How about neither? People should really learn that, for an independent candidate to have a chance, they actually have to VOTE for them. I live in Texas and I always hear other people say that they would vote for <insert Democrat or Independent candidate here>, but that they`d never get elected in this state. Well, stupids, vote for them, and tell others why they should as well. Thank god I`m moving next week >.<

its sort of obvious that your vote isnt worth anything anyways, if you honestly think that anything works "democratically" these days, you´ve been watching too much propaganda
USA and other major countries are already on the road to becoming full corporate societies, a staged vote won`t exactly do much to stop it, a bit of action beyond pretty papers might.

VikingGuy pretty much summed it up. Voting`s a sham. The GOP is nothing like conservatism and the Democrats are corrupted as well.
United States of Corporations is more like how things are these days. Which isn`t the corporations fault so much as it`s everyone else`s fault for not caring and thinking that their one vote is going to do that much change.

you can`t look at the party for an overriding view of the policies of a candidate. Try learning something, instead of spouting out generalizations based on radicals.. One could make an equally disturbing video on what some of the radical democrats believe. Besides.... RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

This is why the country is falling appart. Were segregating ourselves on POLITICAL partys. People seriously think all republicans live at Wallmart and that dems are the "know it all" party. This video just points out things republicans don`t MENTION. Belive it or not, there ARE republicans who are concerned about China, disease, oil, true equal rights, ect.. They don`t simply just shun facts! According to the radicals (both sides), who somehow find a way to rise to power and comepletely brainwash their parties, it`s like if youre a Democrat you have to HATE republicans, or vice versa. And if youre wondering I`m against our whole political system all together, not republican, democratic, or "independent".

Everyone who can vote should vote, it is absolutely vital to the health of a democracy for informed citizens to have a voice. If you don`t like things the way they are, do something about it.
Or you know, you can listen to my good friend lil bush:
"democratics is about the freedom to do whatever I say. Remember, only you have the power to make no difference."
Absenting yourself from the public process is not a good idea, as an analogy you don`t get rid of say, cancer by ignoring it either.

I`m not going to vote this year. You know why? Because government is one of the greatest perpetrators of evil and violator of personal rights, and I on`t want to be involved in choose the leader of evil. So I wont be voting. I disagree with our system more than I want him to win, so I`d rather see our system change. By voting I`m participating, and therefore helping the system exist.

So how do I change the system, you might ask. Well, there are hundreds of different ways to change the system, voting is not the only way.

Prosperity was helped greatly by Ragenomics and peace only means we aren`t helping out dozens of countries in need, or no large issues are happening. Just because the US is in peace, doesn`t mean the world is peachy keen. Look at Vietnam, we pulled out while we were winning. One of the most humiliating things, the media portraying a loss, causing us to retreat a winning war.

Sometimes the world makes me wonder. Was it ever better, or was it always like this?

You could always live in a dictatorship, where you cannot vote at all. The citizens who came out of former soviet rule literally lined up to vote when they recieved their freedom back in the early 90`s. Government used rightly, under a system of checks and balances and constitutional oversight is most certainly not "evil."

"because women should never have control over their own bodies"

how about because women shouldn`t have control over innocent babies` lives. What about the little kids? Don`t they have some sort of rights as a human being? How do people not understand that?

Almost all abortions have nothing to do with saving the mother. This means that almost all abortions are sickeningly selfish murders by the mothers of these poor babies. Take responsibility for your actions and at least let the kid live, even if it`s in foster care

^^ don`t worry jhe394, by the time you`re old enough to vote (as things are going):

    - the dollar won`t be worth the paper it`s printed on
    - the US will be the most hated country in the world
    - China will be the only world superpower
    - Iraq will be in full-blown civil war, generating more "Islamofascists" every month than there are in the world today
    - oil will be $300 a barrel resulting in a global recession which will make the Wall Street crash look like a bad day at the markets.

Least of your worries will be who to vote for son.

Despite the fact that people say we are segregating the parties, americans have to realize that the points mentioned in the video are true and horrifying. We are being corrupted by corporations, our planet`s environment is being trashed, and we are stuck in an endless Iraq war that with McCain in charge can easily end up with us entering Iran. I don`t think any sane American would want that to happen, and this video does make key points that everyone should pay attention to, both right and left.

Wow. Why does everyone only show the bad side of the Republican Party? The Democrats have some pretty twisted views on a few things as well.

