I think their correctional system is pretty good.
The whole dancing thing gives prisoners something to do, which keeps them from getting into trouble, and some of them probably like it. -shrugs-
I don`t know the whole story, though, so I might not be right.

And I ask again, why the hell doesn`t the US prison system do this? Keeps inmates out of trouble and provides for free, hilarious entertainment.

God, I hate that song. But they danced to it pretty well. I wonder how many of them actually really enjoy it?

I propose that we remove the weight rooms and TVs and replace them with tai-chi and yoga classes.

It should be quite obvious to everyone here that this IS their punishment. Dancing for 4 minutes to mindless rap sounds like punishment worthy of prison to me.

And now, I submit a random picture of a cat break dancing. GO CAT GO!

PS the drop the soap line really is a bit old, isn`t it? Can`t you guys think of something funny to say that hasn`t been covered by Eddie Murphy?

It`s funny, because if they don`t dance, they get beatings. According to the documentary about them anyway.

Yeah, and a lot of them are in for non-violent crimes like petty drug possession. So not all of them are psychopathic axe-murderers.

I want them to do "Baby One More Time..." followed by "Lady Marmalade" the Mya, Pink, Christina, and Lil` Kim version. *evil plots*

These are always amusing.

And no Jane_uk, jail isn`t supposed to be fun. Prisons in Canada, the UK, and most of the Western World are Disneyland compared to the conditions that these Filipino prisoners must endure when they aren`t learning the dance and then performing it.

Just another person from a modern, industrialized nation who doesn`t have a clue about what the real world is like. So they get to dance before an audience once a month and you saw it on the internet, big deal. I guarantee the rest of the time their life totally sucks.

Not to mention the fact that the vast majority of inmates in jail in the Phillipines are there for what would be construed as MINOR offenses in the West.

I don`t mean to be a downer, but I`m pretty sure it came out a while ago that the dance "program" isn`t exactly voluntary. The warden is a megalomaniacal nutjob and forces his prisoners to dance for his entertainment and basically for bragging rights ("see, look how happy and well behaved they are!"). Apparently the conditions there are horrible and they are forced to practice their dances pretty much all day every day.

some people might deserve to be incarcerated.
but not everyone who goes to prison is a complete waste of reproductive material.
and it`s not possible to tell which of those inmates are sociopaths and which aren`t. especially from watching a 4 minute video of them dancing to a rap song.
like eladrelkce said:"I`m willing to bet the 23 hours and 55 minutes of their day we don`t see, sucks."

that is higly possible.

Well. my opinion is at least it is something on the constructive side. In this day and age of Hip Hop. Would be nice if they were educated instead, but this is at least a form of Structure that doesn`t involve forms of violence....Still, "Thriller" was the best they`ve done so far, that was pretty damn good I say!!!!

So... people are saying being being being made to lisen to music like that over and over again untill they can dance well to it... is NOT cruel and unusual punishment?

Also making them all dancers incases change of gayness, never NEVER drop that soap bar <.<

they have also done many more dances, thriller is worth a watch, for those who don`t like rap.

I have visited a womens prison in Cebu, Philippines and the conditions that they lived in were appalling, Most of the people put in the jails there have only commited minor offences, stuff which would get you a slap on the wrist and a fine anywhere else. I think it is a great idea to have this dance program in place as it gives them somthing to occupy their time. keep them out of more trouble.

I am not too ashamed to admit that if more rap was like this song I might be able to tolerate it. As far as the inmates go, we are only seeing 4 minutes of thier lives. I think its a great way of exercise and I`m willing to bet there is less violence in that prison. But I`m willing to bet the 23 hours and 55 minutes of thier day we don`t see, sucks.

Considering they have to give everyone 1 Hr of outdoor time and this is likely how they go about it then yeah there likely are murderers etc..dancing in there, because unless they are being a threat to the others, they have no reason to seclude them. People in jail with minor offenses come into contact with the `worse` people in there all the time.

Anyway..this is cool looking, but jail should be fun like this. I mean some of these dudes likely don`t find it fun, but still.

Yea, because being locked away is fun...how about the other part of prison, rehabilition in an attempt to stop inmates reoffending...it gives them something else to focus on and maybe further develop when they get out of prison...

Female 152
And besides... I really doubt they would allow murders to do something like this or even socialize with other inmates.

Ok. Generally prison is indeed meant for all those types of people you guys have mentioned. However... Stealing is a `minor` offense compared to murder. Sadly, so is rape. Anyway. To the point. I highly doubt that these guys are murders or rapists. Sometimes people are sent to jail for fraud, debt, resisting arrest, multiple offenses against the public... you get the idea. So daily activities to keep these guys from going nuts or plotting their next bank jobs, works for me XD
