wow... that was actually an amazing interpretation..
haha but yeaaah i understand what you mean about, "is THAT art??" haha yeah i used to think the same way, but the wonderful thing about surrealist, or cubist, modern, neo-expressionist haha there are just way too many definition for movements and i`m definitely not an expert so i can`t say exactly what this piece is specifically.. but anyways i digress, it`s not up to the artist to say what this piece is supposed to mean to you, it`s left up to you to feel or think however you want to about the work, haha and if it happens to be that it`s just stupid that`s fine too haha

but this is supposed to be a scene after a village in spain was bombed, it is meant to convey the savagery of war, houses are all jacked up and people have the appearance of bein` blowed to bits.. ha i mean i think it`s a very powerful piece, but the wonderful thing about art is it`s different for everyone haha

    anyways...

What I find ironic is that the people who say that Picasso`s work is "childish" and "stupid" probably can`t draw at all. It`s really sad that people can`t appreciate art for what it is: the expression of a person`s innermost thoughts and feelings in a visual form. It doesn`t have to be detailed, ordered, or perfect, because really, who thinks like that?

we dont think that the work is stupid or childish... we just think picasso was stupid and childish.

as to us not being able to draw at all, well neither could he and what sepperates us is that we accepted it and decided to do other things wheras he... well he was kind of out of it

well, that was created out of the pain of a war, and now it just looks utterly hilarious in 3-D.

way to ruin a perfectly good painting.

making it 3d ruins the original, it was done in a style that represents all angles at once from a single standpoint and is not meant to be seen from multiple angles; also there were bits added to it that weren`t in the original and can completely change the meaning.

    not that i care

Uhm, Addler, Picasso is a respected genius whose interpretations and style brought him to the forefront of modern artists of his time. What separates you and Picasso is that he was somebody.

It doesn`t make a lot of sense to put something that`s all about flat shapes into 3D. I saw the Guernica in Spain and the most important aspect of it is it`s size--it`s 11 feet by 25 feet and you have to walk along it, craning your neck to see all the details.

That`s how it`s meant to be viewed, I think; the 3D doesn`t add much.

Alright, everyone who referenced drugs influencing this painting is a moron. You fail.

I thought it was interesting to see it in 3-D, but the multi-perspective technique Picasso painted with doesn`t work as well when portrayed this way.

and powpowking, you draw me an abstract cow to represent dual perspectives while reflecting the pain and suffering of the 1937 Nazi Bombing of Spain with an iota of Picasso`s talent and I`ll probably pee myself.

Wow. That was awesome - as someone who has never seen this painting in person, or even larger than say ... 4"x6" it gave me a new appreciation of the pecie and I feel like I am able to appreciate the original even more. Excellent! I loved it. such a powerful peice in 2 or 3d :-)

I love Picasso`s earlier works, but I am just not a fan of cubism. However, I agree with cdpickels, the point of cubism is to see all angles and sides from one perspective; a 3D version of this just ruins this idea and kind of shows the student has no idea what cubism is supposed to be.