Why can`t we just accept that the few in power will always be corrupt so long as we allow them to be. We no longer defend our country against our own government, we just sit idly by while it rapes our land, our personal convictions, and our ideals.

Grow a pair and do your part: Vote.

If we had more than two parties it would make it harder for Reps + Dems who stifle any independant thought to stop cannidates who have a slightly different view from their main party platforms. It would give rise to libertarians/ greens/ labor ect. to have their opinions respected. It would defeat the myth of the bichromatic "rainbow" of american political thought, and stop this silly Red vs. Blue nonsense which distracts citizens from important issues.

I saw this video and made an account just to comment on it, which makes me feel like a total douche...Oh well! At first I started to agree with some of the stuff in the video, despite being mostly republican, if not completely. I don`t think that eight more years of Chen-McCain is going to do America any good. At a certain point though, it just got preachy.

If you skipped that long paragraph and just read the beginning and the end, video=preachy, but kind of correct.

The sight of just how brainwashed, mindless and slave conditioned some people are makes me ill, and the sight of how they just sit and let it happen to them and their fellow people even more so. The laziness and sheer stupidity of someone too weak to even develope their own ideals, ways and form their own path is simply sickening. Wheres the anti-idiot video?

Chappell, usually i´m not one to step into anothers conflict, but i´m sorry to say, your mother is as well, but that didn`t keep your father away from the dog.
Note exactly how childish that is? If you make a insult make it a valid one, based on a solid, non-debatable fact and try and keep it on the topic of the forum.
    Thank you.

Ooh, I like reading these comments. I hate politics.. so I don`t vote and I don`t really care much about either side soooo... I do like reading about other peoples opinions, even if I do disagree with them... As far as I know, Republicans usually stay the same (??) where Democrats are for change... I personally think this country is ready for a change.

Doesn`t the electoral college choose the president? Cause if so then it doesn`t matter who anyone voted for because everyones vote can be overridden then and it wouldn`t count. But then what is the point of voting? Gah now I`m gonna think about that all night T__T Anyone that has an answer please help me out here.

there is no point to voting cupcake, theres more point in gettin out there and finding out what you can do to actually change some stuff and remove the paper pushing asshats from power, and heres a tip, they push paper, so more paper aint gonna do the trick, theyll just push it right into the shredder.

That`s it!! With a electoral representation in the collage big states can never completely overwhelm small states! It`s an admittedly funny way of doing business and splits up the total vote into popular + electoral, but it works.

Salt has value legacy, you can hold it in your hand and it has its uses, now promises are words, which have absolutely no value, actions supporting or resulting from them might, depending on point of view.
But yes, agreed, the thing that runs the modern world is "economics" which if you really look at you´ll see theyre all a pretty lie and that money and paper are, on a true material level, absolutely drat all, and that gold that it supposedly stands for , while pretty, is not especially of any real value, iron or tungsten are more useful. Money in itself is a nice lie and control tool. Media is whats used to bring people to believe that lie and the other lies revolving around it. When you really get down to it, money gives you absolutely no power as the poor individual`s hand can still accomplish the exact same or possibly more than the rich individual`s can.

Blue nonsense which distracts citizens from important issues.

do me a favor, go, read back, and recite the EXACT line where i said something of that nature. You will find that I state the exact opposite and encourage people to question, think and form their own views on every issue and most of all encourage them to not only voice their opinion, but back it with true action beyond meaningless markings upon meaningless papers.

@patthebaker: People voted en masse for GWBush, I think that made quite the difference.

And the only reason America is stuck with a 2-party system is only because of the way your election works, which naturally makes any third party a `spoiler` party. It`s not some big conspiracy, its just a terrible system that no one bothered to change.

"how about because women shouldn`t have control over innocent babies` lives. What about the little kids? Don`t they have some sort of rights as a human being? How do people not understand that?"

Until we develop some way of incubating fetuses from conception, women should still have control over their own bodies` reproductive organs and have the option to undergo an abortion or not.

And by the way, no one has a right to life before they`re born. Fetuses are living, sure, but they`re not independent. In fact, they`re parasites because they actually have to suppress the mother`s immune system in order to exist and thrive within the womb. That said, fetuses exist fully on the whim of the mother.

I appreciate that this is a free country and that we all have freedom of speech and all that... but I think, at some point, the founding fathers expected us to.. i dunno.. use our brains. I know, a lot to ask of some, but still. I`m reminded of a quote.. "Democracy is the absolute worst form of government... Except for everything else." -Winston Churchill.

