I`ll stay with my American comedians
The Office was originally English... the Americans copied. It just so happens you saw the American version first (I`m assuming), so obviously, that one would seem funnier than other versions that would be watched after the `original` version you saw (original meaning first). In my case I saw the actual original British version and found it funny, saw an episode of the American one, and that didn`t compare, because to me it was not the original one I saw. Plus, in my opinion if it is word for word then obviously it won`t work, the Americans are trying to pull of British humour.
