Like it was okay when you raided Africa, took land from indians and mexico.. etc...etc.
Im not saying its your fault. But you have to see why people can make fun of whities/crackers but not the other way around.--------------------------------------------------
primetimekin, if you want to dwell on what happened in Africa, go to Africa and dwell on it there. I`ve got nothing to do with people who did anything over in Africa, or anything to do with what happened with the Indians or the Mexicans.... so i dont think i can understand why i should tolerate being made fun of.
Oh well. A racist may I be, then.
What she is advocating is self-imposed segregation. Blacks can say "I am a racist!" all they like, but the moment anybody of another race does, they are free to become "righteouly" angry?
I`m afraid that doesn`t work. If all it takes to reduce someone to a snarling animal is a single word consisting of two syllables, then they aren`t really people.
Incidentally I am white, and will use whatever language I please. Earlie I used the word "I am a racist!"; this is because I prefer not to be treated like a child. "The N word" may be many things.
And we ain`t talkin` about Nicaraguans.
Yeah, I was talking to a black guy and I said "Listen nigga" he got mad and said "Did you just call me a N*gger?" I said "No, I said nigga" that changed everything.
See that Was Sarah Silverman and she gets to say what she wants.
Dr. King was as Malcom X put it, an Uncle Tom I am a racist!
But... that would make Katt Williams irrelevant.. I like Katt Williams
This sh*t, this sh*t right here nigga, this sh*t, that last sh*t, nigga its nothing its nothing nigga, this sh*t right here n*gga, this sh*t right here n*gga
The dreaded N word is slang derived from a word that means an absence of light or colour , so those that use it freely are basically calling each other a lack of colour or light... if you want to be technical or intelligent about this debate over a word..
"Swastika was a religious symbol, Hitler re-invented that. It did work."
No, it didn`t. It was first a positive symbol and was used for hundreds of years... and was changed to mean something negative.
"N!99er" was a negative word first. It is MUCH harder to change a negative word (ESPECIALLY when it has such a historical background)into something that can be used in a positive way.I was merely saying that, with the Swastika example, once something such as a symbol or word is associated with something not-so-great, it is borderline impossible/impossible to change it to mean anything better.
Same reason a lot of historical figures and celebrities are viewed in a negative light. They do ONE thing wrong, and suddenly everyone forgets everything good that was done. :\
Swastika was a religious symbol, Hitler re-invented that. It did work.
A Nigg*r is a person in chainA N*gga i a person in gold chains- Tupac
Now the race issue in America isn`t that bad, I`ve seen it worse elsewhere including Europe (not blatant racism. More Subconscious racism that they normally don`t notice). Its just a few topics like this we still have a problem
Im not saying its your fault. But you have to see why people can make fun of whities/crackers but not the other way around.
I believe it was Bill Engval who said it`s all in the way you say the word. For instance, black people say "Nigga, please." where as [racist] white people say "Nigg[e]r, Please...please don`t date my daughter."
Yes, all about the way you use the word, like awhile back when I was talkin bout the word `fag`.
I am only ever offended by a word if offense was meant. If someone I knew and liked called me pikey scum or something and I knew no offense was meant then I wouldn`t take any.
Black people are rarely going to be saying I am a racist! to hurt, belittle and insult another black person so there is no problem in them calling themselves it. But they cannot be sure that when a non-black person says it (unless they really know and trust them) whether or not they mean offense so it`s probably better to err on the side of caution.
Same happened to me... they did. NOTHING. X\
Personally, I think if people just completely stopped being offended by the word, there would be no problem about it. It would stop having such a `OMG OFFENSIVE` effect. In the same way that calling a white person a `cracker` would be more humourous than offensive.
It`s not like you can completely ban a word. It would just give a word more power.
i know i know i`m sorry.
ummmm, have blacks call whites n1ggers?!? what is that gonna accomplish? it`s not like all whites call blacks that. paying attention to matters such as these only draws more attention to it and causes more grief. how come white people aren`t complaining about affirmative action? where`s the justice in that load of crap?
2) If a word is offensive when someone from outside your group says it to you, don`t say it to each other. It only encourages the use of the word by other people. Bling became part of popular culture, even after it was used originally by only a small group of people. The same thing will tend happen with any word, including the "N Word". If you don`t want people outside your group using it, don`t use it at all.
I just don`t think it`s going to happen.
I suppose in a way it`s similar to using the word "bitch". I mean, a lot of girls have a problem when guys call them that, or another girl calls them that, but are fine with it when their bestie calls them that. O.oI suppose it`s all in how you use it... tone of voice/conversation? Maybe?
Apple 18, I had the same problem when I lived where I used to live. I was one of 4 white kids that went to a certain school, and I was bombarded with a menagerie of awful words every. single. day. :\ Nothing was done about that.
There will always be tension between human beings as long as there are differences between them.
...i dont understand how can that word upset her :S
