Ninja, thanbks to you I have now decided that that shiny metallic IAB sphere/face is coolize.

Then we need to change it to silver and black...and white

welcome. i`ve also proto`d a 3d looking i-a-b logo, but i`m not putting that up for fear of copyright infringement and whatnot

i suppose i could put up the 3d circle, there`s nothing wrong with that, and just leave the bored-face-of-incredible-awesometude off

I like Nidonemo`s idea about having user options on colors. I really like the kinda basic black with blue colors of IAB now - hate those flashing, bright, overpowering colors on websites.

Also agree that the users should get a preview before we decide to say yes or no and it would be nice if you could concentrate more on the options available (ie; chatroom, subcategories). Maybe a MINOR change in the icons - little bit more `pop` to them?

Just so we get a vote on the actual thing - that`s really all I care about!

I actually like the current color scheme, like many others have said it kind of defines IAB. Seeing as how IAB is the only online community that I`ve been coming back to for years I would love to see some more interactive features like of course a chat box, member to member messaging, and an actual forum.

hehenerd, that might work...would there be a small cpouncil or poll to decide?

But I`d make it a newsletter post.

Also, we need italics and bold

0
Reply
Male 5,970
Does anyone else think IAB should have a newsletter? I would be more than willing to write one, it would have like the post of the month, best user pic, coolest user for the month, etc....

No change. Black is much easier on the eyes and simply looks best.

I like Rick S`s idea of the thing with replies and such...and also an increase of the character limit...and I guess more open forums would be awesome...but the color scheme needs to stay the way it is...please...

Fancy, along the topic of changing things, one thing I`d at least like to see is not only the category of the link (funny, news, weird, etc) but also the TYPE of file it is (picture, video, article, flash, etc) since sometimes I go on computers at work that are old and don`t have sound and only want to look at articles...

Whype on blackground (white type on black background) gets kinda hard on the eyes after reading comments, but Id say keep it.

What do you mean IAB is FINALLY getting attension?

I agree with everying ninja has said thus far.

Awards would be cool
-debate award (mAYBE?)
-WTF OF THE DAY AWARD
-AWW OF THE DAY AWARD
MOST ACTIVE USER AWARD (tHIS WOULD (Damn caps lock) hard, but iif takes a very 0devvouted mkember to get it
-Citizan(member) of the month/year

DONT CHANGE THE COLORS!!!! That guy at the top is suffocating because of bordom!

Unless we have color scheme choices...

More subcatagories, yeah

More open forums

forum/.chatroom for registered members

increase the character limit and maybe piucture size

moe smileys, like those cool animated smileys

Yeah, this place ios too rectangukler, we need more shape

Mix up the side bar

We need to seem more lively, you don`;t know it`s lively ness until you styep in to a forum or refresh

Don`t change the colours! As previously said, they make iab what it is, but i think afew minor changes here or there could inprove it
0

Male 251
aqua bird has a good idea. 1)when people reply to your post, 2)you get notified.

if the point of this is to keep us from being bored, it should be a little bit more lively. i`m not saying change the colors, just tweak it. there are a lot of really good ideas here

although i WILL admit that the current blue is a wee bit greyish

Male 239
I don`t have any major objections to the site as is - the previously suggested increase to a maximum of 1500 characters would be nice. The search feature as is meets all of my needs - not sure why sub-categories would help at all.

If it ain`t broke...

I agree with the other 99% of (commenting) users, don`t change the colour scheme! It`s very unique to this site and less likely to cause my retinas to rupture from overly-bright colours and whiteness.

Adding other small features to the site would be a good idea. Like features (quote, edit..etc) to the comments without taking away too much of the simplicity of it. And maybe a chatbox/forum? Although I imagine that would take a lot of attention away from commenting on posts.

ya im liking ninjamedjt`s thing. But definately DONT change black and blue. but mix up the sides a little like everyones saying. make it less rectangular and blah. Also chatroom would be awsome. and a most viewed link of the day would be kewl.

Basically, keep the colors, modernize all the jizz though, and make the side less sloppy looking

Well, I think it would be amazing to have a little button that says "Pick your theme" and be able to change the colors that way.
The white on black....my eyes don`t really like that. I have to squint more than I have to to see the comments. My eyes weren`t exactly well to begin with.
Maybe a decent, gentle color scheme like what Deviantart has? Pastel blue-ish?

I`m all for the following stuff people have pretty much already said:

same color scheme
change the look of the category buttons
subcategories
edit button
Nindemo`s idea with being able to chose the color
chatbox (that only people with an account here can get in to)
the quote button
SFW or NSFW icon, just so we know
more categories
making IAB better organized

Male 1,455
"Dunno about subcategories, could be a lower priority. The title/description should be enough. Plus it gives every item a chance to be read, if not clicked."

Subcategories make it easier for people to keep looking for the same stuff if they`re interested in a certain subject. If we don`t need subcategories then please improve the search function, because it is really bad.

I know I`m not much in favor of the whole swear word thing... I know another site that is aimed at the same age group this is, and uses a word filter that`s personal. So if I didn`t want to see swear words, I could click "yes" and activate it and then the word filter would be on, but only for me.
I`m not sure if IAB can do that, but it seems a little more fair (and consistent, considering some of the links posted have swear words) but still lets others not see what they don`t want to.

But remember when Myspace had a rather boring layout but then they changed a few things but kept the colors. We`ll we change even less then that but still tweak it a bit. Simple things. New logo`s for each category things like that
