I thought they were going to compare Earth with the galaxy and the universe.

But still, I had no idea that there were huge stars like those in comparison to ours!

Umm... no... they`re in our universe ;) It could quite easily matter if one exploded and was close enough - we`d be roasted by radiation - if anything, we`d be turned back to pre-industrial revolution as all electronics would be fried.

And Pluto isn`t on there because the moon is significantly larger.

However those huge stars are cool.

Sad thing is that they`ve already run out retarded names, and instead of using normal, easy to pronounce names, they resorted to designations.
Why can`t they just name a star "Dave"? And a space shuttle should be named "Enterprise" or Millennium Falcon."
------------------------------------------

... Did you steal that from Dane Cook`s Vicous Circle? No wait. Some guy on Comedy Central. He did the joke about the pillsbury doughboy?

If earth was as big as canis majoris, then every strand of hair on your body will each weigh about as much as the earth at it`s current size. Can`t be bothered to do the maths, it`s just a guesstimate.

Canis Majoris actually isn`t too far away, only 5000 light years. Even though it is a hypergiant and has a relatively short lifetime I would place a fair bet that its still burning today.

Canis probably doesn`t exist anymore. We`re still waiting for the lights to come and stuff

Yeesh. I thought Betelgeuse was the largest star...but compared to some out there, it`s titchy!

Still, even with huge stuff like VW Cephei (isn`t that a car name?) out there, it remains that if you showed it next to its nearest neighbour at true scale, it would still look like a dot. The universe is mostly empty space.

ya some poo is really big. bigger then we can truly understand. those starts are all examples of the big ones we have found in out galaxy. i may be wrong but if i remember right ther are about as many galaxies are ther are stars in the average galaxy. knowing that ther are giant objects so insanely far away from us that we cant begin to grasp a tiny fraction of the actual distance means nothing. we can use our precious math that we cling to thinking it makes us better then other animals to make numbers that represents the size of a far distance star but that is pointless. if we lived for 1000 years no one person could ever know everything about out planet. why waste time worrying about stars, imagining that if gives perspective to anything. you can only truly understand a distance that you have walked. you can only truly understand a aria if you can see the hole of if in person with proper perspective. we humans think so much of our selves...

Many years ago a small asteroid of unbelievable density fell from VY Canis Majoris. This small asteroid traveled far and crashed upon earth killing all dinosaurs. In 1992 this same asteroid was unearthed in North America. It contained Fancylad. He was sent by a being of unimaginable power to bring us... I-Am-Bored.com

Anyways, guys. listen to Yoda!! "Size matters not." its true! ALL those huge planets and stars and theres NO LIFE. all of that and theres no planet that life can handle! u must remember space is a very precise thing. I aint gonna go and explain all the habital zones and stuff, but think about it. We are the only planet with life that we have found so far. Also, not only do we have life, but we have intelligent life. (well, what we see as intelligent anyhoo)