What I`m trying to convey is, quit bitching. We get enough of that. Yeah, you`re sick of the Man and you wanna stick it to the Democrats too, and you think Independents really mean independence. Blah blah blah. Come up with something better. Think of a solution. Maybe then, you`ll have something worth saying.

Quick note about your vote "not counting" if you vote for someone who "won`t get in".

    1) Your vote is wasted anyway if you don`t vote for who you want. Your vote is wasted anyway if you don`t vote.

That doesn`t mean it doesn`t matter that you vote. If you genuinely want a democrat in Texas, GET OUT THERE AND VOTE FOR HIM.

The democrats won`t win that year, but if more people have the same mindset, they might boost him a few % to 40% instead of 35% this year.

Next election maybe you`ll get it up to 40%, then 45%, and then you`ve turned Texas into a state with a choice.

The same could be said of independants/republicans. (Also, check each candidate as if they were independant, not all candidates are just their party label).

You have freedom of speech (sortof) in the states.
    You have freedom of thought.

Unless you apply the second, the first is as worthless as the freedom to drool on yourself.

"oh yah, screw labels! let`s waste our votes by supporting candidates that are never going to get elected! I`m so original, screw the government, vote independent!"
And bashing nonconformism is original? Or, for that matter, part of the point at all? And since when does voting independent equal anarchy ._.?

"Here are a few reasons why I will vote for a Liberal: 1. I don`t think America needs any moral values! 2. I would love to allow gay marriages!"
Right, because all Democrats are evil scum and gays aren`t really human(something with so many cooties must really be a monster >o!), so thus don`t deserve equal rights.

Although, I will say I`m glad I`m not old enough to vote quite yet, because looking at the likely lineup of candidates I doubt very highly that I`d vote for any of them. Besides, I`m already 90% certain Obama`s gonna win it, have been for months upon months ._.

Wow, look at all of the posts. I happen to agree with George Washington. He didn`t form or join a political party because he thought it would eventually corrupt the system.... SURPRISE!!! It did! The man knew what he was talking about. Political parties should be abolished and people should run and be chosen as individuals. It won`t happen, though, unless corporations are forced to keep from lobbying. That won`t happen either, as ALL people in Senate and House are on the take. And the public is too stupid to vote them all out. "Senator <insert name here> has brought a lot of government dollars to us, so we should reelect him, even though he`s a corporate stooge." Idiocy. Put term limits on House and Senate. Enact mandatory jailtime for anyone connected with taking corporate lobby money.

Oh, and by the way, the president can TRY to suggest legislation and enact new laws (to fulfill all of the campaign promises they make), but it`s Congress that makes the laws. You want actual stuff done, you have to motivate Congress. By the way, the economy and federal budget are almost always in better shape when one political party controls the white house, and the other party controls the congress. Notice that the Republicans were actually doing a good job in Congress until Bush came to town.

If the entire whitehouse is nothing but democrat-led, we`re going to be in SERIOUS TROUBLE as they further rape our constitution with laws to "protect us" (In spite of the neocon trend, democrats are the major offenders here)

What pisses me off the most is the guy saying that the Republican`s won`t follow the constitution, as if the Democrats will! If anyone gave a crap about the constitution, then Ron Paul, the Libertarian, would be elected but he won`t because no one cares anymore. They would much rather have an inexperienced socialist. YAY

Overmann the fact that you call pregnancy parasitic disturbs me. It`s called incubation and nurturing. The way you twist that is underhanded.

"And by the way, no one has a right to life before they`re born. Fetuses are living, sure, but they`re not independent." "That said, fetuses exist fully on the whim of the mother."

Did you know that most serial killers are driven by a power high by having the ability to spare or destroy someones life? It`s like being God for a moment, because the person existence is now in your hands. Your right fetuses do -continue- to exist on the whim of the mother, that is exactly why it is murder. She choose to destroy the life that was placed in her. Do you think she feels powerful? (Well actually most women who undergo abortion have a range of psychological problems afterwards incl

"Until we develop some way of incubating fetuses from conception, women should still have control over their own bodies` reproductive organs and have the option to undergo an abortion or not.

And by the way, no one has a right to life before they`re born. Fetuses are living, sure, but they`re not independent. In fact, they`re parasites because they actually have to suppress the mother`s immune system in order to exist and thrive within the womb. That said, fetuses exist fully on the whim of the mother."

