Didn`t some college students make a car that could run off urine? That`s a good idea right there...

Hahaha! Nice. Mythbusters tested a few things like these not too long ago. All were loads of bull... Except the frier grease stuff as a sub. Not as effective as gasoline, but not too far off...

"I`ll bet my ill-fitting shorts on it!" Hahaha!

^ I`m assuming it`s because Euro`s are worth more than a dollar that you make this assumption.

The only thing that worked that was related to cars and this kind of stuff on MythBusters was when they cracked a raw egg into something that was leaking and it stopped.

Can you tell I`m bad with cars?

Opiebreath, they did that to a leaky radiator.

They did another special on gas schemes; the tried a hydrogen thing, the magnet thing, friar stuff, and I forget what else...

Hmmm upon further research i see that is the 44th cheapest country to buy gas (though it`s $4 where i live.) Apparently you can buy gas from venezuela for 12 cents a gallon - i think it might be time for some more importing.

If you did FURTHER research, you`d know that the UK doesn`t use the Euro... But ok.

Um.... actually, if Euros are worth more, then their gas would cost less, seeing it`d be like 2 euros vs 4 dollars per gallon. The reality is that the US subsidizes gasoline quite a bit...

We are paying about $2 per litre here. Someone told me that`s the equivalent of $8 per gallon... so why aren`t we on that list?

^^ "The reality is that the US subsidizes gasoline quite a bit..."

Not strictly true (I work for an oil company). The US doesn`t subsidize gas per se, it just doesn`t tax the sh*t out of it to the same degree as the UK (yet), where about 75-80% of what you pay is tax, straight to the government.

Not many people know this, but in the UK, for every $10 gas, you`re actually giving Mr. Oil Company about 50 cents. Then you`re paying about $1.50 for refinery and distribution charges. Now comes the crunch- about $6 is fuel duty and the last $2 or so is sales tax (called VAT in the UK).

In other words, 20% of your fill-up you`re paying for gas, 80% is going straight to the government coffers.

And yes, the sales tax is on the total price, after fuel duty surcharges. You read that right, they`ve actually figured out a way to tax you on the tax.

As a chemisty I`d just like to luagh at the last one...

A gas called HHO 2 part hydrogen 1 part oxygen... thats called steam you fool!

1 gallon of water turns to 1883 gallons of HHO? Well.. PV=nRT so yes.. some water turns into more steam...

If anyone ever bought that I`d like to give that guy a pat on the back for basically selling a DIY kettle for a few $100.

The U.S. does subsidize the oil industry...we paid them 700 million in research grants last year alone. This is on the record, no b.s. Energy lobbyists have all of our politicians on their payroll, how the f#ck do you think the Enron loophole is still a law? This is the law that gives the energy companies the power to own their own investment firms setting their own prices for oil..allowing Exxon to name it`s own price, and not the market...this is why America is eating itself alive, this corporate controlled government is the last days of pompeii baby...lookout, we are so f#cked.

UK = £1.319 for a litre of diesel at my local supermarket.

    That`s $2.64147 USD per litre.

There are 3.785 litres in a US gallon.

    $2.64147 x 3.785 = $9.99 USD per US gallon equivalent.

As for the Aussies, picking a random Sydney suburb (Liverpool) and searching a fuel price search website for the cheapest diesel...

$1.759 AUD per litre at Volume Plus = $1.7237 USD

Multiply by 3.785 = $6.52 USD per US gallon.

Fark me, I should move back to Australia.

Love the Tornado. Racers do their best to straighten airflow for highest performance.... The Tornado will probably pull fuel out of the air-fuel mixture by centrifical force, and you can`t get good mileage from fuel running down the sides of the manifod.
