I have such little faith in the country personally is because I`m Middle Eastern and the U.S.A just ran in and accused iran (in the middle east) of W.M.D`s, the energy project (I forgot what radioactive material it was, plutomium maybe?) to make W.M.D`s

bombimg afghanistan

etc.

also, they`re trying to create a democracy there, so they can do their whole world order thing over there and work their way back here

(just to stir up some controversy)

come on LoofahBoy, people have to challenge everything in their daily lives at some point. it`s human nature

for some people at least. [:

You can`t tell me you haven`t had a "no it`s like this!" kind of argument before

some people naturally believe, some don`t

arguing is fun

look at my comment earlier

I think I contradicted myself.

but whatever, right? at least i`m arguing

All conspiracies make me puke, but the 9/11 one particularly burns my ass. Over Three drating thousand people died on 9/11/2001 and withing a DAY there were people on the streets screaming it was a "government coverup." If they would just get their head out of their ass they`d see just how much it of an insult their claims were to the families that lost a loved one to that tragedy.

If the conspiracy nuts really need something to entertain themselves with, why cant they just nitpick the moon landings or something?

Yeah yeah, truth, blah blah. Keep your truth. Even if you DO discover the "truth", what the hell are you gonna do about it? If the government is just as evil as you say, then when you discover the truth then you`ll be silenced by a CIA assassin anyway. :)

Works for me.

I`ll send this to my former roommate. He would spend hours trying to prove the government covered it up. His biggest excuse was that there were several smaller blasts in other parts of the building as the "plane" hit, and that they wouldn`t have had those explosions if it wasn`t planned. Silly, yes, but he`s paranoid anyway.

Male 432
most of these don`t prove much of anything

somebody could`ve tossed a burnt seat belt into a field of dead grass and said it was from the plane

it`s kind of late so i don`t feel like arguing that much, but rest assured i WILL argue!