Well, on that note, aren`t all humans parasite of the world? Even worse, humans are like viruses. Parasites don`t intend to kill the host, but viruses just spread the filth until all nutrients are wiped out. So that means we should start killing the humans too if they`re causing any problems, or heck, if they just make your life worse.

I`m proudly voting democrat, because: This is America and we have a right to have someone who did not originally speak English be president, as Obama knows all about the American government, is a great speaker, and wants to strive to keep America a great country. Saying he shouldn`t be president is fascist talk, and racist. I`m voting democrat because I want to know my prescriptions are safe so I can heal from my illness. I had a tumor and the med I needed has been out on the market for years and is tested safe! Safe meds are better than any meds. Finally, I`m voting democrat because, believing everyone should have a gun is thoughtless, since lots of killers shouldn`t have had gun licenses. Look at V.Tech, that killer should not have been allowed a gun. Of course, the republicans believe everyone should have the right to bear arms, (which is a rule that should indeed be examined closer for the sake of people`s lives!). Those are a few reasons I`m voting democrat. For our country`s sake

This election is turning into nothing but a popularity contest. 95% of the U.S. is getting pissed off at anyone who doesn`t believe what they believe. This isn`t a war to see who has the most support. This`s supposed to be a determination to see who the people feel would be the best person to run the country. Instead, everyone`s trying to find things wrong with the people they don`t believe in, or with the people who disagree with their beliefs. Republicans and democrats are guilty of this, and I think it`s just sad that people would be so immature about it. It`s not a friggen contest, everyone! Saying things like "Republicans hate poor people" or "Democrats take money from hard workers" is not how we should be handling this! Support who you believe should be president, but don`t insult people who don`t believe what you do, you bunch of children!

and pizzabob18, someone who believes Obama shouldn`t be president isn`t automatically racist. If they say he shouldn`t be president because he`s black, then it`s racist. If they say he shouldn`t be president because they believe his political views are incorrect, it`s not racist at all.

"Well, on that note, aren`t all humans parasite of the world?"

Not technically true, but what`s your point? I`m not saying abortions should be permissible because fetuses are parasites; I merely stated that to support the notion fetuses are not independent people and should have no rights.

"So that means we should start killing the humans too if they`re causing any problems, or heck, if they just make your life worse."

Also Overmann, look at this http://www.abortionfacts.com/literature/...

and also, you were trying to say that because they were parasites, they have no human rights. So I guess we should give permission to people to kill retarded people, the infirmed, etc. I mean, hey, they`re being parasites, although not biologically, they`re still parasites, right? We should just start picking who to take rights away from, it`ll help society quite a lot, wouldn`t it.

I`m not saying abortions should be 100% illegal, women who are in danger or who were raped should be given a choice, but if people can`t take responsibility for their actions, what will be left of responsibility? When will humans learn to blame themselves?

"So I guess we should give permission to people to kill retarded people, the infirmed, etc. I mean, hey, they`re being parasites..."

I didn`t say a thing about social dependence, only biological dependence. So long as a person has finished developing it is no longer biologically dependent upon its mother and is acknowledged as a separate being.

"We should just start picking who to take rights away from, it`ll help society quite a lot, wouldn`t it."

I don`t happen to think humans had any rights to begin with, so enjoy the ones you do have.

"...but if people can`t take responsibility for their actions, what will be left of responsibility?"

What you`re describing is comparable to the government enforcing condom use for anything but reproductive sex because people cannot be trusted to be responsible with their bodies. I agree people are not as responsible as I`d like them to be, but that gives no right to the government to regulate their bodies.

I saw your site, although I`m unimpressed. It gives point-for-point refutations to the pro-choice argument but not pro-life. And as far as the associated risk or procedures go, women should still have the *right* to an abortion despite the technology not being as adequate as desired.

If my teacher in 8th grade was correct, it`s almost impossible for an independent to be voted in as president not because of the people, but because of the electoral process. Over the years, I`ve realized that if the only way to make one side look good is to bash the other side, then the I don`t even think about the first again. Also, what`s wrong about shopping at large supermarkets? They offer more jobs and more items at fewer costs. Using the points in "The World is Flat", having outsourcing to China is a good thing that offers lower prices to the consumer, and lets Canada and America focus not on the grunt work that is taking place in India and China, but instead on the important information and design work.

^^ yes, but isn`t part of the problem in that respect that there isn`t enough innovation in the industry, and that information and design jobs can`t support an entire population? Also, eventually outsourcing will defeat the purpose of learning a skilled trade so its slowly killing entire industries.
