but coinstar is a ripoff(its only good after someones uses it, and doesnt grab the odd number of change on the bottom, then you can take it... i have 3 canadian cents and i think a peso... idk my friend said it was)
But guys, we need to keep pennies. Why? You know those donation things at malls, where you put a penny in and it does cool things? That`s why.

(WOOT FIRST POST...I spend way too much time on IAB and only just made an account)
their punctuation (or lack thereof).
Current estimates by the U.S. Mint place the number of pennies in circulation at around 140 billion. Other estimates place the number over 200 billion.
Thats 1.4 to 2+ billion dollars worth!
The average dollar bill has a life span of about 18-22 months.
Coins average 30 years in circulation.
you can use your pennies at office max
I`ve also heard that the material is worth more than face value, and they`re trying to make sure no one melts down the pennies and sells the material.
I pick up pennies off the floor all the time. I work with cash registers and people never want their pennies. I usually use them for other people but afterwards, I pocket what`s left. It adds up.
The only bummer about steel is rust but, hell you can always melt the steel into bullets.
So, IAB doesent count post 666?
Also, you`re telling me that we americans are going to take the time to change all our prices to match the tax% so EVERYTHING evens out to a 5 or 0. And that`s all things too, bank percentages, loans, etc etc. Cause you couldn`t pay it out with it needing pennies thats for sure.
This bullpoo thing is bullpoo.
If we didn`t have pennies it would automatically raise all prices up.
Instead of paying $3.99 for your magic banana hat, you would have to pay $4.00.
tax would be raised up.
pennies are good.
stop saying they`re worthless..
you`ll be the ones complaining the loudest when they stop making them. >_>
i agree. pennies are annoying.but really, we need them. sure, nobody likes them but can you imagine what it would be like with no pennies?that means no penny sculptures!!!or no...other things made of copper!
Eventually, a whole dollar? Wow, you`re just a regular entrepreneur with your clever get-rich-quick schemes, Shaboinkin. I must keep an eye out for you in Forbes.
Second, come on people, just get a coin bank. It keeps all your coins in line and some even have slots to put the roll in so you don`t have to do it yourself. Whenever I go shopping, I always ask if my friends want their change and most of the time, they don`t. I take it, and turn it into a decent amount of money. I once made $17 off of loose change alone.
@ Telzen, that`s the biggest argument for pennies right now. Honestly, the consumer only loses one cent if they round it up, so it can`t be all that bad if it goes out of circulation. The biggest problem would actually be for businesses. The whole "99 cents" thing was invented for them to gain change, so they`d have to lower their item by four cents (ie, 95 cents from 99 cents) to actually have change in the register, which would cause them to lose some money. Then again, that system was invented in the 1890`s (by Sears, I think), so honestly the necessity to have denominations under a dollar was much more dire then than it is now.
Most countries which did drop their pennies, and 5 cent pieces...Their dime is now found on the streets just like the pennies used to be. (And in New Zealand`s case, they changed thier 10 cents to the same color the Penny used to be...)
STOP WHINING...Money is money...if you don`t like pennies, feel free to send them all to me... I`ll gladly take them off your hands.
Sure is!Thought I was the only one who caught it. :)
for my slingshot.
1c and 2c coins are still legal tender, you just have to use $2 worth.
I work at a grocery store where there is a coinstar machine, and we don`t have any that gives you cash. Just a slip of paper with the amount on it plus a code. They have to bring the paper to us, and we give then cash from the till.
Also if someone comes in with their money in rolls we have to take it apart and count it anyways to make sure there is the right amount, and to also make sure that they didn`t take a roll, put a quarter on each side, and then nickels in the middle.
I have exactly 100 bucks in coins. Around $20 in just pennies
and nickels, ey... hmm..
rant over. whew.
Yes IAB, lets move on to NIckels!
IAB gets obsessed with certain subjects for like, three days. last one was the girl knocking out guy vids.
